Selling half a game is fraud. Classic yes but jousting, and swordplay does not work whatsoever. Also seiging is pointless, they removed Greek fire. Cannot put soldiers in any conquered castles and oh ya. Sometimes your army disappears.

C70%
by C####:

I remember playing this as a kid I would have thought the jousting and raiding control would have been made easier so you could actually win jousting at least

C70%
by C####:

Unbelievable, the game I was hooked on, on my trusted C64 and I get to play it 30 years later on my brand-new phone. Even the graphics have not changed much. Kudos to the developers, you guys made my year!

F70%
by F####:

Wonderful classic game, ruined by shoddy emulation. Raiding or jousting is impossible as it just doesn't register button inputs. Hold out for an updated version.

C70%
by C####:

Dont waste your money on this awful import. they probably spent a day in development and thought that will do. And you wont get a refund. Bad bad bad. keep your memories untarnished.

C70%
by C####:

It keeps deleting my army making it impossible to ever win. No attack, they just return home at 0

C70%
by C####:

Game still is winnable as long as you actually be pro-active to taking over from the get go. Exactly as i remember from the amiga days, the jousting is terrible though so best to avoid as you don't need to joust to get a foothold in the game. Great playing this again. Classic ☆☆☆☆

Q70%
by Q####:

Unwinnable game, successful raids don't result in any increase of gold, never earn enough gold to build an army the size of the enemy, and jousting is impossible. Lose your army randomly and robins help is worse than useless. Doesn't seem like the compete game of old, not sure why. But still good fun.

by Z####:

I was excited to see this classic available. I purchased it and after playing a couple of games there is a bug that sees my army return after a successful battle to my home castle and I lose all my troops. Not impressed. I want my money back :(

C70%
by C####:

Such a disappointment. Loved the original, but this is just bad. You can't end your turn (pass), can't reinforce castles, and the controls for tournaments and raiding are hopeless.

B70%
by B####:

My roaming army frequently goes down to 1 for no reason - all my other units are back home. Other times I get a text saying all my men died and I am pushed back to my castle to find them all there. Breaks the game. Galaxy note 2

F70%
by F####:

Incredibly slow and not fun. 90% of the time you will be loading or struggling to move the pointer. Not adapted to mobile at all. Suggestion: fetch a PC version.

D70%
by D####:

Can't get refund. Stuck with poorly designed app. No support from company

I loved this game as a kid. I spent a lot of time playing this on my trusty old commadore 64. Although the load times were ridiculous back in the day, at least the game was stable. My army keeps becomming diminished randomly, sometimes when i am attacked the game freezes, and the swordfighting is near impossible to win. How hard could it have been to introduce a much better interface and test / fix a few bugs. They would have only needed to play the game once or twice to realise this product isnt ready.

DOTC is a classic favorite of mine from the IIgs days. This port has SERIOUS flaws though that deeply impact game play. First, it loses track of how many soldiers and knight's you have in your army, and it spontaneously sends you home, even with no battle or after you win. Next, you cant use fire or disease during sieges. I have not found a way to fortify outposts or xfer men out of the army. Please fix at least the glitches!

X70%
by X####:

During the territory conquest portion of the game, I don't have much of an opportunity to switch from fierce fighting/stand your ground, etc. before the fight abruptly ends. Other than that, this game has brought back some great memories of a fantastic game. This game is proof that better graphics doesn't mean a better gaming experience! I'm not sure why others are saying that the controls are bad. I disagree. They're just fine for this game and don't detract from the experience. Thank you so much for bringing this classic Amiga game to Android!!!

Loved the game as a kid, love it now! Still just as fun and just as challenging. A real classic. So far I've experienced none of the problems other users have encountered.

Don't buy this!

Everytime I get ahead I lose all my men and knights (but keep my catapults?) and get forced back to my home castle. Raids are pointless as it's a hope and prayer with button pressing. Don't even get me started on jousting. If there is any way to get my money back I'd sincerely appreciate it - this is terrible.

I originally Played Defender of the Crown on the Commodore Amiga 500. This is absolutely true to the original (well, it is the original, emulated). I think some of the reviews here are unrealistic or colored by nostalgia goggles. Minus one star only for the loading times and because the emulated trackpad for the mouse is slower than would be ideal, simple stuff. Overall it's good, very difficult strategy game. I wouldn't mind seeing a modern remake for Android like the Playstation 2 remake that was released a while back.

Experienced that the interface was more or less unusable and you couldn't see the full game screen.

Still one of the greatest games i have ever played! Thanks for the time machine back thirty years!

Please update, good game but jousting is impossible due to no sound of clashing metal, raiding hard too. Should make controls touchscreen also.

I spent much of my youth playing Cinemaware games and Defender in particular, both on C64 and Amiga 500. This is a great retro game that helped influence a generation of strategy games. I found the controls to be ok, given this is essentially the original Amiga version emulated on Android, it does not work in all respects, but the game is still at it's heart an excellent one. The Amiga sound and graphics have dated better than most.

As noted by others, campaign army shows up at home and all troops gone. They figured it out in the 80s why can't you fix?

Interface is terrible

T70%
by T####:

Spent hours on this game as a kid so to see it was a direct port over set my nostalgia gland throbbing. Unfortunately its interface makes it very frustrating to play and I uninstalled it very quickly. Not quickly enough to get a refund though. Fix the interface and it'll be great...I hope...

W70%
by W####:

So much potential but they should have reworked the interface. Loved the original but this one is just too hard to control. Jousting is impossible and your campaign army just disappears sending you back to your home castle for no reason. There is also no point in blocking during raids as it is just a button mash fest. They should have remade the Windows remake from years ago.

I absolutely love this, just like the original. Yeah, loading is a little slow and game play is not ultra slick with the trackpad but that's part of the charm which takes you back 25 or so years. I think some people forget they're not paying £40 and it's not a n Xbox game!

I was looking forward to the release of this game, like the original, it's great but the glitches get in the way. For starters the load time is the same as an amiga 500 using a disk drive and the opening intro is not skippable. You have to watch it every.. single.. time.. you start a new game or even restart the game. Not only that, god forbid the power button on your phone is pressed, accidently, and your phones screen turns off, not the power, cause then when you turn it on you lose all progress.

D70%
by D####:

As far as I can see no controller support so we are forced to use the touchscreen which works average at the most. Also this is not the remastered version of the game, meaning it has terrible sound and music. I expected more from one of the favourite games of my childhood.

Why not use touch controls?

D70%
by D####:

One element of the four main tasks in the game is playable. As bad port to android which is not worth the $$ until the controls are fixed. Jousting, Raiding and Catapult are useless. Moving your troops around the map works and that's it. 25% of a game that works and you charge money? Almost criminal!!

Not very good.

This game is one of my favourite classics. I was somewhat jealous when a friend was able to get it on his iPhone a few years ago. Having waited so long for the Android version, given the wait I'm disappointed. It's essentially the same as the iOS version released ages ago. The mouse interface is really clunky an unintuitive and the soft buttons are in your face. It really has the feel of a port of a port of a port ... Wish the game was rewritten for mobile.

Great to have one of my favorite Amiga games of back then 1:1 on my phone now. Controls could be slightly improved, though. I'd probably prefer a bigger touch area for controlling the mouse pointer.
