FINAL FANTASY for Android
The game constantly stopped. The last two hours I made 5 attempts to kill the boss but the game couldn't play long enough to let that happen. I got this to finish playing this game after a 25 year hiatus. I guess it still won't happen! Also, this has to have a data connection so don't count on playing on an airplane either...
The game itself is a good port of the original NES game. What makes the Android version horrible is that YOU NEED TO BE ONLINE TO PLAY! If you don't have a data connection and try to open the game, it crashes. I bought it looking for something to play when I don't have internet connection, so I basically wasted my money!
The game itself is amazing, however this port has too many issues to be worth the price. It can't be played offline, for starters. The controls are awkward, and take a while to get used to. It sucks up way too much battery. You can't even rotate your screen the other way around! I would not recommend buying until these issues are resolved.
My review is not for the game itself. I love final fantasy. My review is for how terrible it opperates on my device. I spent many hours playing this game and all of a sudden it refuses to launch. I had to reinstall and i lost all of my data..... i want a refund this is ridiculous. I was sold a product that doesnt work.
Dear god the controls are bad. I wish I could get a refund because the controls make it hilariously impossible to navigate throughout the world. Great and now while playing it decided to randomly close losing my progress. I want a refund now. This is absurd. I had a chance to get the refund but I tried downloadibg it again and seeing how bad it actually was. It's HORRIBLE! Refund please.
love final fantasy games in the past. i can get use to the rubbish controls but the constant game crashing and refusing to reload on my s7 not so much. i am very disappointed. i buy a game and cant play it. please fix it. if it was a free game i would care. but i paid for it and feel very disapointed
Let me start by saying I LOVE FINAL FANTASY. I have bought FF1 on everything on from the original NES all the way through the iOS. If I had known that the Dawn of Sorrows content was not included, for God only knows what reason, I wouldn't have purchased this. This is deceptive and, quite frankly, strange to take the time and program-out this ready content. I'm very disappointed. The game is still Final Fantasy, and therefore, pretty good, though. The controls are weird compared to the iOS version, though.
Played for several hours, was having a good time at the Peninsula of Power, and suddenly the game window cut out. Tried to reopen. "Connection Lost, try again?" I have a connection, as I am clearly connected to post this review. Wasted money, can't play this single-player game now because it can't detect a connection.
Severely irritated that I can't play without internet connection. There is no reason to make this a requirement for a single player game, and it severely restricts usage
CAN'T PLAY OFFLINE!!! This is absolute garbage, I will seek a refund. You need to provide this information upfront. Now I can't play it like I planned on my flights where I don't have cell or wifi service. Unacceptable
This game has completely taken me back to my childhood... Thank you for this Square Enix. However, I am hoping for a setting that can allow me to resize the movement cross size. It covers nearly half of my screen and it can get somewhat annoying, another thing that can be bothersome is the fact that I can not play this offline for when I do not have cell sevice, but besides those two complaints, I am greatful for this port.
This was a. great game. Controls werent that bad it wish it told how to run and see map. Pressing status menu not intuituitive. Took about 13 hours to finish with help from guide time to time. Liked it. Get atleast two warriors they are the best class for sure.
Can't play anymore because when poisoned you can't walk on the overworld. Immediately crashes. Continue remembers a point near the beginning of the game only. No extra content like other ports. Black mage hp seems to be purposely low, my equal leveled white mage has almost double the hp. Bad port, don't waste your time.
Decent port of a great game, except that there are No Bonus Dungeons like in the iOS and PSP versions. Inexplicable why they are not included. Edit: no cloud backups and now no offline play. Better off with the GBA or PSP version.
You can not equip items from the menu, nor can you choose your own team. The monk and red mage are ineligible. This game is unplayable offline which is sad.
I've loved this game since the NES days, but the new d-pad makes it almost unplayable. Bluetooth controller support would be a plus. The PSP version has better graphics.
Was a great game, until latest update removed offline play. Since I don't have wifi at home, I can't enjoy this. Bad move Square Enix!
It was great and worth the 5 stars until, for whatever reason, they forced you to have an internet connection to play. The only reason I got this one and not the other Final Fantasy games. Now it's worthless for playing while on flights and such
Great port of FF I. The movement controls are kinda weird but you get used to them after about 10 min. Here's a tip, when in the world view hold down on the window that displays your characters. This will bring up the world map. Very handy but it seems to not be working correctly and the main reason I gave 4 stars. Shows areas and names on side but doesn't show you which icon is tied to which name. Will change score when fixed. Warning! Online only game. It doesn't affect me but if you're buying to play offline, you unfortunately cant.
The controls on this app are horrible. Didn't like the fact that the game crashed often even with my galaxy s8+.
WHY WHY WHY would you not let us sort items manually. Very stupid. And no extra content? Cheap bastards.
Since The last update you cannot play without the internet, that's a complete stupid move , now I can't use my tablet outside of my house to play the game, the reason why I bought the game to begin with. The game itself is good. But this update makes it literally unplayable.
I love this game and would love to give it 5 stars but having to need an online connection every single time you start the app is a bit much. The controls are a little loose at first when it comes to movement but once you get used to it they are fine. I love this game very much but seriously a mobile game that requires an wifi/online connection when you start it up is a bit much.
Its a very good game. Loved it as a kid and I love now as an adult. Brings back great memories. The controls are the only problem. They are very touchy. Other than that its a great game. Here is a suggestion how about a version of Secret of Evermore.
The implementation of controls on the touchscreen are pretty good, but I'm really disappointed about the lack of support for a common bluetooth gamepad.or my apple bluetooth keyboard. To see it on a big TV via chromecast and beeing unable to use my gamepad, thats torture. Don't take big clunky consoles or PCs on hollidays. I always have my phone. The extra space needed for a chromecast stick and a gamepad is small. Better than most tv programs on a rainy day. Still, it's final fantasy on android. Wish I could get the extra content too.
I love the game I still have my original copy on the NES but this port is to buggy game crashes when you walk while poisoned and when the king transform into astos the game crashes so I'm stuck... 5 stars when that is fixed
Terrible decision to require an internet connection to play. Travel speed and virtual d-pad make navigation frustrating. Not a good port of an old favorite.
Game crashed instantly if I attempted to start or resume play without an internet connection. The text also displayed poorly on my device.
Very dissatisfied to have paid so much for this and not able to play offline on Android while my wife can play offline on iOS. My best time to play would be on plane flights so this is completely worthless for me.
This is a very fun game, but I REALLY wish they would allow you to change the volume of the game music and sounds. I love the music, but the sounds from tapping menu items are too loud.
Having grown up playing the original NES cartridge, it was nice to see the updated graphics and translation. The game does seem to play faster than typical, and the floating directional pad can get really frustrating when you are trying to navigate a tight hallway, especially when low on go and random battles keep popping up. Overall game is awesome, just wish there was an option for a fixed directional pad.
Love the Game, Hate the App. Touch buttons are terrible and it requires internet connection. I use to play this on the psp and it was fantastic. Thought having it as an app and playing it on deployments would be nice. NOPE! Connection keeps dropping during road trips or none existent. No connection during deployments. This app put the worse thing possible into a fantastic game. This kind of thing makes me feel like I'm being accused of being a thief. "How dare you play without cell signal! You must have stole it!" Thanks developers, but you basically broke the game for me.
The game was really fun. It was a blast to relive my memories of the past. While it ravaged the battery while mobile, it was easy to play in short bursts. They improved on the original.
Game crashes when I cast protect. Game crashes if I move while poisoned. Game crashes when I try to fight Astos, which makes it unplayable. Playing on Pixel
???? great game! I recommend having a white mage in your party. I got to the final boss and am having a very difficult time with no healing support.
Not being able to play offline is a deal breaker. There's no good reason why you need an active data connection to play this single player game.
Bought this so I had a little something to play on my hiking trip. Turns out it won't even start without a net connection. A NES port that won't work without internet.
Don't get my wrong this is one of my all time favourite games but the game constantly crashes. I bought this intending to play it offline but it was failed to be mentioned that an internet connection is required in order to play.
Love the game, one of my favorites for final fantasy. The controls are really clunky (I've seen better controls in later games), and I've hit a 100% crash when fighting Astos the dark elf king, which has completely halted any progress in the game

Overall, great port. Cannot give it 5 stars simply because of the need to have an internet connection. Now that sounds simple, but hear me out. I have it installed on a Fire 8 HD tablet. Up in the Pocono mountains at a friend's cabin. They don't have internet here. So I have to tether to my phone to play a game? Sorry. Figure out a better DRM plan. This is dumb. I paid for the app. I shouldn't have to prove I paid for it every time I want to play it.
