XON Episode One for Android
I've been looking for mobile games with nice graphics, clever puzzles, and an air of strangeness like Myst. XON and The Room are the best! The Room has more elaborate puzzles but smaller environments. XON is much more expansive, and its imagery is brighter and more minimalist but still eerie and wonderful. Imagine waking up on an alien world. You're surrounded by weird monuments and mechanisms without instructions, and you explore to see what you can do. It's a beautiful, fascinating experience. Try it now!
Gorgeous game that took me back to my Myst days. But, try as I might I couldn't get the hang of the controls. I went too fast and zipped past my destination, I went one way when I meant to go another, I spun around like a dervish while staring at the sky, and once I fell into a stone crevasse behind a switch pillar, stuck between a bridge and a wall, and I couldn't get out. Had to uninstall as I was getting motion sickness. Maybe I'll try again at a later date.
Dislike that I was able to climb the wall in one room only to get stuck and unable to get out. Need to fix this. Spent hours getting all the valves turned on only to get stuck. Will change to 5 stars after a patch is made, will keep game a bit, if no fix I'm uninstalling. UPDATE: So I try again yesterday to get stuck in a room with orb behind the gate. Yes you can jump across the cliff and fall down into the gated area only to get stuck, guests they never fixed the glitch, won't be buying any of their games.
I enjoyed it but finnished in less than 10 min. The graphics are good, the controls are smooth, the puzzles are few and not chalenging. Mostly excited by the mere existence of games like this on mobile. 4 star concept, 3 star execution. Gave it four because i can't give 3.5.
I've never seen a game so difficult to move around in!! Just trying to zoom in on one area was impossible! Spent most of the time staring at the ground or up against a wall!! Waaay to frustrating!! Did nothing but try to move for 5 minutes. Nty! Uninstalled!!
Game lacks point and feels empty. Controls...sticky, and Unfortunately for me, some of these types of games cause me to suffer motion sickness, which it did. Uninstalling.
If I would have paid for this game I would have been really annoyed! First issue was the navigation. I went back and forth, trying each control setting and speed and it still sucked so bad I wanted to throw my phone into a boiling pit of lava! Second issue-TOO short to even explain. Literally one chapter long. If I could give minus 5 stars I would. The graphics made it bearable. Unless you want motion sickness and enjoy 15 minutes of walking in a circle turning on balls,,,,,skip this.
Reading some of the comments I was expecting difficult controls. Was pleasantly surprised. I couldn't be happier with the 'duel-stick' style movement.
I am stuck on the other side of the gate (I sneaked across the wall after the tunnel with the lights and fell down to the next blue and silver ball. Activated but can't get out......hmmm
Game reminiscent of Myst. I did not find it too hard, but it is a nice challenge. The game world, even with no backstory, is quite immersive. I'll go on to try episode 2.
Wow...Simply breathtaking game, feels like you are actually there..takes a little while to get feel for movement but the graphics are stunning
"Explore the mysteries?" Of a series of about 15 switches where the end result is activation of an elevator? Yawn. Boring. Nothing about this game is interesting, there are no good puzzles, this is not fun. The only good points are that the engine is smooth and movement is fast (stops you wasting more of your time on this poor "game")
Beautiful game. As some others mentioned a small glitch of the turning becoming incredibly slow and the arrows disappearing. Restating fixes it temporarily. This is only one level. 2 bucks a piece for the other levels. If you are not going to purchase the others don't bother with this it is just a tease. Wish there was an ad supported version.
Good puzzle game with fantastic graphics for android. But absolutely terrible controls. The sensitivity for looking around is too low and theres no bluetooth controller support.
Absolutely beautiful but playability is awful. The "camera" is hard to control making it hard to look or move where you want. Much too frustrating. I almost got dizzy playing the game and uninstalled after a minute or two.
I have fallen through the floor, after activating the six, what I can only presume to be, gas valves, and set the three light balls, nothing happens. Good visuals, the sounds are slightly unnerving, but I like that.
I might just be dumb but it was confusing. great graphics though.
Freaking Awsome. I have no idea what the heck im supposed to do! Its just fun. P.S. I'm fifty years old. P.S.S controls are working great for me.
Tasty, bite-size morsels of environmental puzzles which will please Cyan fans on a fundamental if superficial level (the puzzles are like mini ecosystems, rather than involving arbitrary codes or object matching). Everything about this series is satisfying for what it is; a kind of combination homage and proof-of-concept. There is great potential from the clearly talented dev(s) for further world building, with backstory and lore, for the likes of a fully contained release with a more realized world and plot. Hopefully sales of these episodes will go towards a full game, because I'd love to see what stepping it up a notch into full fledged world building would look like.
Unfortunately it was so boring i didn't even go past the first screen. You can barely hear any soonds. It needs more (ambient) sounds (adjustable in settings). With a few tweaks it could be more like Myst or Riven, where it feels like you are there. I rated it 3 stars because of the incredible graphics, otherwise a 2. However, with tweaks it could make history.
Not a fan of the controls. Feels reminiscent of computer controls but not as natural because the control fields aren't clearly defined. I also disliked being dropped in without a sense of what I was suppose to be doing or why. Also way too short, once I figured the controls out it took me less then half an hour to beat. But for a free game it's fine and helped kill some time, but I won't be buying the next two episodes.
I've never seen a game so difficult to move around in!! Just trying to zoom in on one area was impossible! Spent most of the time staring at the ground or up against a wall!! Waaay to frustrating!! Did nothing but try to move for 5 minutes. Nty! Uninstalled!!
Totally loved it! I kinda like how no explanation is given for the world you're in. Just start solving. I was more than able to play this on a small screened smartphone with no graphical malfunctions. It was a wonderful, slightly challenging, relaxing experience. Will DEFINITELY be purchasing the sequels.
Short, and not very difficult, but a really well designed and enjoyable taster game. I love the interface, it plays really well on a tablet.
This episode made a good teaser/trailer for the game. The graphics were by and large well done and the terrain interesting. For this episode the puzzles were not too difficult, especially if you are a fan of its inspiration source (Cyan's Myst). • Warning, you will need to set the screen brightness to maximum during play; although I did complete the game with the screen set to auto, I spent too much time wandering about (or walking into a wall) because it was so dark, the screen was just black. I think a message on screen at game start would have been helpful here. • The visual markers for the arrow controls disappeared on occasion as well, but that was only a minor inconvenience forcing a bit of searching.
This amazing masterpice of a puzzle game is amazing! The graphics for the map created for the game is amazing, and the challenging puzzles will make you ponder all day long. The best thing about this is that, unlike other puzzle games, this is a 3D free roam game, meaning no more tapping on a door or whatever to go to the next screen. You can actually use thumbsticks to move. Some other things unlike other traditional puzzle games such as these is that there is no story. Not even a hidden one, as far as I can tell! You just show up in this alien enviroment, look around, and start solving. Also, there is no inventory, so you don't go Legend of Zelda and have to find a key or guess which item works on what. overall, this is an amazing puzzle game, and I want to play the next two episodes, which are apparently about two dollars each. It's pretty cool! Thanks for reading my review for this awesome free roam puzzle game, and I hope that I could help you decide wether or not you try to solve it as well.
I was totally dumbfounded for about two days, having put the game down thinking this was a meaningless riddle, only to return to discover I'd inadvertently activated something and realised exactly what was going on! After this revelation there's not much left to do, but it was a beautiful and fun distraction! I'll get the second soon of course...
Fun and interesting little game, nice environment. The "recommended" controls are laughable but if you select the arrows method (it asks you before you start) it's absolutely fine. And as someone else said, definitely needs more sounds. Enjoyed it :)
I really want to play the next 2:episodes 2 and 3.I really had fun but now its ruined,so maybe to the 2 and 3 add something extra ,so the free one dosent have that extra.
Controls were awesome!!! Once I got the hang of it (which took less than a minute), I was cruising around quickly and effortlessly. I wish other games (Tomb Raider, for example) were this intuitive and easy to control. Fun environment, nice puzzle, can't wait to play the next episodes!!!
Finished in 15 minutes what I thought was the first level. Really fun puzzle, but figured there would be more. Was confused when I realized that was it.
IT'S ALL ABOUT OBSERVATION. Cracked in barely under an hour, I love the exploration feel in this that you don't get in escape the room games.
Reminiscent of the classic game Myst, XON drops you into a strange world with strange contraptions and leaves you largely to your own devices. Unfortunately it's over all too quickly (provided you have the ability to reason and think for yourself) and almost feels more like a preview of Episode 2, than a true standalone game. But it's free, and what a preview it is! If you like what you see even a little bit, do yourself a favor and check out the sequels. This is only the tip of an epic iceberg.
I now have all three starting off is complicated till you master the controls , then you just get drawn into the scenery
Nice graphics, ad free but also very very short (30 minutes max). Also few bugs; falling through moving platform, once fallen through floor and lights don't start if you set them before the target appears.
As a kid I loved the Myst series, this game has potential to be as epic. Needs a few things in my opinion: Ambient music was a staple of Myst series and really enhanced the game. A storyline which is compelling and a human element would engage the gamer more. It's a good puzzle but what is this thing and why is it here? At least offer a clue. Great graphics and controls work fine.
Make sure you have your screen brightness all the way up, I ran into a lot of walls before finding what I really needed. Great graphics, easy to move, definitely getting episode two
Looks amazing and plays very fluid, I've purchased all 3 episodes and their all class so 5*
Good game. Ppl rating 1 star because they cant solve it are stupid. Its well made and doesnt need a story. Go play Elder Scrolls if you want a story.

For some reason after a few moments playing the screen becomes very VERY slow to look around. Moving is fine, no graphics lag but you have to swipe across the entire length of the screen to move the view just a few inches. Makes it impossible to play. If this bug could be fixed then I'm sure I'd really enjoy playing. [HTC One M9 running Android 6.0]
