I have pretty good reaction time, about 1.7 seconds, but between the quickness of the drops and the delay in the character reacting, there is hardly any way to get started. New lives don't start the game over but stand in at a still-playing game. By the time one blinks and dies, the next life blinks and dies and then the third dies, all in the space of about 3 to 4 seconds.
