About Twilight Struggle

The #1 rated strategy board game comes to Android!

"Now the trumpet summons us again, not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need; not as a call to battle, though embattled we are – but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle..."
– President John F. Kennedy

HISTORY IN THE MAKING
Twilight Struggle puts the player at the center of the Cold War, the political and economic struggle between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R that spanned 5 decades from the 1950's to the 1990's. Designed by award winning creators Ananda Gupta and Jason Matthews, players control one of the two modern superpowers, as they work to spread their dominance throughout the world via political influence and coup attempts. But if either side triggers nuclear war, it's game over!

CARD BASED EVENTS
The event cards in the game are based on actual historical events from the Cold War era. Through the playing of these events, players exert their superpower's influence as they attempt to gain allies and regional control of the globe. From the early days of De-Stalinization, to the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War and beyond, players are immersed in the actual events of the struggle between these two nations to be the dominant superpower in the world!

IMMERSIVE STRATEGY
Hone your skill and strategy as a world leader against an A.I. opponent, and then take your game global with matches against other players via asynchronous online game play.

This is the only ap that wants me to re purchase the in ap content on each android device. I've already purchased the content. I should be able to use it on all my android devices. If this program didn't kill my battery I wouldn't need to switch devices mid game. Edit: contacted customer service. They were very helpful.

Overall, this app is the my favorite strategy game that's beautifully designed( I love the way the cards work, with you using your opponent's cards) that's held back by a few minor visual bugs, interface that is missing a few things that would make it easier people using touchscreens, a few gameplay mistake made in regard to card effects, and a computer A.I. that makes some major mistakes. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys strategy games.

I like the idea of it, but the AI is very slow on my Pixel XL and I don't quite understand the mechanics of the game yet. Overall it is a great game with some room for improvement.

Twilight Struggle is generally considered one of the best board games in circulation for hard core board game fans. I own a copy myself but being able to play this while travelling or in bed is totally worth paying for the app as well as the board game. I've already played 8 games, which is more than I've ever played with the board game version!

Fascinating game I have been playing this game for four days straight. It's a very absorbing game which makes you question the decision of every move. It has a steep learning curve, of which I am still learning, and I wish the animations could be slower so that I could see exactly what the A.I. is doing (in order to learn from its moves). If you like war strategy games, particularly those based on real life war scenarios, you should enjoy this.

All in all a great game, it runs a tad slow on on my Asus memo pad but its still very playable, if you like having a game that makes you think, then this is the game for you....

Would be a great game, unfortunately the card 'de-stalinisation' causes the ai to hang. Any chance of a fix?

Excellent representation. Hi has a couple of issues with tiny icons in the the corners.

WAY too much of a power hog to seriously consider playing on a portable device. Otherwise, great game.

The turn-by-turn tension and informed gamble of GMT's Twilight Struggle are here, unfettered by the UI. Undo and probability displays are very useful for casual play. The AI provides sufficient resistance to keep local games interesting. For more, there's online play.

Resolution on my HTC m9 is a little too small but you can zoom in on the map easily enough but seeing played events can be difficult to go back to. Interface is very intuitive and it's a great game, which I learned through the tutorial and a practice game.

Good game, though TS is so long I'm unlikely to play anything but AI matches. I have two minor issues with this game. 1) The occasional bug that caused the game to freeze on reload. This has only happened once. 2) A couple times, the AI has decided to "fire ze missiles" and battle ground coup in Africa at defcon 2 with the China card. You might want to add in a "will this end the game check" into the code.

N70%
by N####:

The AI held a score card at turn 8 and lost. Checked the board again and confirmed no score card would hand me the victory. Care to write a hard code to require the AI to play all score cards before end of turn? It is frustrating to see it fail such a simple rule.

How many times do I have to spend $3.99 for the in-store purchase before it actually sticks on phone. Dont buy the in-game content until they fix this issue. You guys owe me 7.98+ thr ingame purchase....TWICE! Fix the dang app!

Fantastic game and getting many hours out of it. But. The constant crashing. Its ruining the experience, hope it can be sorted, then it's 5*.

Excellent port of the Game. The tutorial text is both too small and badly color coded.Had to put brightness up a lot to properly read the text. Also the app drains a lot of battery. Please also consider increasing the max zoom as it could do with more on my 5.1 inch screen mobile.Otherwise Excellent!

Great port of a great game. Well done Playdek. Shame it took as long as it did but pleased it's here now.

I am new to the game so I played through the tutorial. My main gripe is the tutorial text is black on a dark gray background and very difficult to read unless I crank up my phone's brightness and blind myself. The tutorial also just coves the basic rules. Afterwords I was left with a few questions. The game also needs a left handed mode.

C70%
by C####:

Works very well. The only issue, as highlighted below, the dice does not work during the space race phase of the tutorial. This will put off new gamers. Behind that I am very happy to have a portable version to while away the hours.

Been interested in the board game for over a year and thought I would try this out. It took a bit to learn but it a lot of fun. I have had several games where the AI kill itself and everyone else by purposely dropping the defcon. The game ends and it says the AI wins but everyone is dead..... No one wins.... I can finish a game because the AI kills us

Great Game, Poor Droid Client . So, I already own this on PC, and and such I won't get into the merits of the game itself. The game on PC is masterful, true to the boardgame, and all around wonderful. The only advantage the android client has over that is the price. See, the android client is VERY clearly the desktop client just ported over. The interface is still clearly designed for a mouse, you have to use a login screen every time to access your games, there is an unskippable intro animation when you launch the client, and if there are push notifications, I sure as heck haven't figured out how to activate them. In other words, this is a mobile app that doesn't understand it's platform in any way, shape, or form. The only reason I'd recommend this is if you don't own the Desktop version yet, as the price difference makes all this a bit less bitter of a pill to swallow.

A completely faithful reproduction of the board game, and a very intuitive UI! However I can see that the in-game manual is confusing. The rule about loosing by DEFCON status is not at all clear (it's whoever played the Olympics card, not who chose to boycott; also be careful with the CIA Formed card if you are Russia). I hope they re-write some of the manual to more closely match the board game's manual.

This is the all-time highest rated board game come to mobile. Loved the board game, and this is a faithful port. Flawless so far. Can be tricky to learn, but it is one of the few strategy games that can be challenging. AI is impressive (unlike every other game). The frustration of losing a game is only surpassed by the sweet taste of victory from time to time. Tldr; buy it.

Played only one game, but I loved the experience so far. The game layout is so well done, cramming everything from the board onto the screen in a way that doesn't feel cluttered and makes sense. I'm impressed!

Done very well, very clear, good tutorial and good community with async multiplayer. However, the multiplayer requires you to manually relogin to the game server every time you reopen the app (even if it's just 'minimized' to RAM.) There's probably a reason for this, but it's kind of a hassle if turns are being played quickly.

This is by far the most anticipated board game app of all time and yet so few downloads. It's a great learning tool and can play much faster than the physical board game. The few SW issues are likely to be worked out soon. It is a bit hard to read the text on a phone and some buttons are not very responsive but overall still gives a really good experience. I wish we can review the game logs post game so we can learn the game better.

I didn't see one, but a QR popup button would be nice to remind me what each action does (like which ones allow the opponent to use an event, and that coup is a military action). 5-stars despite the issues with player ramp up. (Plays on my Acer Chromebook R13 too. Bonus!)

Cool game. Played a lot on the board game, it's nice to play with friend abroad. I would like to have the game to stay logged when going back and forth between apps.
