Mastermind for Android
Playing a computer takes some of the fun out of the game; there's no begging for clues or peeking at the solution when your opponent goes to the loo! I don't like being forced to use different strategies than I used as a kid. As a child, even if there were no doubles or empty slots in the puzzle we'd agreed upon, we allowed ourselves to use doubles or empty spaces while guessing. But I enjoy the challenge of learning new strategies!
I like the game. Intuitive controls and good graphics. I would have thought it would give a random new puzzle but it does not. It instead has preloaded puzzles and it remembers your attempts. The game also gives trophies for each completed puzzle. There are 480 puzzles on each level (easy, medium, hard) so once I finish them all, I wonder what happens...? Because I can not replay a puzzle. Trying to replay a puzzle just shows your previous solution. Once you finish a puzzle, you view an ad.
I would have given it a 5, but it doesn't allow you to try solutions with more than two pegs of each color at the hardest level. My favorite level is medium, since it allows for that and also has a variety of 5 and 6 pegs.
I've always loved the board game, so this is a bit of nostalgia. It works well and has multiple puzzles in the tiers of difficulty. Easy to pick up and put down, but also a good way to lose track of time.
Needs review feature. Immediately after finishing a puzzle it kicks you out to the trophy page and an ad. If you attempt to go back and review the puzzle it starts all over again. Also, it's nice that tapping sends the dots to their position but there's no way to tell it which position to go to. It always fill the left most open spot. So if your puzzle includes a blank space you'll always have to drag the dots to their position.
It's a good guessing game that makes you think a bit. A little logical, a little not. I just wished there was more room to see all of your guesses or a way to group them (e.g. best to worst). Instead of showing a black hint for guessing a blank pin correctly, it shows nothing :(
I love mastermind, and this app delivers perfectly. It has a very night interface and user experience. The game is challenging and I love the three levels it offers in difficulty. I wish there were more mini levels in each difficulty, it is just so good!
Just started playing and I'm already looking forward to the harder levels. So much better than lining 3 matching pet candies. This actually requires a thought process.
Love this game. Reminds me of when my nan used to play it with my brother and i when we would visit her and pop when we were a kid. Just a bit harder not having the black and white ones in the actual position the coloured ones are in. Still love it though
Good enough. It's not exactly Mastermind, but it exercises the same group of mental muscles. The variations are both off putting and challenging, depending how you look at it, I suppose. It's good to give your logic circuits a workout once in a while, and this app fits that bill. It should show empty spots as correctly or incorrectly placed instead of omitting them from the result.
This game has three levels of difficulty. Easy mode is relatively easy. Normal mode is mastermind the board game, and hard mode puts some twists on it that will exercise your creativity and your problem solving skills.
Love this game, it's graphics are good, I love the interface of it all. I like the fact that if I get stuck I can go back to it at another time, so you don't have to complete one level before the other. It REALLY makes you think and although I get annoyed when it takes me ages, I'm addicted to it.
Nice game to keep you occupied. Better if we can compare or performance worn others who have done the same puzzle. Rank your performance
I like this game. Haven't tried "hard" yet, but like it so far! I wish you could go back and review past games to see how it works.
A classic Mastermind game that will give the brain a good workout. Like the original boardgame, it is addictive too with many levels of difficulty to keep one occupied. Loved it!
I like the game, but the white and black dots confuse me. I played it before but it wasn't this app. Sometimes it gets things wrong tho. Would recommend
I like that there are options for more pegs, but there are two problems. First, why are there preset games that vary from 4 to 6 pegs. Why not just set number and then random generator? Also, can't see all previous guesses after 5th guess. Otherwise though very fun game.
I like this game but I haven't got hooked on it like I'd have expected to. Maybe it needs some targets like complete in 4 minutes or 7 rows. Maybe a gold silver or bronze for each...
...except the level numbers go supersize once I've completed a level, making navigation near-impossible. Every single time. Any idea why?
Work just like the board game of long ago. Only drawback is the screen only displays 5 tries, then it begins to scroll. Great game.
The game is a solid puzzle and critic thinking. There is the initial learning curve, but once you get the mechanics it becomes fun and challenging. As you go through the easy scenarios you eventually want to increase the difficulty. Anyone into thinking based games should give this one a shot.
The board is way too big! I HATE the scrolling!! My brain should be able to peripherally see all previous moves, so it can calculate the odds automatically. The scrolling prevents my brain from seeing the whole picture simultaneously. I need to be able to see a whole snapshot of it like a chessboard. Make the board smaller, a fixed # of tries, and STOP the scrolling! In real mastermind you have 'x' numbr of moves and that's it. You dont get infinite moves. Goodness! No need for scrolling you make the board like the authentic board. The scrolling is annoying.
Used to play this as a kid, takes some effort to wrap my brains around it.
Brings back my youth. Just wish I could see more of my previous goes without having to scroll. Obviously answer is to crack the code earlier!
It's a pretty good game to spend your time while waiting the train or whatever. Thumbs-up!!
I tried several different app versions of this game, and I like this best. Visually, it's much like looking at a real board game; the background doesn't have too much glare; the "pegs" and colors are pleasing to the eye; nothing is confusing or distracting; I like the different levels and options. I played a lot of MM when I was a kid and I think this game really helps you develop and use logic.
A classic game that is user friendly and has good graphics. Would be nice if you can reset each individual game to replay, as sometimes you are interrupted and when you get back to game train of thought is lost.
Good graphics, good animations. I like that you can easily swap pegs without having to go back and forwards from the 'bank'. Nothing intrusive so far. Playing my way through easy so I'll update later. Clear options to enable/disable choosing multiple of one colour and also allowing blank spaces.
Love this game. It's challenging enough to keep you interested, but Not too challenging. I really enjoy it! I feel like my IQ has went up since playing this
Reliving the younger days of playing this on a small board but now on handphone. Easy is not as easy as assumed to be. Really need analysis... Very good game for children to work their brains harder and train them to persist!
Forgot how much I loved this game, nice change that the easy levels aren't mind numbingly simple, though slightly worried about my abilities in the later levels!
The old mastermind peg game that can be fun and frustrating at the same time. A great way to fill a rare moment of free time
At every level it limits how many repeated colors there can be in the answer ( either none or a color can be used 2x max). You can't send a "guess"/code that has more repeats than is possible in the final answer (for all settings/levels). Also, when playing with a blank as a possible part of the answer you might expect a white or black pin if you correctly guessed a blank, but you'll get no pin - falsely indicating you are wrong. These choices break some of the elegance of this classic game.
Graphic with natural look will be better! This game the pins can swap without remove all! (Compared to other similar apps, cannot!) Very detail information. Very challenging power up my brain, I love it!
I enjoy the challenge of this game. It runs smoothly, has many levels, and goes nicely from easy to difficult. It is a simple pattern puzzle of a single row of colored balls, where you have to figure out the pattern. Each puzzle makes for a quick and easy diversion. My only complaint is I wish they made a level even harder than the "hard" level. Maybe something with 2 rows, or harder in some other way. Once you have mastered how to solve these puzzles, it is fairly easy to finish them all.
I find easy very challenging. But if you like stuff like this, then yeah, it's great.
A process of elimination and memory. It's fun. The challenging part is beating your own records. Good job!
Good remake of a classic. Best that I have found without annoying ads. Easy to see different colours.
Great. Blast from the past. Nostalgia wants the original colours though. Not only fun, but great to keep your mind sharp.

It is difficult to see what combos you tried before as the game play boxes are too large to see most of the board. Mathematically speaking, "easy" and "medium" are backward. You can figure out the colours in "medium" by process of elimination (as the original game allowed), but there are exponentially more combinations in "easy" where you can only put in one colour at a time. "Hard" isn't hard: it is ridiculous. There are literally billions of possible combinations and no opportunity to use process of elimination. Figuring out the answer is rather like winning the lottery.
