About Music Flashcards

Music Flashcards is a tool that teaches you how to read notes in the treble and bass clefs.

The ultimate goal is to recognize 38 different notes in under 60 seconds. You can only achieve this goal once you truly know all the notes.

While practicing, you can measure your progress by your Reading Score. This score indicates what percentage of notes you identified correctly.

Press 'Start Test' to begin, and then, as soon as you recognize a note, touch the box with its name, on the right hand side.

Remember: you only have sixty seconds to read as many notes as possible. If you make a mistake, the note will be asked again later.

Use the 'See Notes' option to see all the different representations of a same note.

If you want to erase your High Score, go to the main menu page, and then use your Android menu button, and press Erase High Score.

You can also change the note names from C,D,E,F,G,A,B to Do,Re,Mi,Fa,Sol,La,Si, and turn the buzzer on/off, using the menu button in the corresponding page.

Once you can score 100%, you will be an expert at reading notes.

Good luck!

I like it but it could be better if it showed you which notes were incorrect after you play so you could go back and study those specifically. The other hard thing for me is I am left handed but you have to use your right hand to select your answer so I can't get through them as fast.

The note learning section is overwhelming, and I don't have any need to learn bass clef. Should be able to choose treble, bass or both.

Great app. It's straight forward and simple. Easy to use right at any moment you have free. I use it to help me reference each individual note for practice and memorization. Please don't ever change it. For beginners, use it as reference then just write each note on blank music paper over and over till you've memorized it. Then once you do that for all the test comes in really handy.

The Deliseo Studio of Voice and Beginning Piano thinks this app has great promise! ???? Some improvements might include: 1. Having the note selection columns on both sides of the staff or the ability to choose/move from one side or the other 2. Add the tone of the pitch named and player can turn volume off with device if silent play is preferred 3. Have a play option to drill one staff at a time for beginners. Overall, this is a great tool for self practice time. To see how my students are doing, I have them send a screenshot of their "High Score"! Thank you Newton's App!

Everything would be awesome if this app stopped timing it with 23 seconds left on the clock! Of course I'll never read 45 notes in 60 seconds if you never give me 60 seconds!

I personally think its great. But it can be hard to memorize, but thats what practice is for. It's a great to learn both bass and treble clef.

I'm trying to learn piano after 6 years of playing only treble clef, this has actually really helped me solidify my knowledge of bass clef. The points are really confusing thiugh, but I don't care about that.

It was pretty good. It would probably be overwhelming to a complete beginner. I dislike that you are quizzed on bass and treble at the same time. Would be better if you had the option to do one or the other or both. My major issues come with the scoring. I literally just took a quiz and got one wrong and it told me that I got five wrong. Also, the score (% out of 100) seems to only be based on how many you answer, not how many you actually get right.

This app is quite good but could be improved in several ways. 1. The flashing ad at the bottom of the screen is distracting, annoying and there is no paid version so cannot be removed. 2. A single clef only, or a smaller range of notes cannot be selected. 3. There is no sound. 4. If an incorrect note is chosen you are not told what the correct note is so you don't learn from your mistake. 5. The ap runs in portrait mode only. This is ok for those using it on a phone but not for those whose tablets are in stands or cases which keep the device in lanscape position. There is an auto rotate feature in all tablets yet so few developers actually use it. Not everyone uses apps on phones; a good many use tablets. 6. The highest score I achieved was by experimental "cheating". I rapidly pressed random keys, making over a hundred mistakes yet was given a score of 75%! This shows that the number of mistakes are ignored when calculating the score, yet if I played a piece of music and made a single reading mistake it is unlikely that it would go unnoticed and could be ignored. Consistent accuracy is as important as speed and needs to be reflected in the score.

Helped me a lot to recognize notes on both staves. I like the simplicity of it in general. Note buttons could be on the both sides of the screen for faster response, but it's not a deal breaker.

Program is great for learning to read notes quickly. It doesn't grade accurately though.

It is great but if you are a pianist it doesn't extend to the super high and low notes. Overall I like it

Very good but more ledger lines would do, maybe 3 more

Each flashcard gives ALL instances of each note both in treble and bass clef: it's just too much to memorize. In test mode it asks them one by one. It would be better to be able to choose which clef to learn, or at least which one you want to be tested at. Second, testing mode is just that: testing - you get to know when you are wrong, but without being shown the correct answer, you won't learn anything from it.

I have tried all the free music note apps. This one is by far the best. I use it all the time if i am somewhere like a waiting room, has definitely improved my sight reading. Is an excellent refresher if you havent been practicing any playing. Layout is easy to use and you see both Treble and Bass notes without switching. It also keeps your high score however the way it calculates the percentages is off since it doesn't account for your mistakes. Much funner then using flashcards.
