About Katakana Pro
Katakana Pro provides a fun way to learn katakana, one of two syllabaries in the Japanese language. While aimed at beginners, more experienced users can also use Katakana Pro to freshen up their skills.
The goal of the app is to help you become familiarized with the symbols. We accomplish this by introducing only a few symbols at a time, and repeating those randomly until you have identified them enough times. At that point, we will introduce another set of symbols. This process is repeated until you have mastered all the characters.
Many users have reported learning the 46 basic characters in as little as 20-30 minutes. That really is outstanding, and speaks to the teaching ability of the app. But please do not feel any pressure. Take your time and learn at your own pace.

Next Steps: When you feel confident in your ability to identify the katakana characters, the next step would be to learn how to write them. Though it may not appear to be important, there is actually a correct stroke order in which each character is written. Typically, it is from top-left to bottom-right, but may vary depending on the character. While we do not currently provide stroke order in this app, it is a feature we intend to add later, either directly in Katakana Pro, or in our new app Kana Dojo.

Quickest way to learn Katakana I have seen. Learned all of the characters by memory in a few days by just completing the main quiz mode once a day. It is well worth the time I have put into this app. I spent a lot less time learning Katakana than I did learning Hiragana without the dev's Hiragana Pro app.

Pushed me to finally learn the characters I didn't know. Learning is a pain in the butt, but I got results! It was super motivating to see the stars pile up, and to work toward 46/46. I thought I'd try out the app...then master 10 characters...then try to reach 20...after 25 minutes I'd finally finished learning katakana! I just can't get lazy and fail to review, or the knowledge will fall right back out...

The letters are nice and big, easy to read. The typing I would like in hiragana pro.I also have hiragana pro and I am able to read hiragana well now. Now working on katakana. Thanks for the hard work

I started playing Pokemon to practice reading, with it all being in Hiragana without Kanji. Then I saw it had Katakana. I went "screw it" and downloaded this. in about 1-2 non-consecutive hours I knew it all, it just works!

This app is excellent but i wish it had some settings which could make it harder, for example a configurable time penalty for wrong answers and a local scoreboard to keep track of your best times and the option to turn off the shaking icon on its first appearance would be make this app perfect

Exactly what I needed. You can't guess the answer when typing like in most of other apps. This app is clear, easy to navigate, great colour contrast; overall, it is just perfect!
