About Does not Commute

A strategic driving game from the award-winning maker’s of Smash Hit. Does not Commute is a temporal paradox in which you have no one to blame but yourself. What starts out as a relaxing commute in a small town of the 1970's quickly devolves into traffic chaos with hot dog trucks, sports cars, school buses and dozens of other vehicles. You drive them all. Plan ahead. Don't be late.

In this small town, discover the characters and their secrets – what world-changing experiment is inventive dentist Dr Charles Schneider hiding? Will Mr Baker quit his job in advertising? What is that strange mask on Mrs Griffin's face? Will Mr Mayfield’s peculiar obsession with Yorkshire Terriers take over his life?

Does Not Commute is playable at no cost and free from ads. An optional premium upgrade is available through a one-time in-app purchase that will enable the ability to continue from checkpoints.

Ok...very cool idea. BUT YOU HAVE TO PAY $2 TO PLAY!! It says a completely free game. And it is, but you have to play the entire game in one sitting!! You can't save at checkpoints u less you pay. THAT is just stupid.

Now, some of you might be wondering where this town is. It is not fictional, I have been there before. This town is called Argleton. If you don't know where it is, search it up. As for the game itself, it's amazing, lovely graphics, great concept, funny characters. But I don't like the pay to get checkpoint thing. I get it's how they get money. And these are the makers of Smash Hit and if I recall, that had a similar pay for checkpoints idea. (What I said about Argleton was a joke. Just look it up and you will understand!)

I love this game awesome storytelling, gives a vibe of old quest games only much more basic, looks beautiful also. Better get the paid version or else i wouldnt bother, but hey, its a fair price ! Wish i could save while on a level. I paused once and went to main menu and lost my current progress there should be an" are you sure" step so it wont happen.

Very interesting game with an amazing original concept. Checkpoints cannot be accessed until hit pay for it requiring you to play from the beginning every time. Honestly I loved that and forced me to save time. (Please read the character descriptions. They are really funny and there are a ton of inside jokes)

Really impressed by how unique this game is. It's tricky to describe... kind of a quick-paced reflex-based driving route puzzle game with a surreal narrative overtone. There are no ads and no dodgy pushy micro transactions. The free version is essentially a demo as you can't save the game, but the full version is only £2-something, which is more than reasonable. The developer is also totally upfront about this.

An innocent weirdness like They Might Be Giants music videos gilts this. The agenda for each driver is pure comedic poetry - simple as epitaphs and brilliant as Absurdism. The crazy driving is that much more fun to steer and watch in light of all the countless reasons these drivers are out of control. And the little meta jokes!...This is simply beautiful.

It's a fun game...when it works. I have yet to get past the Alice cream truck. By the time I get to the ambulance the ml pause screen flashes up (on its own without being touched) a couple of times and then my cars will only go in circles. Frustrating as I want to play more but have had the same problem all 5x I have launched the game

I came across this app from Smash Hit. Interesting, unique gameplay, concept and beautiful graphics. The challenge is there too. Most mistakes I made gave me a good laugh. I love the storyline, it's a good addition even if the game can progress without it. Overall this app is good but to pay for premium, I feel the game should add more content first to make its worth.

Love the concept and the story is funny but intriguing! The game is original and I loved how many people (spoilers) got bad endings! Great job, can we get a sequel? Btw those who say you need to pay, JUST RESTART. And those who say it's hard to control, THAT'S THE POINT OF A DRIVING GAME

H70%
by H####:

So, in theory, this is a game in which you have to guide different vehicles out of a certain living area one by one. The thing is, all vehicles are coming from and are going to different streets, and with every next vehicle you start navigating, all previous ones go through the map again (your driving is recorded), so every next loop becomes one vehicle busier and again and again until it's crazy and awesome. But forget all that - you need to play this game for yourselves and you can't go wrong! Just do.

M70%

I love this game, it makes me think about which twist and turns I took before with the other cars, and I love that. I like to think while playing a game. I'm not completely sure others like having to make strategies while playing a game, but I sure as heck know I do!

More boring than their Smash hit gam. Played offline Don't like that needs to buy premium to save checkpoint, may be can watch adverts to load saves. #unique

Fun and hectic game mechanic. Played first few levels and its pretty fun but the free version is basically a demo. You need to pay for checkpoints but the price is fairly reasonable seeing as I haven't spotted any ads or micro transactions

Love mediocre games! I now have all the mediocre games on my device, they create the most fun games I've ever played!! This game is completely different from any other game I've ever played, I really like the concept of the game. Only thing is with the free version you have to start from the beginning each time, you can buy the full version which will allow you to start from checkpoints. I think buying the full version would be worth it & I probably will buy it when I can. Give this game a try!!

U70%
by U####:

This game is cool, I haven't seen a game similar to this, makes you think and is fun. But in order to enable checkpoints you have to buy "premium". This means either beat the game in one sitting or you're stuck starting over everything you play. I don't like being forced to pay for things and it really detracts from the game.

U70%
by U####:

The most stupid marketing decision ever! Pay 2 euro to enable check points and game progress... Ho-ho-ho you are bloody idiots... And this is game is editor's choose... Booo Booo. I've just Uninstall the game!

U70%
by U####:

Mediocre in general makes extremely long games that you have to pay $3 to use checkpoints. This one is the worst in my opinion though. If I close out of the app for half a second, I lose all my progress. Basically, you're going to play for a long time to get far without doing anything else. This is not a game that you can pick up and play for 5-10 minutes. On the other hand, the game play is great and challenging, and I would give it a five if not for the checkpoint system.

U70%
by U####:

Great game, very addictive. To everyone moaning about having to pay to save checkpoints... its a free game with no ads. Paying £1.60 to be able to save is well worth it I think. I would much rather have this system than in app purchases which in the long wrong would probably have most people spending a lot more money

Made me smile like no other game in recent memory. Fantastically executed game with a simple but ingenious design. Gotta pay $2.99! No other way. Game is that good & unfortunately, checkpoints are necessary. Could've given 10 checkpoints free per day.

U70%
by U####:

This game has me laughing at every character blurb and loving the gameplay. It's unique that you have to avoid how poorly you drove on previous turns... I realized more than once that when I was shouting "WHO TAUGHT YOU TO DRIVE, JACKASS" that I was, in fact, road raging at myself. Getting premium to use checkpoints is a must and highly encouraged. Supporting the creators of this amazing game is not wasted money, in my opinion.

U70%
by U####:

The checkpoint system ruins the game! Not having a checkpoint within a stage would have made sense but no checkpoint at all, in the free version, is a bummer. They could have included ads or even video ads between the stages for revenue.

U70%
by U####:

Not much here in terms of replayability. You can make it pretty far without paying for the checkpoints, but it does get old quick. For me, the content isn't worth what they're asking right now. (was $1 now $3 for "premium").

So many of the negative reviews here are complaints about how you have to pay to save your game. It's a one-time payment and the developer's have earned it for making a great game. Don't know why so many think that game developers should make fun and beautiful games like this for free. And this is free-to-play done right. They let you try the game for free without saves and then it's a one-time payment to unlock the full game.

Great game, i wish people would stop complaining about how you have to pay for check points, honestly its alot better and less intrusive than most other in app purchases,be glad they dont charge you to use turbo or to reset. Plus i think its a fun challenge to see how far you can get with one life

I70%
by I####:

Yes you have to pay for checkpoint saving. No, I don't think it's that bad of a deal. The game is near perfect. Responsive controls, good graphics, fun concept. If it randomised the routes for each stage, or even just the order of the people, it would increase replayability no end. Other than that, buy it, and you won't regret it.

U70%

the game is super great but having the player restart all the way from the start and making them pay for checkpoints? it makes me kinda bored and super infuriated. could only give 3/5

S70%
by S####:

Not enjoying the fact I have to pay to start where I left off. It's a fun game but I don't have time to go through 3 stages each time to get back to where I was. But if u have lots of free time at one time this Game is for you.

U70%
by U####:

When I played this game, I was drawn in by the cars and the funny back stories of the people. I recommend this app if you want to kill time. Could the developers add more levels and a crash level where you crash the cars. Also please take off the time limit. Great game.

I70%
by I####:

You play for hours and then it comes back to start all over again. Doesn't make sense playing without checkpoints. Instead make the additional features like turbo and traction as paid ones.

U70%
by U####:

If you're not going to dish out some cash, then be ready for the uninstall button. The game is fun once you get the hang of driving. The only problem is you can't save your progress unless you pay for the game. You have to start over on level 1 every time you restart the game. I never thought I'd say this, but I miss the ads (for the free and saved gameplay of coarse).

U70%
by U####:

Whie the idea behind the game is genius, and it's really fun trying to predict where the next car will have to go, the cars are all steer an accelerate different, so it's challenging to acclimate yourself to them. Some are really slow but steer well, while others are almost impossible to control. The graphics and soundtrack are both really fun and fitting too. All in all, a great app game.

U70%
by U####:

Great graphics and fun but the way the demo works is assholish. It saves checkpoints fine but if you try to use one, the game pops a 'buy premium' in your face. Indies these days toss around Premium like you get a bonus for registering but actually it's the same as Pre-orders & DLC: They just remove features and demand a randsom to get them back! Make it only the first level, and call it a demo like honest programmers used to do.

Really, really enjoyed it. Great music, great graphics, even better gameplay! Some have complained that you need to pay for checkpoints. Are you joking? I remember in the eighties paying $80 for a tiny 32KB game. People need to understand the amount of work that goes into making a game of this quality and be grateful. $4!!! Just a cup of coffee. What a bargain! Thank you developers, great job!

Commute is a driving game against yourself. You can be as competitive or casual as you want, but the charm lies in the increasingly bizarre storylines behind the drivers. It is well worth the $2 purchase to try this innovative concept. If nothing else, I could listen to the music score for hours.

U70%
by U####:

First off, I paid for premium checkpoints because that's how this developer chose to get paid for their time. So I'm not complaining there. However, I'm getting a bug where your progress is not restored if you play the game, lock your phone midway and then open a notification. All progress on that level is lost and you have to start from the beginning. It's pretty inconvenient when you play on the train, then lock your phone to walk home and open it only to have to start over again. Great, solid game!

Definitely a unique game, good for casual gaming when you have some time to kill. Can be somewhat challenging at times. Worth a download. Only thing I'd change is add the ability to save the game mid level. I want to be able to pause and come back without having to play the first ten cars of a stage to get back to where I was.

Great quality and great concept. Had some really funny and awesome game play. The game can be very challenging and the no checkpoints can provide some frustration. A playtime of 5-20 minutes erased if you run out of time. However a small purchase of 3 bucks for premium will prevent this issue. The game's still amazing but effort is defective in the long run.

U70%
by U####:

Well I really enjoy playing this game I will say it would be more entertaining if there was a way to save each individual driver instead of just after each level. I like games are challenging but the difficulty can be adjusted a little bit more than this one can

U70%
by U####:

Really cool idea and well put together, but I'm not going to pay several dollars for something as basic as a checkpoint system. I don't want to play through in one sitting, but unless I do I get sent back to the beginning every time I start the app.
