Wind-up Knight for Android
This game excels in all areas of execution - graphics, music, and most important of all, the gameplay. It is easy to learn, but the journey to mastering it will make you growl. Nonetheless, you will always come back for more. Do not pay attention to the reviews stating that you have to pay to advance. Each book consists of 12 levels + 1 bonus level. You can play the first book for free - the others cost either $1.99 or 1200 currency. You can earn up to 1300 currency in each book, so you absolutely can play every level in the game without ever paying a dime. However, I recommend you do so as this game is truly a gem and should be supported.
This games tests your reflexes and memory more than anything else. Clever use of mechanics and cheeky quotes. I had a lot of fun figuring out the secret card locations per level. TIP: It is completely free if you get S rating for each level. Do not spend your gold on upgrades and you will be fine. You get free upgrades for finishing levels with the perfect rating. Gameplay: 5 Graphics: 5 Music: 3 Replayability: 4 Free to play: 4
I've collected everything and still don't have enough to get to the next level or book. Not worth my time. Good for you if you've achieved a perfect in the first book but I'm on a mobile device not a console. Need games that let me advance quickly. If you want a similar experience with as much challenge and quality without the freemium nickel and diming, get Manuganu.
This is a great little game. Figuring out the moves and everything was interesting. The only thing that I would recommend is being able to move the buttons but maybe that's intended. -- Edit: I'm taking two stars away from my review as with Kit Kat 4.4 this app will not work at all in a restricted profile. It works just fine in a normal profile though. Too bad, my kid really liked this app.
Good game to have some challenging fun with. You will however have to pay to continue playing if you are not observant and spend your notes before unlocking the 2nd book... being a free gamer I usually check that sort of thing out before just spending what is often times limited.
This game is awsome. Having to pay for each level is NOT! Some of us platform players are not "mega awsome"" as you put it. However, we love to play beautifully done 3d games like this one. If I had the opportunity to pay a flat rate to open the full game, I would give you 5 plus stars!!!
If you have to pay to unlock levels... Just clear your data and redo book one without buying anything. Going through the levels without the upgrades only makes it more fun, imo. Well done, robot invader. Now if you could only implement a similar mechanic in wind-up knight 2...but I understand if you don't.
I saw someone recommend this game on Reddit, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Once I started playing, I became hooked! It's such a simple game but it's extremely entertaining and addicting. I've just beat the first book and I'm working on getting enough coins to play the second! Great job devs! Y'all are awesome for making such an amazing game and having it ad-free! Edit: I noticed that some sound doesn't play when playing some courses, such as the death sound of some creatures and the falling rock.
I love this game! I've played through it three times already and I'm playing it again for a 4th time now. The first time I played it, yes it was challenging but I beat it with S in every level and didn't spend a dime in it. for anyone who is having a hard time with any level, my advice is that you should time your jumps very carefully.
This game is so much more than I had expected. It's simple to play but still can be quite challenging sometimes. No need to shell out cash since you can just buy the next set of levels by perfecting the previous levels; unless you want to buy "quality-of-life" items. It does lag sometimes which might cause your death sometimes but understandable seeing how good the graphics are.
Never gets boring, has a perfect learning curve and it's tons of fun. You can play all levels for free and get awesome items without paying a penny. Whoever says otherwise is wrong (finished the game with all unlockable items and have 1800 notes to spare).
This is one of the most polished non puzzle games I've played in recent years. The graphics are great and ether game had that "just one more try" appeal due to the short yet challenging levels. A lot of polish seems to have gone into this. I'll be looking out for more games by this development team.
I'm thrilled. I gotta say. When I reached the third book, I realized the greatness of the game. The writing of this review took over my body and it won't leave until I'm done! If you're a console gamer who dislike how bad games are valued on mobile, I suggest reading this to the end. At first glance, I thought the strong point of the game was it's great gameplay and it's incredible fun. Then, I realized there was much more to it... a mysterious story that, the more you play, the more it hooks you. After starting Book III, my imagination started going wild about the story, and it kept going that way until the end of the game! I HAD to finish it before writing this review! I'm a gamer of the NES generation. To those who appreciate a challenge, and a fun platforming game, I highly recommend this. I dare to say it is the most intensive experience in platform gaming I had. To end the review, I would like to add that the way the story unfolded is extremely innovating in all fields of arts I know, and I recommend people starting playing on Android through this game.
I loved this game to bits on my S2. Few months later when I got my S3 I decided to get it again. And its still as awesome. But the audio is slightly distorted at times for no apparent reason. Would appreciate it if you guys could get back to me on this. Thanks for the awesome game. =)
Simple gameplay mechanics that a young child can learn. Even when a level repeatedly gets the better of my daughter, the game is interested her enough to keep her at it. The game doesn't delve into the micro-transaction begging that plagues so many android applications. Definitely worth the download.
Many ppl here give low rating, becouse you have to pay to unluck. It is not true, you can earn all coins to play it all for free as I did. (I like chellanges) Seriously, noone missing the princess after completing all levels? Is she death?
As far as side scrolling games go, Wind-Up Knight takes it to a whole new level. A realistic enviroment and 3D graphics only enhance the complex levels. I'd recommend this game to everyone. Its challenging, frustrating, and fun all at the same time. Loove it <3 P.S. I never rate games, period. But when the ad, please rate popped up I was glad to. I just couldn't help myself =]
It's absolutely beautiful. I love the graphics. Sometimes I play it just to see how pretty it is. You do NOT have to pay real money to unlock all of the books. Just need to complete all of the levels from the previous book so that you can collect enough notes. Gameplay is fun. Difficulty increases well. I love it.
I like the game over all, but I hate the fact that you have to pay to unlock book two. The amount of notes you need to pay is not acceptable. Either remove the paying feature, or reduce the amount of notes you need to add up for me to rate a five star. Nice app over all!
After some problems trying to download, I got it up and running. And WOW! I usually get bored pretty quick with this format of a game, but this was different. The graphics are great for what it is and the learning curve mixed with the difficulty is perfect for me. Tough, but rewarding when finishing levels. The added options to roll and block add elements that separate this game from the basic boring run and jump side scroller. So much as to keep you on your toes and make gameplay extremely creatively enjoyable!
Those who say you have to pay... you don't have to.. if you are good enough you will get it... btw no developer is putting in huge resources to give you a game for free..get a life and stop complaining :-
This is a great game. But the difficulty spikes are horrendous in terms of gameplay. But, even though this is a Dark Souls mobile succesor, it still a great game, minus the time limit that makes you loose if you fail to collect more wind-up keys
For free it's a pretty fun jump, roll, attack, and defend kind of game. Nice to play while watching TV if you want to do something with your hands. Runs lag-free on the Nexus 7. Try it out!
I LOVE this game. You do not need to pay for anything IF you get a perfect score on each level. Its somewhat difficult but nowhere near impossible. Its my favorite play store game by far. I recommend it completely.
Fun. Quite challenging. Good game the only thing I dislike is that if you die you have to start over. I think they should have at least a half way check point or check points near challenging spots I hate having to start from the beggining over and over. Other than that the game is really cool.
Very nice game. . Only problem is my mobile heats up while playing it. by the way if you collect all cards and coins in a book you will not. have to pay real money to open new book.
Give it time and you'll see it's more of a memory game than a quick reflexes one. It's free, and it's awesome. Definitely worth a look and, if possible, supporting the developers for the amazing job done on this game.
They have to make money 2 everything in life isnt free. Really enjoyed all 5 books worth the change after book 1. If only for the challenge I like playing game alot. At first seems silly then u become addicted as it gets harder. Fun game
I love the game play and everything but the achievements somehow broke on me. Any of them that should have been given are not and no other achievement can be granted.
It's a great game but the fact that all worlds have to be unlocked by collecting everything coin and card makes it a bit tedious to play. It is quite challenging however.
How ever, I don't like that u have to start from the beginning whenever you die. Can we atleast get 3 lives and chances for 1ups? Other than that, this game is a freaking BEAST!!!! Love it!
You need 1200 coins to open each book. Sounds fair right? Wrong! Its nearly impossible to get that many coins in one book just by playing. I tried going back through the past levels to build up coins, but you only gain the difference in coins by repeating the level. IE. Say you scored 63 the first time and 70 the second time. That means you only gain 7. If you bought stuff in the armory, forget it. You're not gonna make it to book 2 without paying.
The game is incredible. Simple yet challenging, entertaining, and with great. A must have
Game lags on my phone, yet I valiantly played through the first book, and I upgraded my character, only to later find notes are finite, and I needed to get perfect scores on every level AND spend nothing to have enough to unlock the next book. In the loading screen it encourages you to spend notes, so you don't go through and get to book two, so that you have to buy it with $, good game apparently... Could've had at least a heads up you know? I will send as many people as I can muster to rate down your app!
I can't unlock book 2 :*( can't get notes but still good.
Good graphics, nice music, attack sound effect hmmm but still 5 for you tnx for ur generosity :)
What free to play is meant to be! You can beat the whole game without paying if you're good! Graphics are great, controls are spot on, and for the completionists out there I can promise there is plenty to look for! I wish they would add more levels because it's a great game!
This is a game that is fair and just the right amount of challenging. Enough that you'll twinge if you hit a spike but not enough that you'll want to throw your device (which is good because phones and tablets are more expensive than controllers!). I downloaded a couple suggested free apps to bump up my "notes", the in-game currency. That way, I could buy an item or two that helped out. If you're skilled enough though, you can get through without downloading anything. Have suggestions but ran out of room.
Shame you can't adjust the controls like other games. Having the jump and sword buttons so close is poor. Too many levels ruined by inadvertently pressing the wrong button. After level 3 I couldn't really be bothered.

Sir Sprint has been on my phone since it's premier. However, I've recently had to reset my phone do to ICS upgrade and it blows that I lost all progress (just finished book IV)and extras I've already paid for. Devs, please try to resolve these. Plus side is better controls made a great game even better! Runs great on my SGS2. My fav app. +1 Devs. On Samsung note 5 and still one of my favorites.
