What are users saying about DRAGON QUEST

A great pocket-sized RPG that's easy to understand and can be beaten in a relatively short time. This is essentially the first modern JRPG, and so it's very basic, but still satisfying to play and is a good introduction to the series (if you want something more substantial, play Dragon Quest II, which is only $2 more)

Just a perfect example of how to port an old 8-bit to the mobile platform. Well done and perfect adaption of the controls. Much love was put into the development of this port, much like the love I poured over this game when I first played the original Dragon Warrior on the NES. I look forward to working my way through this series again!

This thing is a mess. You can do better than that. I want my money back.

So many years since I've donned my copper sword and set out to slay the slimes! Thank you for a great update to an old favorite!

N70%
by N####:

Good mobile version of the classic, but it did tend to crash an awful lot. Make sure you use the quick save judiciously.

L70%
by L####:

This is one stupid game. Unless you want to run around the same little area for WAY too long and nowhere enough anything to raise level, ignore this ridiculosity. Surely you can spend money on something useful....like a pretzel. That"s what this game is worth. Sorry, didn't mean to diss wheat flour.

E70%
by E####:

Great game, but gave away some of the exploring with that "twinkle" feature. Also, the generous gold/exp made this game too easy.

N70%
by N####:

While this game does still seem to require online for the initial start, it no longer causes the gane to black screen.

Q70%
by Q####:

I like the actual game but I mostly get error messages when I try to load it very rarely does

N70%
by N####:

The definitive role-playing game. The first franchise to have its own orchestra!

Can't access the menu button because it doesn't register. Instead you move to the right. This is on my LG G3, and emailed with no help. First Square Enix game to give me trouble.

B70%
by B####:

Its weird not having a controller, but all in all found this enjoyable :)

N70%
by N####:

Could use controller input. Sides of screen seem odd, low resolution on large screens. Good game, despite the port being a little peculiar in some cases.

N70%
by N####:

Never could get into the original on the NES when I was a kid but I'm definitely enjoying playing through this on the mobile port.

Got used to the GUI, now I like it :)

A70%

great game but the controls can be frustrating.

N70%

Great game, but collected everything in a day. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who played the hell out of the NES version.

A fantastic look at the grandfather of all RPGs.

This isn't the regular version of Dragon Warrior!

Epic. Memories playing the original Dragon Warrior for NES.

Almost perfect. Only issue is a No Cloud Backup feature.

Had a blast. Brought back good memories of playing original with my friends.

N70%

It was the best game ever!!

L70%

The translation here is pitch perfect, better than the original.

Fun game, easy to play. Made me get the next one.

Great remake of an absolute classic. Well done!

B70%

Brings me back to favorite rpg of my childhood

N70%
by N####:

Definitely the best version of the game. Brings together the balancing and risk/reward element of the classic versions, alongside a proper localization. I'm not a fan of touch controls in general but here they are very polished.

N70%
by N####:

I want to play this game so bad, but it simply is not optimized for my phone which is a Samsung Galaxy s8 plus. All of the on screen buttons are not where you think they would be. All of the hit zones for the buttons are above them making movement thought the menus clunky. I hope this is fixed very soon

N70%
by N####:

Dragon Warrior was the first game I got with my NES as a kid in the 80's, I loved it and also played it with an emulator on PC. This app game is much better because the experience and gold received for defeating enemies is quite generous so you don't have to spend huge amounts of time grinding like on NES.

N70%
by N####:

Changed my rating from 1 to 3 since it appears that the compatibility problem with the Note 4 has been fixed (it was entirely unplayable before). I will try to revisit with a more accurate rating once I have time to play.

F70%
by F####:

Stupid app won't display correctly and I can see the bottom half of my screen. All my other apps work fine, I even have part 4 and it works fine too.

N70%
by N####:

A great port of the original. It's significantly easier than the original NES release, but this fits with the more casual nature of mobile devices. It's become a great pick up and play RPG instead of a tough, grueling RPG.

N70%
by N####:

As someone with an extensive Final Fantasy background, I like having these good old classics to play. While DQ1 hasn't exactly aged all that well (it's 30+ years old!), it maps pretty well to modern mobile devices and is certainly worth a shot if you're looking for some nostalgia.

C70%
by C####:

Absolutely hate the controls on this one. Its a touch screen people, i don't need a control pad on the screen. Could be so much better with a point and click/drag and click interface. I mean, its not like you REALLY need a direction pad to play the game.

B70%
by B####:

Love the improvements to controls and UI, but there were so many awesome aspects of the original NES that got axed for "upgrades" when ported. I miss the original graphics and chip tunes. Just looks and sounds god awful compared to the original. Balancing has definitely been messed with to make things slightly easier, which cuts down on some of the grind (so I guess that's better?). It's great to play natively on my phone without emulation, but man, this version is seriously less charming than the original.
