Epic Warrior: Sword of Light for Android
I don't get a choice, even if it asks to use Phoenix feathers. It asked, I chose "no" & it took my feather & half my gold? Why offer a choice if it takes them anyway & punishes you for saying no? It has no warning when your torch is running out, & it uses them consecutively & you have no idea how many you'll even need or using, cause you have no idea how big any dungeon is. There is a lot of fun to be had, but a lot of flaws too, the towns don't flow directionally very well to other points on the map.
Awesome Dragon Warrior clone, back when I was (this is just a guess) 7-10 I loved Dragon Warrior, the game turned me on to RPG's, so its no surprise that I'd love this game as well. To anyone that loves early Nintendo RPG's or any young kids that'd like to find out what it was like in the stone age of video games, give this RPG a spin, well worth your time!! Love this game guys, you did an amazing job!!
Anyone know where I can find the skeleton key ?
Heck yeah! Finally! I feel like its 1986 again im seven years old and walkin out of Tantegel castel for the first time! The young gamers wont like it but screw them who cares! This is what rpgs are supposed to be! Keep makin this stuff!
Noticed a lot of dragon quest noises slightly changed. Gameplay is ok. May be just my tab but the transitioning between town to outside is to slow for me to enjoy.
So far, so exactly the same as DW1.
I really extremely love this game but its really really really really hard to get just the slightest bit of money can you please update the game to have an inventory and the monsters to drop loot. OH WAIT YOU DON'T EVEN READ THE STUFF WE TELL YOU ANYWAYS
Everything is so tiny, and the movement is very slow and laggy. I want to like this because I love Dragon Quest, but it's unplayable for me like this.
much lag/loading between town and world map. saving only at inns? could use improvement

I love this game. Actually bought a gold pack after beating it the hard way. Never done that b4!

Awesome tribute to one of THE original old school RPGs. A must play. Well done! This is what RPGs were like before they held your hand thru the whole game :) Dont give 1 star cuz you suck at it! Keep it real! No problems at all on my RAZR M.
This game panders to a specific audience...hence the wildly varying reviews. It's exactly what I expected, plus some obligatory bugs. 4/5 based on hitting the target but providing poor/nonexistent docs.
.. But I thought Ibwould purchase from the epic shop to help donate towards the company and it doesnt work. Tells me theres no internet connection even if Im on wifi, or on data.
And for the ones that are complaining about how its stupid how you save in a inn. Well it says classic rpg that means you dont have a save butten. You go to an in or to the designated save person to save and therefore if you dont have the time then dont download it!!!!!!
Just a great nostalgia trip with the same gameplay elements as Dragon Warrior for the NES, but you can carry a large amount of items and there is less grinding. Sometimes it can freeze, don't input commands too fast.
Uninstalled. Gave it a second chance. Now at level 42 with 136,006 EXP. Will I eventually be able to finish the boss in one hit? Time will tell... Another point, there is a save glitch. If you talk to any shop keeper in any town (or a few other instances, spoilers withheld), you will save for free.
This game is pretty much a ripoff of Dragon Quest for NES. The battle setup is identical. Even the text looks like it was ripped straight from DQ. That being said. You start with 10 gold and no weapon and are told to head west to a castle. Got destroyed by a bee on the way because i couldnt attack it. Awesome game. Not.
This game is a lot of fun. yes it is just like dragon warrior/quest. And that is a problem? I loved d.w and this game reminds me of it. Saving at an inn is not the worst thing in the world. Actually it is pretty simple. Before i even left the first town i had a weapon and armor. There is this magic button called SEARCH. Use it around the first town and you will walk away a very wealthy and armed individual. On that note there are some bad things about the game, but it just makes the game harder. There is no map. If you cross a certain line you will die from very strong monsters. Also not completely sure where to go.
Hands down the best Android game I've played. Only thing I'd change is the length, it needs to be longer, hopefully there will be an expansion coming soon.
Read title.

If I could rate this game zero stars I would. What a waste of time. They reset me to lv 1 with no items when I spent $5 on 20k gold. I figured well, what a nice Dragon Warrior rip off, they deserve $5 for entertaining me. My reward for donating...getting reset to lv 1. I want a refund! Don't play this game! Game is also full of bugs such as going negative in gold, when buying items it sometimes keeps buying the same item and you are forced to shutdown the app in your phone options and restart.
The beginning equipment is far too expensive to do anything major right away. I'm all for a good grinding session but come on....
Great game still a few bugs, the settings don't save, and when you sell herbs and Mage herbs you lose em all for the price of one, but nothing that makes it a deal breaker
What the hell the only way that I can save is at an inn? Who has that kinda time any more... how bout a save button at least in world map then many I'll think about downloading again and giving a better rating
After achieving level 36, I finally had enough courage to face Lord Erebus. Bind spell did not work on him, which I kind of figured as much. Not to say it would never work, only tried a couple times. Best part was one hitting his Dragon form, with 185 damage to his hit points. EPIC... P.S. Where is Dubrik's necklace? And how do i get to the island caves south of istaria?
- No indication for saving. Inn needs text for it, or add a save option. - Dying and returning to the castle is annoying, especially when you're far in. - The sleep spell taking effect for the entire fight is kinda OP. It's just a "hey look, a punching bag" moment for both player and monster. Needs a limit. - Every spell needs a tooltip. No idea what something like Light Cast does. Good start, but attention to the little details can make the game all the more appealing. Needs QA work.
only being able to save at an inn was mostly all we had in the 80's and 90's...and we were GLAD to get a save point! I only gave four stars because I'd like to see more content, but I cannot complain because the fame is free, and it's nostalgic as F**K!
I enjoyed the challenge of this game. It can be very unforgiving especially in regards to the sleep spell. I finished the game and my only complaint is that I want more. The world is a bit empty and the game would benefit from more narrative. Also a sailing ship or horse for faster world travel would be nice.
Loading this game on a Note 4 is ridiculous. High resolution screens don't scale well, so everything is incredibly tiny and simply walking causes screen drawing lag. I'd rather pay $5 for an app that works well instead of $0 for an app that is so close to being what I wanted.
... that is executed poorly. Plagued by graphical lag and cheap game mechanics. Uses phoenix downs even when you choose not to. And the other guy's complaint about buying phoenix downs and losing both his progress and the downs doesn't sound promising, either.
Had fun until i reached lvl 23 the game froze then my phone cutoff and now it won't let me continue from the game menu!!! Glad i didn't spend money on gold or downs!!! Ignore the email i sent you. I won't be playing this shitstorm game anymore.
I love 8tit and 16 bit retro games one of my favourite is shining force 1 and 2. This looks good for a mobile platform but the controls are crap and the loading times are dreadful. When you leave a village it takes upto 10 seconds to load the map taking into consideration the first place to go is only an invh away you spend a lot of time loading between places and the map. It gets boring after a while. Also the conttols are just dark squares on the touch screen without labeling

I enjoyed my first hour or so of playing it, then suddenly I would die, which wasn't that bad, but I would start all the way at the beginning, and have to make my way through the weak monsters, which it felt like every other step a Monster appeared, delaying me by telling me a monster was approaching, only then to say it was running away. Waste of time trying to level, and if you didn't follow the exact path, suddenly super strong monsters would appear and kill you in one or two hits, and you couldn't run.
This is indeed a very similar clone to Dragon Warrior. For the most part, that's a good thing. However: 1) As others have stated, while saving at the inn is true to the style this game is trying to achieve, it isn't practical for the platform it's on. People usually don't play for extended sessions on their phone, so having to trek back to an inn can be needlessly tedious. 2) Needs some more thought to enemy scaling. I hit a pretty hard wall around lvl 10. Enemies either run away, or put me to sleep and kill me without giving me the opportunity to attack. I expect a little grinding, but this failed to hit the sweet spot. 3) Bugs. The other two could be forgivable, but I've had the game freeze on my Moto G several times, which makes the lack of non-inn saving pretty painful. The game also used both Phoenix Downs I had even though I selected "no". I, too have had the never-ending shopkeeper sell me the same item repeatedly until I ran out of gold. Overall, it's a good game that will scratch the nostalgia itch, but the bugs keep it from being truly fun.
Don't buy downs or it will screw u back to lvl 1. And I bought gold. Very unhappy since I like this kind of game. If it gets fixed will change my rating

Great game concept. Walking around is very slow and the game has many serious bugs. I almost stopped playing after the 4th time the game froze. Dying puts you all the way back to the beginning. And the game is unnecessarily long and tedious. Other than that I did play it to completion and enjoyed many aspects of the game.
