Crossword Light

Tried a bunch and liked this one the best. Easy controls, good puzzles for the moat part. Some hard, some easy, some irritating, but overall fun. But mostly I think this app has the best UI, albeit a notably outdated one.

I had one puzzle with a square that required multiple letters in that one square. Another actually had a number "1" in it. Needless to say, I had to use a hint to reveal those squares, thus making it impossible to complete on my own. This is garbage and I'm uninstalling right now.

Only one set of easy puzzles, once they are solved no more puzzles. Disappointing.

Perfect for airports, waiting rooms. Right balance for level of difficulty. Let's you see clues for intersecting crosswords. This one's my first choice, preferred over the newspaper!

I really enjoy the paid version of this app on both my iPad and iPhone and would gladly pay for the Android version if it didn't feel so second-rate. The performance is mediocre even on the latest hardware, and I would love the option to use the system keyboard as I find the included one quite unattractive. Overall, this lacks the polish I expect in a $10.00 app.

Best crossword puzzle I have found for android and I'm super picky. Update : I paid for 2 groups of crosswords and haven't gotten them. I emailed the company and haven't gotten a response.

What did you guys do to this thing with the update? The clues down the right side in portrait have all disappeared. How do I get them back? Now it's look down, look up, look down, look up... You have actually managed to ruin the experience. Now searching for an alternative. Why can't anyone ever leave well enough alone? Uninstalled.

A US focussed app.

Try to open and it shows the splash screen then closes. Thought this could be a fun game but not if I can't open it!

Really works my brain and gives me something to do when waiting at drs offices, school, etc. lots of puzzles to so you never get bored. Hint option is so useful.

Some of the puzzle clues are a bit confusing, even after I discovered the answers. But, still a great utility that has provided hours of boredom relief!

Have been sending crash reports for weeks...open a puzzle, after completing a few words puzzle freezes theb i have to force quit. Wish it worked properly cause its a pretty darn good xword puzzle ap

Iphone app was excellent but I won't be getting full version on android until keyboard and auto-jump is fixed. It's glitchy and inconsistent.

Crashes a lot on ics (galaxy nexus). Couldn't find crossword from NY times..

Variable in challenge level. Pretty good free standalone.

Would give it five stars except when u finish all the puzzles, u are forced to purchase more if u wanna keep playing.

I very much enjoyed working the puzzles. They were medium in difficulty for me making them challenging & fun. The only drawback for me is that I have completed the 40 puzzles available in the free version and cannot afford to spend money to purchase the bundles or the full version.

I love crossword puzzles, and this is the best by far.

I like "Puzzles for Friends" puzzle generator too...

This game has the best interface and playability of any I've played. Only problem I have is there aren't any free bundle downloads.

Normally I prefer Shortyz for my crosswords, but I had tired of the fact that Shortyz has no active development and that you can't add custom sources--which I think the full Crossword does--so I decided to try Crossword Light. On my Nexus 4 it's a little bit laggy. There's no happy setting for the keyboard (small is too small, medium is too big.) The UI doesn't really look polished, though it's perfectly functional and actually has more features that I'm accustomed to, such as multiple characters per box or penciled answers. I don't consider any crossword app without outside sources a valid option, since then you're just stuck buying packs of puzzles by some unknown editor. Of all the ones I've tried (again, minus Shortyz) Crossword has been my favorite so far. If it weren't for the lag and keyboard sizing (and does it even support zoom?) then I'd give it 5 stars, easy.
