Chess Puzzles for Android
Bugs!
fake
Drag and drop is horribly inaccurate. No instructions about what you are trying to do in each puzzle. Replay button doesn't work, so no way to try again a puzzle once the drag and drop drops the piece on the wrong square. No advice about which move is right and why. Try CNVCS instead. More puzzles, better interface, and it's free.
This is a nice set of puzzles, however I hate the way you must drag and drop the pieces. I have gotten countless puzzles wrong because it prematurely drops the pieces. All standard chess apps let you select the piece, and then select the square you want it to move to. The drag and drop is very frustrating
I like this app very much. It's much, much better than other chess puzzles apps that I have used. The interface is clean and simple. The puzzles/positions are realistic (maybe from real games?). There's only one chance of solving the problem so you really have to choose the best solution. The rating gained/lost for each puzzle is also a very big plus. It's a very nice motivational element. The only thing I don't like with this app is the drag and drop style of moving the pieces. It's very, very frustrating.
some problems are buggy to start with. there is no response when you try to play. secondly, drag and drop is not appropriate for touch screens. lastly, what system are you using to award points? it should be fair for both loses and wins. this is a learning opportunity, not a punishment
The app uses sliding to move figures instead of taps. As a result, having habit in use of all other chess apps (they use move-with-taps), almost all puzzles end with "my mistake". The issue isn't fixing for a long time. Uninstalling...
Puzzles are challenging. Time doesn't factor in to the points you get for solving the puzzle, so that's a plus. If you lose, it's minus points for you. After solving the puzzle or failing to solve the puzzle, you can review the solution by using the replay buttons. That was not obvious to me at first.
This is a nice tactics collection spoiled by a horrible UI and lockup bugs. Drag and drop is NOT suitable for phones. If you have a capacitive stylus and don't mind carrying it around, you're fine, but otherwise the app is close to unusable. That's a shame because the tactics collection is nice and very helpful. There are still serious bugs too, as I experience random lockups on some puzzles.
Nice collection of intermediate-level puzzles. The initial square of the opponent's piece before the first move is normally known in a game and can be a useful hint in itself. Option to show square labels would be nice. One attempt to get it right is good training for real tournaments. Use of back/forward buttons to show solution is nice and visual, but I discovered this feature through another review. A message on the screen would be better. Explanation of calculations would be helpful also.
Great way to kill time and improve your game. Would be nice if there was an option to stop the phone from sleeping while you play or if you could choose to make moves by touching the relevant squares instead of dragging the piece but I still use this app daily.
Nice app but the drag and drop its annoying. Should be able to choose selecting from-to squares in settings as an alternate method.
Hangs up on 1st move for computer for some problems. Some problems have wrong/bad solutions. No touch to move makes for mistakes as difficult to drag and drop a piece.
One MASSIVE problem is the way it is so easy to ACCIDENTLY move the piece to the wrong square and be told YOU LOSE! This is very frustrating when you lose points. Shaky flakey trembly drag and drop is not good enough. Apart from that it's very sound and a !! is to get it.
Some problems have no solution: when you try to move a piece none are selectable. Also, sometimes the app registers a different square than the one you drag the piece to.
Should have a "try again" option rather than having only 1 shot at it then having the app show you the right move.
Well worth 1 buck. Would be 5 stars if there was a setting where you could move the pieces to test your move prior to actually solving the puzzle.
Cant move the pieces! Drag and Drop is hopeless!
The puzzles are quite fun. But sometimes there're moves that aren't covered by this game and we lose the game instead.
I play this often. Gives me a different perspective using these puzzles.
Excellent app. Would be great to have an explanation of how the rating system works, and what the rating means - beginner, grandmaster ??
Otherwise application is very good...
This is a great program! If you are reading this buy it now and improve your chess!
This definitely improving my chess tactics.
Been using it for a while now and it's become a favorite
Horrible Interface
Awesome
Great chess
Excellent
Great
Instruction and target such as under # of move could be interesting.
Hey, nice app but could you add some explanations for the rest of us that don't really know how to play? :))
Easy to use and fine to pass time :-) Can you add a way to play a game with a friend in train ??
I really like it. nice
Fun & challenging
AWSOME.
Tried to play but the drag and drop functionality isn't cutting it like others have said. I don't need some polished 3d polygonal chess piece either, something 2-d and functional is fine, just need to be able to actually move... The interface is also a bit disorienting too.
Cannot choose puzzle or level
No way to replay if you lose.
