CILTY: The Logistics Challenge

Help CILTY, our friend from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, or his friend Elli, across the Island learning about different logistics activities in a fun, exciting and challenging way. There are 12 challenges on each level, and by passing each challenge, you can become a logistics master. Really, logistics can be fun. Currently, there are four mini-games, each presenting its own logistics challenge.


Pick-to-light is the first of the logistics challenges. Pick the items and slide them into the order basket when you see the green light. When there are no more green lights showing, the order is complete, and you can move on to the next order, until the challenge is complete. Keep an eye on the clock, as you can’t doddle.Once the orders have been picked, you need to get them to the right vehicle for delivery. In the conveyor belt game, you have to make sure
the right orders go to the right vehicles. Tap the turntable to direct the parcel to the right vehicle. The third challenge
is to load the vehicle. You have to be quick because the trucks have to leave on time, and if you don’t get all the packages in the back of the trailer in time, you’ll have to try again. Packages have to be loaded carefully as well. You can’t pile them on top of each other, either.


Finally, the Travelling Salesman Problem game lets you help choose route that will minimize the total distance
CILTY or Elli will travel in order to deliver a package to each house on the screen. If you aren’t close enough to the optimum, you’ll have to try again.

Logistics and Supply Chain Management is what makes it possible for nearly all the goods you purchase to be available at the right place, at the right time, in the right condition for the right price.This supply chain game is designed to introduce you to some of the basic decisions that have to be made in logistics.


* Aim:

Your aim is to help CILTY, or Elli, visit every place on the map. Complete the challenges and unlock additional challenges in order to move to the next level. At each point on the map you will have to succeed in the logistics challenge presented.Aim to help CILTY or Elli become a logistics master.


* How to play:

Touch the place on the map you want to go. Once on a location, a pop-up will let you enter a small challenge. If you
are successful, you can come back to the map and move on to the next challenge. Try and complete every
challenge along the way and become a logistics master. There are currently four mini-games each presenting its own logistics challenge. Follow the on-screen instructions in order to succeed.


-Note to Parents: This game is designed for ages 5+. It is a fun way to learn about the different activities involved in
logistics. Development of the game has been sponsored by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport
through an idea by Professor David Menachof of the Logistics Institute at the Hull University Business School and developed by students in SEED at the University of Hull’s Computer Science Department.
