The game itself is exceptional. Classic jRPG gameplay, a deep monster-catching system and the best story in the series, at least to me. But I have to take off two stars for the glitch that kept cloud save from working for two and a half months. It's fine now, but who knows when another bug will come along? And if you look at FF7, you'll see that sometimes Squeenix Android bugs just never get fixed. Buy at your own risk!

Absolute stunning storyline! Variation of dialogues between each and every characters really adds up to the immersion as well! Playing this game makes you feel as if you're being indulged in the world of Dragon Quest yourself!

You owe it to yourself to give this a try if you're into monster rasing games of any kind. Though far from the first,. DQV inspired quite a lot in the genre. A very good port too, I wish all of Square's ports had the DQ IV-VI quality.

Over world map screen is black, making it almost impossible to play Graphics fine in towns but once you step out of town to world map, screen goes black. This is one of my fave DQ games and I'm upset it's not working right on my Samsung tablet.

Sooooo is glitched at the zoom bloom quest. When I try to get the bloom at night, it won't let me pick it up..... It just walks over it.

Since it's no different than the DS version overall, I don't have any issues gamplay-wise. My only concern is immersion-wise, I feel losing something in the Android version since the character portraits or images only shown in battles. Even it's too small in battles. The character status and face portraits should've taken half the screen since the game is played in portrait orientation, so we get the same proportions like the DS version. Unlike the DS version, the attributes menu in the game shows character sprites rather than portraits. I feel this is pointless since we see the sprites all the time while playing. Meanwhile, the portraits only seen in battle (did I mention it's too small?), making Toriyama's art that we should feel present in a DQ game kinda absent. It's a loss for a DQ game. I hope the developer still wants to just give an update so portraits will be seen in attributes menu too, just like the DS version.

Dragon Quest 5 is just one of those games you will never get sick of, I love it to bits and have personally played over 200 hours easy. It's not a lot of money and it's so worth it????????

At it's core, it's a very solid rpg. The touch screen control is a huge compromise though, making some areas frustrating to get through.

It has been my favourite since 20 years ago. I played this game when it was released in SFC, but never finish. 10 years later, I got a chance to play the remake version in PS2, yet again I did not finish it as I was so busy getting myself in a college. Cant believe this time... it goes with me everywhere (even on plane), allowing me to finish off what I started and clear up everything unresolved in the past. This brings back lots of my childhood memory. Good job Square Enix. Thanks for making the great game.

By the end of this game I felt like I went through a life time in this game. The immersive story, extensive gameplay and quirky characters were so engaging that complementing it has left me somewhat empty. I have no experience with the handheld version but the mobile phone port was done really well from a blind perspective. I'm definitely looking forward to trying other games in this series. I have quite a bit of catching up to do.

It was between DQ 5 or FF VI. Aaaaahh! The controls, music, and graphics are average at best. 1st time I try DQ series...and it's going to be last. Loooooove FF Tactics! DQ is light years away from FF Tactics. ..at least in the Fun Factor category. Wish tactics Ogre or Vandal Hearts Android updated versions were available. DQ is booooooring!

Dragon Quest, the series that separates the children from the real Adventurers. In a day before save everywhere and chronic restarting of levels came to be the norm we had Dragon Quest and Dragon Warrior! I laugh at all the children crying because they can't save everywhere. Welcome to the days games challenged gamers.

I played a few Dragon Quest games before and decided to get back into the series. This one had one of the best ratings and I can see why. I'm glad I came across this game. Great gameplay and story. One awesome game.

The controls suck at first, but can get used to them. I'd really like to see a version for android TV, like the final fantasy apps. Needs controller support.

Cloud save is still broken. I emailed SE five days ago and got no reply. Will rewrite review when it's fixed.

Q70%
by Q####:

This is the first time I've been able to complete a Dragon Quest game. I tried the DS versions of IV and V, but they never "clicked"with me. This is an enhanced port of the DS version, and it keeps that portrait orientation, but removes the DS hinge-bar. The battle animations are top-notch, the cloud saves are great, if you have a phone and a tablet that you want to switch between, and the click-anywhere controls make it really easy to navigate without getting in your own way. This really is a great port.

Can't even grab my cloud save off my new devices, because it keeps saying that Google play services have failed, as well as my signal not being good.. tried for all 3 dragon quest games 5, 6, and 8.
