Great Little War Game for Android
Been hankering for a game like this for ages and this ticks all the boxes. Like a Gollop Bros. game of old (Laser Squad/XCom) but with the humour of Sensible's Cannon Fodder. If you have fond memories of any of those old Amiga games you'll love this! :)
I thought the name was a little presumptuous when I first saw it in the play store. However, after playing the game on both the Android and PC, I can honestly say that it lives up to its name. The graphics a colorful and funny. The game play is very good, and the story line is funny to boot.
I like all sorts of war games, computer, board and card counters type. GLWG is a lovely little game that can be played for a lot of fun, not too taxing but still requires a bit of thought. Animations are good and reasonable A1. Suitable for ages 8 to 80.
Please, we got this game for the Nook, and it is taking 5 minutes for the helicopters to got across the screen, everything is moving very slow, can't even play the game. I haven't had this problem with other games, pls will it get fixed? If it doesn't work on the Nook, how do we get our $ back? We would love to play this, thanks!!!
Great Little War Game offers an excellent strategic affair with a healthy dose of tongue in cheek humor and great pacing. Add in hot seat play and skirmish modes and it becomes rather difficult to pass this one up. The campaign provides more than adequate challenge even at early stages especially if one is so inclined to chase gold standard ranking throughout. Highly recommended for strategy fans and even more so if you are into the Advance Wars series on Nintendo's systems.
This game has not changed for years but will cost you more than it did when it came out. You have to rate the game to unlock troops, so here is my rating...
Great little strategy game that is only let down by it taking soooooo many turns to get anywhere. If it could be speeded up a little in would be perfect, as it is I end spending way more time than I meant to playing it Download it and enjoy
It's good and simple. But it's plodding. Engineers disappear after use so you need another one. Many choke points slow things down. Money slow to roll in. Can't land anywhere but the beach (not many beaches).
This game is a lot of fun and will keep you entertained for hours on end. Easier on a tablet, but great on my GS3 Thanks to great graphics and being able to zoom. A couple of suggestions for the devs: save game backup/restore from sd (port btween tablet and phone) and an undo move option for shooting an enemy. I also bought the PC game (Great Big War Game) through Steam and its awesome too!
In a word, excellent. Really well made, I love playing it, many many hours of downtime have been filled with this game. If I were to say one negative thing it would be related to how much battery the game guzzles, but overall that's minor thing. Definitely recommend to any strategy game fans out there!
I've played a couple different versions of these games and completed all difficulty levels. They're all very addictive and easy to play on the move. Don't require an Internet connection which is handy when you're on the tube or a flight. Getting a gold standard is very easy on some levels whereas it seems impossible on other levels (so I just settle for silver). If you like turn based strategy like Battle Isle or XCOM you'll probably love having this on your phone or tablet
A very nice, turn based, strategy game. Easy to learn but difficult to master, 2 game modes & trying to better your score give it some replay value. Can be frustrating as most games start with the AI seriously outnumbering you & having a lot more resources. Also drains the battery very quickly on the Galaxy S2.
This game is the best game on my phone and probably the best fame you can find on android. The animations are smooth, the dialogues are funny, and the gameplay is amazing! This game has kept me entertained for hours. I definately recommend you this game. The only thing is I wish you didnt have to 'pass and play' and just kinda play online. But its not that big of a deal. Anyways, it definately deserves a 5/5
This is a great game. Simple to play but also challenging. Android lacks some serious stratedgy games but Great Little War Game fills the gap with distinction. Any experienced gamer will relate this game to advance wars from the GBA. Can be addictive but also easy casual fun to just play and stop at any timd. Very good game 5 stars
The levels are a little long. I enjoy the graphics and sound effects. It is well out together but the levels are a little tight in the beginning. I didnt like how a tank can't destroy a grunt in one shot. I get its a game, but come on, it's a tank. I think there could of been a little more versatility applied to the units. I have do like the game but being a huge fan of Advance Wars this was a step down.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is an excellent platform to play this clever game. Got three so far and hope more will come. Maybe something about capturing enemy tanks and using it against them... just an idea. You can reward me later ;)
I just recently was looking for different strategy game apps I could buy. This is the best one I could find so I took a risk and bought it. And let me tel, you I am glad I took that risk. It is an amazingly fun game and I just love it. You have to buy this. One of he best strategy games out there and notice how I didn't say apps. This is he of the best games and not just in the app category but games in general
Needs a few tweaks here and there - but they're all minor. The game itself plays smoothly and is easy to get to grips with. The gameplay will get you hooked after a short time, only making you put it down when you need to charge your devices battery (or the Mrs asks you to do something). If you like turn-based strategy games, this is a good one to get :-D

The game is good fun. Well rounded and I've not hit a single bug or closure yet. It's pretty tough getting gold cups on each mission, and this pressures you into rushing through each lvl. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing.
Excellent price for the game, really glad it wasn't free-to-play, and even their advertising of other games is just a small button here, nothing intrusive. The little intro dialogue has a fun, ironic tone, the game difficulty has a nice ramp teaching you the units, so far the map variety seems be pretty varied and nice. Haven't tried the other modes since I jabent unlocked them yet, but I expect them to be just as well.
This game has a fun style of graphics, and the gameplay so far has been varied enough and involved a good measure of strategy. I'll leave it to others to admonish the publisher for taking away the grenadier unit to make us rate the game. My only real complaint is that some of the interactions are a little touchy on my phone (Galaxy S5).
I am enjoying the game, and I expect that they will get more of my money for subsequent iterations. 4stars because the rating for grenadier thing is shady, and also because it takes some thought to figure out how to play... Recommend adding a more detailed tutorial for newbs.
Good graphics, runs well, great concept. REALLY needs a tutorial, but controls/unit abilities can be figured out eventually. I didn't like it at first, but once I played for a while, it got better and better.Well done!
Excellent turn based strategy war game. I spent several hours completing the basic campaign, and I am looking forward to playing the game again in advanced mode. For those of you with long memories, the tone of the game reminded me a little of Canon Fodder - particularly the idiot General. Now can I have my grenadier please.
Takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do its a great turn-tile game for iOS. Some missions take a while too beat, mainly because I'm so conservative with my troops and care more about amount of troops lost then days passed. But great game!
It's a solid game but the sequel is more balanced. For instance, there is no splash damage from artillery units and the snipers are very expensive compared to grunts. You are usually better off just rushing with a bunch of cheap units.
...there's no tutorial explaining what all the little icons mean and the percentages seem to represent two different things. Contrary to what the devs have actually said in their forums, a tutorial or some kind of icon guide would be handy.
Air, sea, land and mechanized units. Some complexity, with experience and terrain bonuses, but still easy to pick up. Games can last a while, or pretty quick depending on what you need. Would be even better if the AI were stronger. I haven't tried multiplayer.
As the name implies this is a great little war game. The turn based warfare is fast and full of action. The dialog is pretty funny. the only thing this game lacks is multi player. Please add multiplayer and It would be five stars every time.
The game is full of enough content to keep you going, and the controls are intuitive. Combined they make for a game I can't put down. Update: Unfortunately the developer has decided to extort users for reviews, rating dropped.
To view a unit's fire range you have to tap and hold over the unit. If you move your finger just a micro meter the range indicators turn off. This is Very annoying while playing in a moving vehicle. A minor mark off an otherwise great game.
I played the sequel first, which is better, but I knew I would enjoy this tremendously as well. I've been wanting anything Advanced Wars-ish or Final Fantasy Tactics-ish on Android forever. Keep making them! Maybe with different themes or time frames...
An addictive game. Urges a lot of cute extras, like the comments the troops make as they're deployed and the theatrical deaths. Packs a surprising amount of variety. WARNING - very difficult to put down.
I found this to be a great strategy game, and particularly enjoyed the missions with the added challenge of finishing in an optimal number of moves. Unlike certain other reviewers, I found the lack of tutorial part of the fun (learning how best to take advantage of each unit). The skirmish mode mode was less fun once I developed a strategy that took advantage of the AI's lack of flexibility-- but I did play every map. With some tweaks to the AI this would be 5 stars, but still worth the .99!
Great little war game is a great little game. Loving a decent turn based game, and the graphics remind me a bit of cannon fodder. For £2 you can't go wrong. Will definitely buy big war game once I'm through all the levels on this one.

This game has kept me up at night and made me late for work. That's a sign of a job well done! Love it on my Nexus 5 - plays great. Recently started using on Nexus 7!
As tony the tjger would say ITS GREAT. Just compleated level 20 to win. This game took over a month to finish. I am at the age of 53, not a kid or a all day gamer. Just do it!
