Sonic the Hedgehog™

I am glad this is the remake and not emulation. Because it is not emulated the sound and graphics are on point, the touch controls work well and connecting a bluetooth controller is even better. But I have two problems, first being a delay on input from my controller. I don't know if it is the joy-cons fault but it will have about a half a second delay to button and joystick inputs. The other problem is the ads, there are to much ads in this. Every time you beat a level there is an ad, every time you pause there is also an ad, every time you click start game there is an ad. That is really annoying and I am not saying they can't have ads but there is just to much ads, I want them to lower to the amount of them used.

Sonic is my all time favorite game, & I was so excited to download it. BUT got disappointed... The controls Lag so bad you can be holding the control right and he's walking backward to the left. The time between you pressing the controls and sonic reactions is so far off you can't really control him at all. He needs to be more responsive, more quickly, to the controls. Fix that bug and it would be the amazing game that took up so much time in my childhood

Games companies need to look towards Sega and this business model as the correct way to make a mobile game. A good, classic game running well, no adverts during gameplay, and a single video as between levels if you win. No microtransactions in sight except the option to remove advertisements for £2 which is a very good deal! I'm looking forward to seeing what comes next

Sonic, lovingly restored with a few extras. Touchscreen d-pad controls are well implemented if a bit fiddly. Time attack mode is fantastic! No leaderboards or Google Play Games integration which are advertised, right? Am I missing something? Pixel, android 7.1.2, app version 3.0.1, paid for no ads.

I only gave it 3 stars because im getting a weird glitch that makes it so instead of a jump sound, there is a loud static noise in my ear. Im gonna give Sega the benefit of the doubt and guess this glitch is only affecting me. Im gonna try to reinstall. EDIT: After a reinstall the static is no longer affecting my jump sound, but it still comes up when near some enemies, such as the pihranas. Will add another star because its less annoying now <3 Hopefully this gets fixed :/

Worked fine on my phone although the on screen controls sort of suck. Said it was compatible with my Nvidia Shield TV, but won't show up on the home screen. Would be AWESOME if I could play it there. I will totally drop money on this if it starts working properly on the Shield.

Absolutly brilliant!! I can't overstate how awesome this is! It's a full game that is completly free and offline which is amazing. It does have ads, but I understand that they need to put ads since it's free, and you can pay a small fee to remove them. Overall 10/10, please keep it up and keep 'em coming.

Fantastic reproduction of Sonic 1. Really takes me back even though I've played it already on so many different consoles. Awesome to have it on my phone, digital controls work really nicely. My one gripe is the jump sound effect seems incomplete, or wrong. Hopefully this can be fixed. Otherwise, awesome game!

This is an awesome game. However the developer falsely advertises offline play. You can't play the game without some kind of data connection. This would be fine and is understandable but to lie so that people will download and play it is just wrong.

Thanks sega it is better than the other sonic because on old sonic one if you go on spikes it spikes you until sonic loses a life and you dont have any files and you have to complete the game in one attempt. Suggestion: I think a lot of people will love it if you make KNUCKLES in sonic 3 not sonic the hedgehog 3 but knuckles. I'm saying this because if you make sonic the hedgehog 3 there is 6 zones but in Knuckles in sonic 3 there's more zones and if you make it free you'll get more Sega fans!

Always online required! Bare-faced liars! For a single player only game that's not cool, especially as it isn't needed for any major features other than collecting aggregate data. Blooming stupid.

This is nearly a perfect score for me but I'm having an issue with the sound. Every time I hit jump I get a static "SCHHH" noise. Hopefully a reinstall will fix it. Playing ad-free because no thank you.

Playing on Galaxy S7, the game has ridiculous slowdown issues. The frame rate drops to less than half of what it should be, making the entire experience unenjoyable. To add insult to injury, I was able to work around the loophole of not being able to purchase the paid version through the Play Store by buying it in the app, but still can't download it. PLEASE fix these issues for S7 - I REALLY want to play these games, and don't have the disposable income to drop on a whole new mobile device just to play Sonic 1, 2, and CD :(

The only sega forever game that runs smooth in my cellphone. I've noticed the graphics aren't just emulated but smoother than the original. It Even adds a way to play with Tails and Knuckles too! Truly, Christian Whitehead is the savior of Sonic.

Great game anyone saying about buying it in the past it doesn't change for you. It's just for people who haven't now have the chance to play it but with ads. Buying it removes it. It seems to be a great system up to now. Sega Forever!

This port is by the same guy working on Mania... I can see why he was hired. The controls are great, the game runs smoothly, and the game looks better than ever in HD. Simply amazing, and now it's FREE!!!! Spectacular!!! SEGA FOREVER!!!!!

This is so well done! Adding spin dash was the smartest move and the only thing left for Sonic 1 to be one of the best platformers ever. Controls are spot on and not only can you choose their position you can also set their opacity! Thumbs up for this amazing effort!

Edit : i tried reinstalling and now it works, not sure how it failed the first time, but updating my rating just to say that. Original review :Offline play? Seriously? I got a message telling me to connect to the internet and then the game refuse to start. I even already bought the game because i like the graphic and how good the control is, even on touch screen. But this is absurd. Pls fix

Flawless, the game is awesome. Auto saves, controller and touchpad both work, updated wide screen graphics, cartridge art that can be changed per region, and a great menu design; what more could you ask for. I just wish the rest of Sega Forever would stick to this format.

This game for me doesn't play well with the virtual controls but it's amazing that it works with 360 controller and pixel XL phone. I'm feeling the nastalga and this is what gaming is all about

Its a great way to bring back the original game. And its free so theres no way you can complain about a few adds here and there to pay for the peoples time and hard work to bring this game back for us to enjoy mobile for FREEEEEE

I grew up playing Sonic the Hedgehog and I have great memories of playing it. This reminds me exactly of how it was. And the best part is that there's saves now! I'm not a fan of onscreen controls, but these ones are perfect. I don't have an issue with them and I haven't accidentally pressed one direction when I meant to press a different one. Love this, and I'm going to recommend my friends to get it.

Absolutely brilliant to be playing Sonic on my phone, the only problems I've found so far are the controls are slightly awkward so I'll be getting a controller when I can, and the caterpillars in the Marble Zone break up like they should but the pieces just keep bouncing around and taking all my rings. Apart from that though it's amazing, I can't wait for more classic Mega Drive games to be released.

Too big size file, we can play an emulator with 2 MB and get better performance. This is the best of SEGA forever, but it not so good!

This is awesome I'm a huge Sega fan can't wait to see what the next Sega forever game is keep up the splendid work and don't let negative comments stop this wonderful thing cause I'm 14 and never got to play alot of dreamcast,Sega Genesis and Sega Saturn games so I'm looking forward to the future of this

This game's a ripoff, it says it has "offline play" but you can't even start the game without internet connection, plus it takes up 91 MB worth of space on my phone!!! And there are ads literally everywhere, it's worse than trying to play a Flash game on computer. 0/10 would recommend.

Please allow the game to have cloud saving through play games. It will be very useful. But so far 4 stars. Also the game still cannot be played offline.

Amazing job SEGA!!! Couldn't be any happier, not too many ads and you can skip them, great visuals, the controls are responsive, plus the sound is ON POINT! What's even better is that this is free! Thx Sega! (P.s pls add Sonic 2 and 3 soon, dying to play them on mobile)

This game runs very smoothly with surprisingly tight controls. The graphics are just a tiny bit updated so it looks REALLY smooth. With a low price $1.99 for the ad-free version, I'm tempted to buy it!

The control is impossible. Instead of a fixed location joystick, how about a swipe left/right anywhere changes direction? It's impossible to keep your thumb in one place without constantly looking at it and therefore making mistakes in the game.

Omg the controller sucks so bad. Unplayable even on my s8+. It is nice having all these games I played as a kid on my phone just need to refine the joystick.

I honestly was hoping it wasn't just the genesis version repackaged for mobile users, but was pleasantly surprised to see Christian Whitehead behind this version. Me being a huge fan of their Sonic CD and Sonic 2 ports, my hopes skyrocketed, and as soon as I started playing the game (after an Angry Birds ad...), I was immediately in love with it. It's honestly THE best version of Sonic 1 out there. I sincerely do hope that they put this out on consoles and PC one day, but maybe not since Sonic Mania is coming out pretty soon.

Contrary to press releases, this game doesn't work offline. Has already given me a ton of push notifications. I was really on board with sega forever but this was a pretty bad experience.

A classic perfected for a new generation. Thank you. Real games don't need blood and explosions. Now bring back Toejam and Earl!

All awesome. Bring back the megadrive, it could definitely compete as an alternative console in todays market, like a nes mini but with new games being released on old hardware.

Full of adds that you don't understand where to click on and the worse : they are back all the time in a very high definition = bandwidth of your internet (completely opposite of the game)... The pixels are so big that even for free... No.... You should be paid to pay on such 80s games...

Great port. Only problem I have is sometimes it will make a static audio glitch every time I jump. Fix that and it's perfect IMO

This game is ok if you like retro games. I didn't really like it but I guess you have to have an acquired taste for this.

I played this game when it originally came out so the nostalgia is real. But, I remember in the first game he never had spin dash but now he does. What's up with that?

Great sense of nostalgia here..... Only thing is they added the spin dash to the original.... Not complaining just saying its bot 100% the original lol
