Gauntlet is a fantasy-themed hack and slash dungeon type game originally released in 1985.
Bring back a little bit of the 1980's nostalgia gaming with this "Gauntlet Clone", hack and slash your way though 27+ Arcade Levels, 13+ Custom Levels(user generate maps and the developers) and finally 94+ ZXSpectrum levels of warrant mayhem and destruction.
Take the lead of one of the main characters Warrior (Thor), Valkyrie (Thyra), Wizard (Merlin) or Elf (Questor) and pick your wits against ghosts, grunts, demons and others, it's your turn to remember what gaming was all about in that classic time period of 1985.
Map Editor Released
It's finally arrived
Now you can play three types of maps independently of each other Arcade (based on the arcde machine), Custom (users or developer has created), ZXSpecturm(based on the 48K spectrum, but with graphics up to date).
I've even added the facility to make your own maps using a custom Map Editor. Press the flashing button, and download the editor, get a little fame when others play your level(s) you have created, With a level name "Please provide one", your developer name, and a description if you want, just create them and send the maps to use, it's all in the download provided.
Screen Sizes
The game will work on phone's and tablet's, but the bigger device screen you can use it will make it easier to move as an 8 way directional virtual joystick is quite sensitive on smaller devices( <6 inch), this has been run and continually gets run on the following devices Samsung Tab S 10.5, Samsung 10.1(2012), Nexus 9, Nexus 7(2013), Nexus 6, HTC Desire 610, if it does happen to freeze lift your finger should reset it.
Further Notes:
Be aware that the controls work like the original (I cannot emphasis this enough), you cannot move and fire at the same time, if you want this feature, go to the main settings and change Classic to Modern (as requested by users).
If you are having trouble moving on your device with the default joystick, change to the touchpad in the main window.
Every few weeks I release new content this may or may not be re-balancing of the game in some way( hero/monsters) and new maps.
Ads system:
In version 1.4+, ads have been added so you can easily get health(optional at the start of a level), to save on your data tariff these ads are not pre-initialised (e.g. pre-downloaded), so it will take longer to start them just so you are aware.

The game is too difficult to play. I'm 51, and I played this game already in 1986. In the original you can buy extra life by inserting a coin.So if you want to you can start10000 health points. I can make it max. to level 7. Thanks for the update. I still play this game every day. Now I can make it to level 15/17. Maybe you can give us 3000 or 4000 health points for Christmas, so we can enjoy playing further levels.

Ghosts take off minimum life but damage from others is like death is touching you. Lacks fight ability for any character even warrior so when you shoot you better not miss as once your fireball, axe Or arrow go offscreen you better run away while you wait.

Fix controls please. Everything else spot on! Hard to control even when using a Note5. Wish controls had more accuracy. Maybe let my finger move to where the avatar will go? Missing feature of the auto attack when running into the monster generators. Make more games from Amiga or Atari ST u guys are awesome. Spy Hunter/Major Motion please.

Complete nostalgia made me purchase. Graphics are spot-on, but that control system! Noooooooo! UNPLAYABLE. If this was a favourite back in the day. I was ready to smash out hours of nostalgia goodness. But, that control system wrecks it, does not go where you want it to, time and time again. Author says he fixed the controls last year, but I call bullship! DO NOT BUY. I can't get a refund now, so disappointed. Dev contacted 16th Feb me telling me not give a bad review. How about coding a playable control system instead of being a fuchtard.

Wow. Played many hours on this as a kid. Loved it then and i'm loving this now. The controls can be a tad frustrating, but hopfully this can be sorted with time. Player seems to get stuck on the spot sometimes and it took me a while to figure out the health metre. All in all, pretty good.

Total health of character not shown and enemies don't damage it. The characters don't use hand to hand, just do firing.

I like the look, it is pleasantly pixelated and moves fluidly. I also like the layout of the screen with the inventory and powerups across the top. Unfortunately the melee animation for Questor is missing currently and the onscreen joystick controls are extremely imprecise meaning often pressing Left results in me going up to the right. I am using a Sony Xperia Aqua though and it's not the best gaming mobile so I'm not sure where the fault lies. All in all I am pleased with the game as it stands.

Hey developer, I've read the other reviews hoping I would find some hope for fixing the issue with the controls but found you telling then they where wrong and saying that's not how the game works, but I still struggle with the controls. OK so I figured it out. You need to pull your finger away from the control pad very far, and just circle around the controls

Loved this game growing up. This version is choppy when moving. What is not good is when trying to destroy creatures or generators in corners behind the cracks you have to find the sweet spot which is pretty much impossible.
