About Jumping Jack

Jumping Jack is quick and bold.
With skill his story will unfold.

TCKSOFT Retro Series #2: Jumping Jack

If you had a ZX Spectrum 16K then you probably remember this game as there were not a whole lot of games for this machine, they were mostly for its big brother with its whopping 48K of memory.

One of the original jumping games - before those Doodles were a twinkle in the author's eye.

Features: BEEP style sound effects, single colour graphics, 80s style addictive gameplay.

Doesn't Feature: Colour clash. :(

The deceptively simplistic and curiously addictive retro game from the 16K ZX spectrum makes a comeback to Android. It works well on all of my Nexus devices (Nexus S, Nexus 10, Nexus 7). At the low asking price of a single UK pound, it's good value for money. The improved cross platform support for this second outing from TCKSOFT makes it instantly accessible whether on phone or tablet. And the retro 1980s ZX Spectrum visuals and sounds are absolutely spot on. I'm looking forward to future releases given how this is better than the first game (Retro Blitz) running on different hardware platforms. I might even suggest going back and updating Retro Blitz so it uses this game engine for compatibility. Good second effort, keep it up! :)

Absolutely brilliant! Just as hard as the original and is a perfect replica as well. Spectrum days are my favourite gaming times, these days games have no lasting appeal. I was also amazed to find the original Jumping Jack was created partly by a kid the same age as I was when it got released! If you love retro you will love this!

One of my first and fondest remembered Spectrum games! BUT! Missing the iconic squelch sound when am enemy runs you over!! Please fix for 5 stars! ;)

My mother said that she used to play this game as a child and I get why, it is, for some reason, very addicting

There is something missing though. A squash sound when the hazard runs you over.

I have fond memories of playing this game over 25 years ago and it's fair to say that it remains as fiendishly addictive now as it was back then. The game is lovingly recreated and extremely frustrating at times, but it always has that 'one more go' feel to it which makes it a joy to play. Congratulations to the coder - he's done a great job of recreating this classic title on a modern platform. :-)

I love the return to the older style games. They are fun, can be frustrating and also addictive. Something you can keep coming back to time and again

Simple retro gameplay that will keep you coming back for more. Perfect for those long lines at the bank or short train commutes to work. It starts hard and gets crazy!

This feels like an 8 bit game ( in a good way ) unlike some games that have retro style graphics but generic gameplay indistinguishable from their 1000 similar cousins. This is the full retro package and works a treat on my HTC one x plus. Darn fun to boot. Keep em coming.

A great little remake of a classic ZX Spectrum game. Perfectly suited to the android format & every bit as tough as I remember.

A good remake of a speccy game for your Android. Lots of fun, will take you a long time to beat the first level but so worth it. A snap at 99c.

Brilliant. Is it me or does it run a little too fast? Any ability to slow it down a little might be a good idea.
