You are guaranteed a loss because dice rolls ALWAYS fall in favor of the opponent. Always. Would have been fun if it actually had any type of randomness to the roll instead of being all good rolls for them and all bad rolls for you.

Like any dice game in an electronic format, the dice results are what make the AI more difficult, not actual decision making. I get more turnovers and incomplete/broken up rolls than the computer every game. It makes the game almost unplayable.

Lots to cover here. This is for the base game only (just the base dice). I'm told this is a faithful port of the actual board game, which I don't own. I play vs the AI during my commutes. The graphics look good, but I don't have a phablet so the writing on the cards are too small. Went online to learn what they said. Games usually have an average of 30-33 total points scored, whereas the NFL is more like 40-43 points. Then again, there's only about 75 total plays where the NFL is more like 100-120, so the scoring per play is higher. The game is very rock-papers-scissors but so is football, when you think about it. It's just a simplified version here. The only real complaint is that when it's 3rd and long, there should be some mechanic that makes it at least more difficult for a player to pick up lots of yards by calling a run when the D picks a pass defense. Other than that, I have no problem with how the plays determine which dice are used. Many have complained of the dreaded "X" on the play die. I ran a full season and started keeping track of X rolls for myself and my opponents about 6 games into the season. I ended up with about a dozen more Xs than the opposition, so about one more per game. Not earth shattering but statistically significant (that being said, a dozen games is a small sample size). Breakaways were more even. So it doesn't seem to me that the computer cheats to make up for the fact that it doesn't call time outs to maximize its chances as time is running out. I finished the season 12-5 and lost in the semis. If you told me 20 years ago that I could have a computer game like this for only $5 I'd say you're nuts. I know there are many $1 games out there but I can't bring myself to complain about 4 bucks. I will likely purchase the expansions, and perhaps this is where I might take a stand. I don't know how I feel about the game engine costing $5, but if I want unique teams I have to pay more than double that. For that price, I should be able to fully customize all dice. This is an app, after all. It's not like the manufacturer has to make brand new dice for me. All in all, not a bad game. It keeps me busy on my train rides into the city. I'll leave another review if/when I get the expansions.

I purchased this in the UK & downloaded it to my tablet. However when I try to download the to my phone it wants me to pay again! I have instead requested a refund & deleted the app

This is a faithful port of the board game which I also own. It helps if you have an interest in american football to really enjoy this game but it's an excellent game in it's own right. I would love to see an update where you can actually see the various numbers on the yardage dice for each team instead of just the bar graph showing how good each team is in a certain area as this would help the overall strategy for the player in choosing the best plays in a given circumstance. Overall, Great game guys.

The computer will balance good play by the player with lucky dice rolling by the computer. I get more turnovers and incomplete/broken up rolls than the computer every game. It makes the game almost unplayable.

Might not be the case but feels like the computer cheats and gets luckier when it is losing. Got the app to decide if I should buy the real game. Congratulations on convincing me not to

The game is fun to play. However I made it to the playoffs and got booted after my first round win. Brackets in the season are not fixed.

I bought this app to be able to play the game alone or when I don't have the board game available. I have really enjoyed it!

My issue has to do with the dice. The dice rolling is a great add to the app. It is unnecessary but adds some excitement as you see them rolling. I say it is unnecessary because the app knows the results before they are rolled. Every play you should role only one white dice. Then depending on what it lands on you role more. The app roles them together, then if one of them lands on an x the play is broken up. Or if 3 are rolled then it is a turn over when you see 2 t's. The chances are increased for those 2.

Started a season, 0-5. Every time i get with in 30 yds of the end zone the turn it over. Its not fair. Fix and its a 5★ game.

Crappy Design. Overly Lucky AI. They almost always seem to pick the 'correct' defense when it doesn't make sense to do so. Brackets don't work, after first round it starts over.

Game it's only fun vs friends the cpu cheats don't recommend at all

While I do agree with some that the AI needs some fine tuning, it needs to be said that R&R games should be commended for bringing this to mobile. You don't have to be totally familiar with the rules because the CPU handles all the dice rolls, and being able to customize your own team is a big plus in my book. It's a little more expensive as apps go, but snapping up everything for the actual board game will easily cost you nine times more at the minimum. Recommended.

This is a great re-making of the board game and expansions. Be warned in total the app will have 6 expansions for .99 each, but they are worth expanding your game if you find the normal dice too boring. This app does not have a tutorial to get you started, but it has persistent reminders on the UI and a rule book style guide to allow you to understand what is going on. However when playing with the AI it always seems to predict my moves and counter them, it would be nice to see some different AI difficulties. Though this really does well for the Pass and Play, and the automatic shuffling and dice rolls are very smooth, though the buttons on the UI could be larger or more colorful. Overall great for lovers of the game, and more so if you have a buddy to play with. Till they update with different AI then you may want to pass on this. Revised: After some time of playing with this app and the expansions, I have found that the odds are better when you add in the expansions, despite the randomness of the AI. It works well to simulate the board game in that way, and you should look at each team to decide on your strategy vs the computer. Still very good for two players.

I have no real complaints about how the game is implemented but the AI takes away from the fun of the game with some nonsensical decisions. For example, taking a 5 yard penalty against the offence instead of a 5 yard loss.

K70%

IF the game price of $5 INCLUDED all six expansion divisions, it would be a 4- or a 5-star game. But as it stands now, the full experience is around $11 and that makes this title waaayyy overpriced for what it is. I don't foresee this as a big seller, number one, and number two, if it is not profitable I don't see the company going to great lengths to make improvements. Hey devs....if you want 50,000 downloads instead of 50, give customers the full game for $5, and your sales may take off.

The idea of the game is fun but the AI is terrible. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the plays they run. Also the AI always seems to know what plays you run. I cannot recommend this game until the AI is improved

Quite a good app and it has the feel of playing the board game. Making a custom team is really easy. Several game modes are offered: face to face, knockout (up to 8 teams), and league (similar to NFL). Could really do with an online option to play against other players worldwide. Add on leagues are easy to buy, and quite cheap, but you really only need one or two to give you enough variety.

Would like to see more plays available and perhaps a little more animation simulating the action taking place.

This boardgame is fun and easy to play, even without a tutorial. It only has a rulebook and some ingame help, but i learnt to play very fast. It would be great to have online multiplayer this game fits perfectly as an online asynchronous game. This boardgame was at the beginning a project on kickstarter, in kickstarter they offered online multiplayer and a lot of more features, may be if we give our support to this game in the future may be updated with more features. It is a good game as it is now and it could become better, is not an expensive one,so i recommend everyone to purchase this boardgame.
