Alcazar Puzzle for Android
It is a demo, the game itself isn't free. I like it and would consider buying it - for about twice less, it's too much for this. The game IS great, but there are no complicated graphics, mechanics are simplest possible (you have a field with squares, you draw a line), so in my book it should not cost as much as games with heavy graphics or developed storyline or complicated gameplay. AND it wasn't updated for half a year. So the price is too big for the offer. Also with in-app purchase I can't add unlocked game to my family library, we'll have to pay for each of us. Which makes this not attractive.
I really enjoy this game. The puzzles are clever and fun to work through. However, I have a constant problem with the app crashing. I play for anywhere from 15 seconds to a few minutes and the app outright stops. I'm not certain if this js a problem with the app or my phone, but it really cuts into the enjoyment of it all.
After the few trial puzzles are complete, you are restricted to only solving one additional "daily alcazar". And now the game has run out of even those and needs attention from the developer. At this point the app is just taking up space while we wait to see if the developer will provide an update with more puzzles. For now, you should ignore this app, just like the developer is ignoring requests for updates.
Highly polished puzzle game. Having big problems with it on my OnePlus 3 though where if you try to draw the line in one continuous motion, it crashes the game. Tapping the squares to fill in the lines doesn't cause this.
A wonderful logic puzzle. Every puzzle can be solved only by using your mind - there's no luck or freemium pay-to-play to get in the way of a pure, satisfying Sudoku-like experience. The game has no ads and only one cheap in-app purchase.
Edit: Daily Alcazar borked again. No fix or communication from dev. A clever puzzle app that I enjoy quite a bit. Still, could benefit from some U.I. improvements: allow navigation by swiping left and right in the main menu and within each book. Make daily puzzle available from any page. Prevent screen from turning off from lack of activity.
The puzzle is lovely and the presentation very good, but the easiest puzzles are dull and the hard ones are too frustrating to complete without an undo button. One mistake and you have no idea which parts of your solution were there before. The current undo function, which the player is required to invoke BEFORE making a mistake is not really enough.
Very happy with the purchase, went through all the puzzles and am just doing the daily ones. However for the last two weeks or so it would crash mid puzzle randomly, mid-stroke. I could go back and not lose progress, but it is getting really annoying. Playing on an OnePlus 3
The free levels might not seem that challenging, but the premium levels ramp up really nicely. One of the Queen's Rooms puzzles (#6) took me several weeks to solve.
Lowering the rating. I used to love this game but it no longer works. There is only an error-type message instead of the daily puzzle. It has been like this for weeks with no resolution and no response. Very disappointed.
It's a fun puzzle game that provides enough gameplay to draw you in and showcase what it's about, and then asks a small price for the full game. I wish they were more upfront about it being the demo version from the beginning, but I think the game holds up well enough and offers enough content for that little niggle to be inconsequential.
If you're going to charge me to play a game, I prefer to know before I start playing. Also, charging per level? Seriously? What a rip off.
Great idea to the game, but keeps crashing down every 30 seconds when I am trying to play.
Crashing seems to be fixed. If it is, you get to keep my 5 stars :D
The game crashes constantly. What a mess.
I really like the game, however it keeps crashing every time you've played 15-30 seconds
Great game, EXCEPT I can't seem to play the daily Alcazar! It's telling me to update the game, but it's up to date (I even purchased it!) Nexus 6P
But every so often the app crashes and closes. I got to level 8 with it closing 3 times. Too bad, it was fun.
Not bad.. about 5 mins of play before you hit a pay wall.. would probably keep my 5 year old entertained for 2 mins till she got another game...
Great puzzles, but there are a few cases (I counted 3) where the same puzzle is used twice in a row in a book. For example, #29 and #30 in The Queen's Rooms have exactly the same layout and solution.
Did trial in less than 5 minutes and not one part of those 5 minutes lead me to believe this was worth £2.15, way over priced for what it is
It's a great game, and fun overall. I was looking forward to playing the dozens of levels it shows you but you only get the first 30 levels, after that its pay to play.
Fun game but it crashes every 2 or 3 puzzles plz fix soon can't get in to playing it if I have to restart it every min.
Keeps crashing, unable to play the game for more than 20 seconds without it shutting down.
Found it a bit boring, do one puzzle and you've done them all. The practice levels don't inspire me to buy the game.
Every other level I play the game will crash on me.
The concept is great, but the number of crashes makes it unplayable.
Crashes constantly sometimes 6 times per level. Have to pay to unlock 95% of the game.
Please reply to this so I can report this directly
Really fun game, pity it crashes every other puzzle for me on my S7.
Every puzzle has exactly one solution, and all can be derived logically. Very clean interface that doesn't obstruct the game. With 690+ puzzles, there's definitely enough content for the price.
This app has all the qualities of a great little logic puzzle: unique solution, can be solved without resorting to guessing, various difficulty levels, doesn't take too long to solve. However, the Daily Alcazar needs new data every 3-4 months which requires an update. Couldn't the puzzles be pulled from a server to prevent the issue of no puzzles and no update? Additionally the latest update seems to have gone to a full screen mode and it is much harder to navigate. Closing the app requires precision swipes
Fun, unique, controls well, affordable, and gets difficult enough to stump a seasoned puzzler. Recommended
I tried it, loved it, bought it. The puzzles are clever and addicting. Very fun. For a little while, there was a game breaking bug that made the game crash with the latest Android OS, but that has been fixed recently. Works great now!
Game is very fun and just when you get going they tell you that you have to pay. Don't waste your time
Good puzzles that get steadily more tricky, but unless I'm missing something it's the only app I have where you can't back arrow to the main Android screen - there is no form of exit, other than pressing the home button or going into the running apps and stopping it.
As stated above, this game is amazing if you're looking for a simplistic puzzle game with a clear goal and objective reasoning. It's similar to Sudoku in that there's some state you want to reach, and in theory, from the start you've already got enough information to know it. You've just got to put the pieces together(which is better in this game than it is in Sudoku!). Extremely addictive and mathematically sound. 5 stars.
Good, fun, simple puzzle game. Flaws: The interface really needs a back button (swiping from the top and pressing the device's back button gets awkward if there's a puzzle on the screen), and in several places, the same puzzle is presented twice in a row.
It's a great game, and fun overall. I was looking forward to playing the dozens of levels it shows you but you only get the first 30 levels, after that its pay to play.

It's easy to learn and fun to master. Eventually, you do have to pay to unlock the rest but the price is very low, and you can play levels of all difficulties before you make the decision. It's a perfect example of being given the opportunity to try everything the game has to offer before you buy. More mobile games need this business model. Kudos.
