NOKOGI Rider for Android
Not that my opinion is worth a whole lot, but I grew up playing these sorts of space shooters and it really is my favorite genre. Nokogi Rider ranks (in my opinion) with the classics from yesteryear. Well worth more than three dollars. - J.S.
This is one of the best, if not the best shooter on android. It is reminiscent of Compile's finest, while having an effective and simple FCS of its own. Devs are also quick to reply. Simply an awesome shooter that puts itself out from 99.9% of the same old stuff.
While the majority of original Android shmups are pretty rubbish, this one seriously stands out from the crowd. What we have here is a perfectly realised shmup with a great amount of time and attention paid to the level and enemy design. The mechanics are very well integrated into the simple controls. You have a laser can be charged up by letting go of the screen for a second, which leads to some very hairy moments when you're trying to charge it up but have enemies on all sides. Trying to keep your chain running to get your score up is frantic and can be broadly optimised, and the levels are very approachable with plenty of options for improvised laser chaining later on. There are also different options for control methods, an interlacing mode which looks great on high-res mobiles, high score tables for every configuration of the game possible, and three difficulty options that are remarkably well balanced. Overall, this a highly polished package, and it's straightforward gameplay is very addictive.
Very nice retro feel. Well balanced. Lightweight and fun. Everything you wanted in a danmaku.
This game asks "what would a bullet hell shmup have been like on the nes?" Freaking amazing, that's what. Seriously, this game hits all the nostalgia buttons, has great music and is a genuinely fun and challenging bullet hell shmup.
Excellent retro-style graphics and music. The simple controls make the game accessible, but it's challenge will make sure that you will milk a lot of hours out it before beating it. And even after that, you have a high score to beat, so all in all, you get a pretty big bang for your buck. Oh, and the gameplay is excellent, too. Buy it, if you're in for a fun challenge.
Screens are too cluttered and need better visuals but still fun
It's like M.U.S.H.A. ejaculated on a Commodore 64. Great touchscreen controls.
Top Space Shooter. Best of Best

Best shmup on Android. With NES graphics & 1 finger controls you may be fooled into thinking there's not much to it. But with 3 very balanced difficulty settings, 3 ships that play differently because of weapon spreads, well thought out enemy designs & patterns that change immensely depending on difficulty settings & amount of options pre-game from interlace mode on/off all the way to the "practice option" that has more options than most other shmups entire design, this is THE shmup for the hardcore.
