Tomb Raider II for Android
The game is extremely fun as the original version and the controls aren't hard to get used to. The problem is that the game will crash or freeze your mobile out of nothing and most times requiring to do a full restart. Maybe something related to lighting, but playing on high settings will freeze you when killing any enemy or in the first in-game cutscene. Putting in medium attenuates this but still crashes when collecting underwater items! Can't finish the game as it is... A pity.
Update on July 29, 2016 broke it on Nvidia Shield Portable and the developer doesn't seem to care at all. The support email adress is not answered. So I'm sitting on a completely useless purchase, since one can't even roll back like one would do on the PC. This is totally unacceptable! AND I cannot even get my bloody money back!!! -.-*
Just finished the game (once again). It has always been my favourite episode, easy enough compared to the others. The controls are a bit tricky at the beginning but with a bit of perseverance you'll get used to them. Definitely worth the purchase for any Lara Croft fan and nostalgics. Hoped to see the third episode episode soon. Thank you for this pearl.
This is an amazing game, but I have one complaint but I found a fix for it. People have been complaining about the controls and I knew how they were before I bought it, so what I did was use my ps4 controller with my phone via blue tooth. The controls take getting used to but we'll worth it.
This game brings me good memories of my childhood, when I used to play Lara Croft the whole night. One of the best characters ever. Please, bring us TOMB RAIDER 3, if possible! TR 3 was the first one I played and the one I fell in love with the games. Please, TOMB RAIDER 3!!!
Played almost all Tomb Raider games. For this Android port over, Lara Croft moves like she's high on drugs. Put in some effort to make the controls work properly please!
Game plays seamlessly and connects with my PS4 controller with no problem. Graphics look beautiful but I guess that's because my screen is a lot smaller than a 60 inch television! Seriously hope they continue to bring these classics to life again. Would be nice to see the extensions such as The Golden Mask and The Lost Artifact available soon too as I have never played them!
it looked good to start with but every time I shoot the birds on the first level the game just locks up and I have to close the game not good. gave one more try and completely locked my phone up only thing left to do is uninstall. waste of money
You can't navigate Lara as efficiently as a controller or PC keyboard. Prepare to die 50 times before making it through just one room.
Blast from the past ! Got a OTG cable so I can use my PS3 gamepad, and I was in heaven ! So over the moon. A tip for anyone who struggles with the on screen controls, pick up a controller (ps3 is around £15) and an OTG cable, it will be well worth it. Improves the gameplay 100% ! A question for the developers, when (or IS ) Tomb Raider 3 coming over to android too, please ? If so, roughly when ? Thank you all, who brought 1 & 2 to android.
Complicated controls are hard to use on touch screen. Tried using Xbox one controller but struggling to get all buttons working. Will be 5 stars if I could use controller.
My screen is 5.5" and the controls are difficult to use. Unfortunately, I don't have PS controllers like other people have so I have no choice but to try to get used to the controls. They can't be a bit annoying when trying to do timer runs and when trying to manoeuvre around to kill something. Aside from controlling issues, this app is perfect. It really is amazing and it brings back great memories. On the plus side, you get two games for the price of one: TR II and TR II Gold!
Since last uprate won't load. Really it has worked fine until update. I bought this game and it don't work because of Google play. Don't say reinstall cause already have. I knew I should not of up dated it. Fix this or money back
The game itself is awesome. However, it's is packed into a very buggy app. My Xperia Z3 has more than enough power to run it seamlessly, but it crashes subtly and bricks my phone for a few minutes (until I can finally get it to force restart). Annoying!
I've had three phones since I first bought this game and it has never worked, it still crashes at the title screen on my s7 edge. I feel robbed, I figured you would get around to making your game work, but since that's never going to happen apparently, can I get a refund?
Love playing this! Brings back so many memories! Like all Android remakes, controls take a little getting used to as they're all on-screen, but so much fun once you get a handle on it. :)
Just beaten the campaign after finishing TR1 and really enjoyed playing TR2 on my Note4. The virtual controls have never been an issue for me, but my only criticism is the really erratic framerate, especially in the latter half of the game - occasionally slowing to about 10fps; off-putting but never a real issue for 90% of the game. Great job otherwise.........Really wish they would release The Lost Artifact for mobile devices.
Everything works better then the ps1 never played the PC version but one big problem the controls don't stick when I jump I use the hang (action button?) And it just doesn't seem to register? Like it doesn't have multi touch or just isn't perfect pressing it? Control pad is fine but stand alone your in trouble playing this and it effects the gameplay. Got it working on 2gb ram devices I remember this been suggested to me on 1gb ram which it was lucky to work the 1st one never mind this word of warning hopefully a update can come for touch pads on screen lovely game though thanks for bringing it to the store
Exactly like the old games. Controlles take a little getting used to. Should have an option to turn off automatic walk. When your running to a timed door or away from things it's a pain in the butt when you end up side stepping and stumbling about because you haven't hit the direction pad right. Other than that it's brilliant , takes me back a few years . Get to play my old fav game now on my phone. Any people experience lags or loading problems try ending any background apps in task manager.
Edit: Warning! After a recent Android security update, neither of my Tomb Raider games will launch. The only solution might be to uninstall and re-download the games, or as Support suggested, reset my phone to factory settings. Restoring my game data from backup doesn't work. My game saves are gone! That's hours of game progress gone! Original review: Sooo good. Brings back memories. It may take a while to get used to the controls, but it's such a good game.
I bought this game and immediately all of the graphics were buggy. All of the audio was bugging too. I can't even refund this mess. What a waste of money.
Its REALLY HARD TO CONTROL. Because of the controls, I cant even get past the first part of the entire game. Plz make camera rotation much easier.
It was a delightful experience to play this nostalgic game on an all new platform. Although I have to admit that the controls were a bit tricky in the beginning, the storyline and plot remains excellent and unhindered. Keep up the good work, Square Enix!
Very difficult controls. The touch screen makes the game 10 times harder, but with practice and patience i would say it is playable, and for as cheap as it is a steal as well.
It once was easy to control, when it had only 8 directions to run/turn, but with this "analogue" control, it's a mess with touch controls. At least make the direction arrows bigger, so you can properly turn while running!
Not only did they re-release an awesome game with good controls for a phone, but they included the Gold version levels. My only issue is that there is no flare button.
This game is done good however I cannot get past the first part because the jump controls are very UN responsive and the auto grab feature is not working also please fix this and get 5 stars thanks
I don't like this game, man I love it, good job, will also like to see TR3 and the last revelation also on android, well done devs please throw in that other two also.
I loved this game since I was a kid. I love how u kept it all the same! But I would like if you would work on making some controls that would work better than the ones in this game :) thank you
Great game with some half decent graphics if you know what to expect. Controls on a touch screen are God awful and definitely would not buy without some kind of Bluetooth controller!
Thank you very much for brought TR II for Android, Square Enix team! Like the first game, I really liked the new textures and the Golden Mask pack available. But unfortunately, there's a few issues with the sounds: the ambient sound doesn't play back after any music and after saving the game. Also, one of the musics is oddly swapped with the Secret sound (a music featured in Opera House level).
I'm so happy that they brought this to the Android platform. The controls are extremely difficult with a touch screen but I use my PS4 controller to play it and it plays exactly the same way that it used to. I love it! Now you need to add the III, last revelation and angel of darkness
The game ran fine when it was first released. I have come back to it now and it seems to crash every time I try to kill an enemy (approx half way through killing it) it autosaves when I return to my home screen so I can continue off from where it crashed, but that is no way to play a game! Excellent game other than this please fix.
It looks and plays very well. Especially on the Nvidia Android TV with the gamepad. It even includes the add on TRII Gold. This version is now best way to play this game. Even more so than the Steam version. Which is literally the old Windows version.
There's a lot that can be said about Tomb Raider 2, it's one of the best in the series and now it's back with updated graphics, although the tank controls require some getting used to but thanks to the ability to customize the controls it makes it pretty easy, definitely the best and definitely my favorite.
Controls take a little getting used to, but it's pretty fun. Got a basic move list up for people who don't know how to do them on the square enix site, look under tomb raiders for ios android
Exactly like the old games. Controlles take a little getting used to. Should have an option to turn off automatic walk. When your running to a timed door or away from things it's a pain in the butt when you end up side stepping and stumbling about because you haven't hit the direction pad right. The HD textures and vibrant colours definitely bring out the beauty of this game but unfortunately the controls are quite tough to get used to and at times really frustrating. I don't think I can complete this without a controller.
A true Tomb Raider unlike the modern games. Diverse environments, challenging platforming, and a sweet, simple story. Brand new textures make the game even more perfect. And I was surprised to see it also includes the bonus game Tomb Raider 2 Gold. The only problem is that this is not meant to be played on touch screen, and I can barely make it through the levels, but with a controller the game is perfection.

So happy to see this being released on Android after following on from the original. It's best played on the Android TV, such a great platform to play Android games. Connected my PS4 controller and its like playing it on my ps1 when it originally came out. The textures are improved and it runs incredibly smoothly on the Android TV. So happy they've kept the original sounds and music. And the addition of all the achievements adds an extra layer of satisfaction when playing!
