About MAME4droid (0.139u1)
MAME4droid (0.139u1) is developed by David Valdeita (Seleuco) as a port of the MAME 0.139 emulator by Nicola Salmoria and the MAME team. It emulates arcade games supported by this version of MAME which includes over 8000 different ROMs.
* MAME4droid is an EMULATOR and DOES NOT INCLUDE ROMS OR COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL OF ANY KIND.
This version of MAME4droid was designed to be used with dual-core Android devices because it is based on the PC MAME version which requires higher specifications than the older versions.
Even with a high end device, do not expect "modern" arcade games from the 90s and beyond to necessarily work at full speed or compatibility. Some games like Outrun and the Mortal Kombat series are badly optimized and require at least a 1.5ghz dual core device.
With over 8000 games supported, some games will run better than others; some games may not run at all. It is impossible to support such a vast number of titles, so please do not email the developer asking for support for a specific game.
After installing, place your MAME-titled zipped roms in /sdcard/MAME4droid/roms folder.
This MAME4droid version uses only '0.139' romset.

This is superb, but one thing would make it superber ,the option to add extra buttons. I need at least 11 separate buttons to be able to play Noraut poker. Does anyone ,or the developer ,know if a Bluetooth keyboard would let you register keys using the 'input this game' tab? Doesn't work when I invoke the built in android keyboard.

If you know what you're doing, this app is great. Controls are hard to do on a touch screen but that's not the developer's fault. If you can't get your roms to work, don't blame it on the developer. I've gotten every single rom in my library to run on this app. If you're new to MAME, please educate yourself on this topic first before complaining about the app. It's more than likely your own incompetence getting in the way. Overall, nice job on this emulator.

It's great, but not perfect. There's no CHD support (which i dont hold on the app itself, bc i dont believe normal M.A.M.E. does), which means that games on CD based hardware don't work. Other than that, it works really well.

I have street fighter 3 running on the shield tab The sound is bad but it plays sf3 OK with out sound. Fix the sound issues and I'll give it 5 stars all day

I need help, please for the love of god. I am trying to load Super punch out (arcade) rom on this app, and I did it right, I am just on the wrong screen. There are two screens to the game, and I am on the one that displays the high scores. The screen I am supposed to be looking at is supposed to be the area of where the fighting is happening. If you help me out, I'll rate ya a five.

this is the best arcade emulator for Android, I just hope that in another update it will emulate games faster, and with better graphics speeds cause some games move so slow like primal rage arcade,but is nice t be able t play my favorite game golden axe revenge of dead alder!!

Something broke in the last few updates as I have had this for a few years & game ROMs which are (0.139) now says chd etc missing & won't load .....5 stars if fixed thanks

Brilliant, classig arcade games i used to play in the 80s sometimes difficult to control on touch screen though. May try a bluetooth controller if its compatible.

Was using Retroarch's MAME emulator for awhile until I installed Mame4droid. I love the interface on this one and how I'm able to actually see the game titles instead of the zip file names only. That alone made it easier for me switch to using this app instead.

This Android Mame emulator works great, easy to set up and download ROMs then play... Highly recommended for Gen X gamers who grew up playing those classic coin up arcade games back in the days...

I Rate it 5Star if it can Run Nes/Snes Roms Sega genesis GBA etc.... Format that only working was CPS1/CPS2/NeogeoArcade Roms... It lack Reset botton also.. It would be better if the Virtual Keypad are white transparent like the Ppsspp. #HoweverItwasAGoodEmulator.

The PC version of MAME is still better than Android. And that's thanks to being able to play CHD-based games at decent speeds. I'd rate it higher, otherwise.

C'mon guys, quit faulting this (FREE!) emulator and the developer when its clearly lack of appropriate research by the user. DO YOUR HOMEWORK! This emulator may not play every ROM but there is no 1 mame emulator out there (android or pc) that is capable of playing all of them. Some ROMs just dont run, PERIOD! And you may have to try several different ROMs before they work. Bottom line is David has done an AMAZING job with this and continues to make it better. Thank-you to an amazing developer.
