5th Edition Spellbook for Android
Absolutely great app. Picked it up a few months when my group switched to 5e and everyone was impressed enough to download it on the spot. The only, and very minor, issue I have is that while you can add new/custom spells to the book, you can't add custom classes/archtypes for those of us working with 3rd party or Unearthed Arcana info. Everything else works amazingly.
It is such an amazing app to use in and out of gameplay. When my players don't know a spell I can look it up look in no time! There's no more flipping through books to find anything. It makes tracking spells for players and NPCs easy too! It's pretty much the go to app for an organized spellbook. It's so convenient that it makes me sad it's not on iOS yet! Seriously make it available for iOS too, right now with what's available for download on iOS I believe that you'd have no problem beating competition!
This app is great! It really is. My one problem with it so far is that the "Cancel" and "Set" buttons aren't very clear when trying to enter your modifier values (I could only see "Ca" and what looked like "SF"). One feature I'd love to see is a Multiclass feature that would allow us to have the spells and modifiers of multiple classes in one place. Although setting up a second spellbook isn't that bad.
I'm running two 5e games every week and playing in a third, and I don't know how I could do it without this app. I have spellbooks for my PC, as well as all my important NPC's and villains. The app is light and fast, exactly what you want from a quick reference like this. I'm getting ready to run Curse of Strahd, and, reading through the book, I can see how this app is going to save me a lot of time and page-flipping. Kudos to the developer for a wonderful product. Now, how about a Monster Manual, eh? :-)
Love this app does what it says very useful. Could have a little more option but this is the best app I have found. It now has Elemental Evil Spells. And it has a spot where you can make custom spells. Could be organized a little better for the custom spells. I didn't notice the option till I accidentally clicked on the + when looking at all spells. It has SCAG as a source book in the filter but is missing the only 3 cantrips that are in the book. Other than that it is awesome for quick look up
First of all I want to say that this is a great app for D&D players, and especially the spellcasters. Although I would like to make a couple of suggestions if I may. First I can't find the cantrips from the Sword Coast Adventure's Guide and second when I try to add a new spell and I chose "none" & "5 feet" in the fields range, in the display it appears like "none,5 feet" and not just "5 feet". Thank you guys and keep up the good work!!!
I don't purchase items unless they are worth it. This is worth it. Does not include Unearthed Arcana or Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, and no way to add your own archetypes for ease, but on the other hand, it lets you grab spells from any class to add with a simple filter search. Do I wish it could do more? Sure, but for what it is, it couldn't do its job better, & I'm looking forward to the next updates.
Love this app. Allows me to keep track of spells and slots left between sessions and even between characters. Am able to run multiple characters when needed too. This app is simply amazing! The only issue Ive run into is the filter sometimes tweaks out but exiting and restarting seems to fix it.
Honestly, you guys did a really good job. Thank you for making this app, and for continuing to maintain it. I'm very glad I found this app, and I'm happy that it's so easy to use. The only thing is, you guys seem to be missing support for some races, like the Aasimar. Are they not 5e? Do you generally only support races/classes from the basic 5e stuff, and not the expansions? Aside from that, thank you! Please continue making my life marginally better through the betterment of this app.
I've found this to be an invaluable tool for spellcasters in my games, both as a player and a DM. The ability to track spell slots, update spell save DCs/modifiers/etc. in conjunction with the "spell cards" that give a detailed description right out of the PHB... I rate this with the Squire 5E character manager for usefulness. Sure, I wish I hadn't needed to insert the SCAG spells by hand, but it's not that bad. Every game I play now, this app is open next to my character sheet. :-) Great app!
I love this app, it's great. It even let's me add my own spells. The only problem I have, is that all of the spells I add are lumped together in the custom group. If I could separate my custom spells into different groups, and potentially add page numbers to those custom spells I would definitely give it 5 stars. For example if I wanted to add a spell from "homebrew: x page: y" I would be able to group all of the spells from homebrew: x together and indicate which page of the homebrew each spell was from.
Pretty damn good! I love using it for referencing spells instead of using precious minutes looking them up in the PHB. Only thing it is lacks support for (in my eyes) is multiclassing. Because now I have to make two spellbooks for one character. Or just be able to set up a folder for one character, as the amount of spell books rise. Only thing keeping this from a five star review. Also, would it be possible add the ability to edit bonus spells? As in add in ekstra patrons/domains/oaths etc? Because I'd like to use a few unearthed arcana options and I can't do that as the app is now.
I love this app but there is only one problem preventing me from giving it 5 stars. I'm on a galaxy S6 and the 4 spells from SCAG aren't appearing anywhere in the app. unfortunately those spells benefit my eldritch Knight alot so I have to use a separate spellbook for those spells. I've tried with filters on and off. but other then that a very good reliable spellbook
Super useful tool for finding and organizing spells based on class, level, etc. Easy interface, easy to research your spells, and a much better resource than just pouring through the book. It also uses spells from the Elemental Evil book as well, so you gain that resource for free if your DM allows it. The downside is that there are some grammar and spelling issues here and there. Nothing a little editorial cleanup crew can't handle. And it isn't enough of an issue for me to drop my review to 4 stars.
Upgrade filters to throw out concentration or somatic... spells from spellbook (prepared spells) and fast find what you can do at a moment when you cant tolk, use hands... GO banned tag to opposite of selection tag in filter boxes... And maybe to insert materijal spell mark if slots of material are full with no. of charge... I think wil not be lot of work and will make this app more greater... And tnx for this app i love it... :-)
Edit: Didn't watch the video until after I wrote this. Love the app. Makes managing multiple characters spells easy and the ability to edit spells, say for a warlocks invocations that add modifiers, is very handy. Only gripe I have is that I cannot figure out how to track spell slots used even after "Buying you a beer"
Relly good app. Nice to make quick look up for spells. And to use as a spell book. (I still uses the Spell card for spells that I know) But I do miss two things. 1) The SCAG spells 2) A way to export/import spellbooks, spell and comment to spells #2 is more when I get a new phone that I do not have to type all of my notes or homebrewed spell againg. And also so I could send or receive homebrew spells.
This is a really cool way to keep track of spells, I do have a question about how to use it though. I figured out how to add spells to the spellbook and to the prepared list but how do I add spells to the slot list? I know how to create slots but like my cantrip slot says 0/4. How do I show spells in those slots? EDIT: Nevermind, I totally figured it out. This app is awesome!
The app is great. Could benefit from an alert that lets you know you've run out of spell slots for a given level. Otherwise awesome. Very helpful for game night; I can manage 3 spell casters at the same game without all the clutter of paper!
Over all great app, a few things that would be great, add Volo Races, some spells when 'prepaired' show up duplicated in the prepaired table. (Keeps happening with Pass without a Trace for me). Also would be nice to have a 'how many spells you can prepair' tally some where.. just me nick picking an overall great all! Thanks to the devs.
Great app. Much better than the other one I was using because you can sort spells by class. My only complaint is that it doesn't have the Sword Coast content. It's not a huge deal so it wasn't with taking off a star, but if it isn't added I may have to switch back to the other app I was using since I'm involved in 2 games where people are using those spells.
It's a super smooth interface, once I got used to it. That's a me problem, not in the app. Could use a tag or label option for sorting in the Prepared List to designate Cleric Domain/Archetype/Paladin Oath/etc. spells. Since they don't count against your prepared spell count, it would be nice to just be able to color code them to differentiate.
Great app. Extremely useful as I like casters and play in multiple groups. I do wish that there was an "Edit" button when looking at a spell. (just like the "Add to Spellbook" button.) It's really annoying to have to back out of the spell, locate the spell in the list, select it, and then edit it, if you want to change something. I discovered two bugs: 1) Make a custom spell. Sort the spell list by level. Find your spell in the list and click on it. When you exit the spell description, your custom spell will now be at the bottom of the spell list, instead of sorted correctly. Refreshing the spells (by sorting by name, and then back to sorting by level) will put it back in the correct position but only until you click on the spell again. 2) When you have a custom spell in the spellbook, and set the book as from SCAG, it will not list the Book you have for it. The field is blank.
Overall it is a fantastic app that I would recommend doing to all D&D players for 5th edition. Makes life so much simpler. My only gripe is the lack of races and spells from books other than the Player's Handbook. Hope there is an update on the way to add these
This is a wonderfully useful tool for tracking your spell's at the table. It certainly beats multiple sheets of paper and constantly referencing multiple books. Only found a few minor gripes when adding custom spell's. There's no way to edit them after creation, and instantaneous spells still require a duration to be entered.
Praises: Spellbooks are easy to edit and manage. Complaints: I think spell slots should autopopulate based on the race/class/level you input when making a new spellbook. Likewise, spells granted by races should also be added.
Really helpful, easy to use, good-looking reference app for both players and DMs. Make sure to double check spells you're not familiar with though, I have had some cases of wrong casting times and minor stuff like that. No access to any of the races outside the PHB, but I doesn't affect your spellbook, so it's just a minor annoyance. Creators are pretty responsive to feedback, so let them know if you have issues!
There is a bug that when you select what level spells you want, and then select what school you want, it forgets about the level you selected and you have to unselect the level and pick it again before it works again. Also, some necessary suggestions: let us pick multiple levels (like: I want to see all the level 1 and level 2 spells, because that's all the spellslots I have) and let us UNselect materials (like: I only want to see spells that DON'T have the somatic requirement because I am a dual wielder)
Really handy. I'd donate to the author and give it 5 stars but it has one flaw: it does not include the spells from the Sword Coast Adventurers Guide. I think the author meant to include them because there is a box on the filter list, but they aren't there. This addition feature would make it perfect.
It's so useful, I use this for all of my characters, and recommend it to all of the players in my playgroup. The only thing I would change, is that I am presently unable to change the order of my characters on the main menu, and it doesn't auto-sort alphabetically, which I wish I could change. Let me know if I'm just missing something, but otherwise this app rules!
This app is great, until you find out you can't delete a spell from your book... I have accentual duplicates and have changed my characters spells. Also, some class specific aren't in the app, I think that these discussions class only spells should be added.
Great app, has everything you would need. Not all the spell text is identical, and it would be nice to change the menu color and not only the card color. Hope you enjoyed the beer!
This is perfect for setting up spellcasting villains. It keeps me from having to flip through the PHB to find each spell.
My only criticism is that spells from SCAG don't seem to be on the list, which from what I can tell is something the developer is already working on. Overall a tremendously useful app that makes finding and tracking spells incredibly easy.
Outstanding development and management tools for players and DMs alike. Everyone at my table uses it, and as a DM, it provides quick reference for NPCs. Now with the ability to add your own homebrew spells or the occasional overlooked spell from expansions. If possible, would help to save a backup spell list to cloud in case of device change or device failure.
The only thing I see is that the filters have a few discrepancies. For example, the spell Fireball is a Wiz/Sorc spell but it shows when filtering for cleric spells, but when you go into the description of the spells it clearly states it's Wiz/Sorc. I would optimize the filters. Great job nonetheless!!!!
General use is awesome. Love the addition of spell slot tracking. ISSUES: no support for custom cleric domains, and preparing spells for cleric is incorrect for 5e. UPDATE: contacted by developer promptly, and working to resolve the issues. Excellent customer service (+1 star).
New to D&D, don't have any other books besides the Player's Handbook, and this app is PERFECT. Got all my spellcasting PCs to download it and it beats having to pass around the player's handbook anytime someone wants to cast a spell. Very user-friendly and the wide range of filters is awesome. Highly recommend. EDIT: I did want to add, however, that many spells have typos and grammatical errors in them. Not enough to make them unreadable but still noticeable. Just something to work on. Still incredible!!
My dm and I ran into a problem with druid spell you guys need to sort the spells better such as only that class can use on that filter

I was going to buy all the 5e spell cards but this app saved me all that money. Just for that I bought the developer some beer. The developer really deserves it for all the features that are in this app. This saves me time by having all my spells ready on the fly so I spend less time flipping through pages and more time having fun. The ability to keep track of spell slots is extraordinary. The one complaint I have is some of the text in menus is cut off but it was very minor and didn't impede me.
