About Regex Xword
Inspired by the MIT 2013 Mystery Hunt, this is the geek version of Sudoku-meet-crossword. Each clue on the grid represents a regular expression. The row of cells it points to must match this expression exactly. You can do the original Mystery Hunt version or one of the programmatically generated ones.
This is my first attempt at constructing the puzzle programmatically so, don’t judge too harshly. If there is any interest I’ll look to improve the algorithm in the next release.

You can feel how it's auto generated a bit but the problem is the interface. It hijacks the scrolling some how and can only go x or y. Throwing the screen selected the first cell moving the guide and any time you let go it selected that cell. Very hard to keep the guide colours on the right cell when dragged. Just use a stock scrolling ui!

Needs more basic puzzles addressing how to play, and also some square puzzles- they pose a more simpler game for begginers.

If you don't know what regex is, read about it somewhere first. Fun to play. Multiple levels for everyone to enjoy :-). Some minor bugs e.g. parts of the crossword regex expressions cannot be seen when keyboard is open. Would probably give it 5 stars, if it weren't for bugs.

I like the idea of the puzzles, but the strange swiping, lack of hex highlighting and lack of zoom especially really kills it for me. I can't play this on my phone. Kudos for not requiring unnecessary permissions.

It's really difficult to navigate the grid, no zoom, can't swipe-to-scroll anywhere I want, should use a double-click-to-select so the highlighting stay when scrolling…

Fine, but not a fan of the hexagonal shape / ui. It's visually disorganized and not as clean as it could be.

There is no tutorial or explanation on what to do or how to play. As a result I have no clue what I'm even looking at. May be fun, but I have no way of knowing.

This could be great for checking noobs know the basics. With some complexity you'd make a good practice tool. Add some details to the choice of algorithm and it would really help to cement new learning of more complex atoms. More stars if the scrolling is improved. [:-P]
