Record Run for Android
It's pretty addicting, and rewarding when you finally get five stars on a song
Really good game so far I hope it stays that way
Been checking the Play Store every single day since Record Run was announced and made my day when I found it thanks to the announcement on the Amplitude live stream (by the way, help back it on KickStarter please! Both FreQuency and Amplitude were and still are amazing games!!) Can't wait to transfer some tracks to my phone and jam out, starting with Symbion Project's "Synthesized 2013"! You rock Harmonix!
The app starts crashing and exits when I add more songs. I already have 24 of my songs on the list but when I am about to add my 25th it just crashed and the app closes. This never happened to me on my old phone (it's a flare s3, my current phone is Q894).
A great idea, if it worked. The game runs smoothly with the pre downloaded music, however once you add your own music and try to select that, it outright does not work, the app crashes and shuts itself. The entire point of this game is to play with your own music, and without that, there is no point to the game. Its just one of millions of other generic rhythm games out there without this feature. Had the ability to add your own music actually worked, I would absolutely recommend this.
Really good game so far I hope it stays that way
Cool concept but the limited music and buy-buy-buy mechanics ruined it. Shame that none of my music ever worked once.
It needs more guy characters and some improvements.
Playing the game alone doesn't give much entertainment, but being able to play to any song you want makes it that much better.
It's pretty addicting, and rewarding when you finally get five stars on a song
Works great on an old note 3 but crashes without mercy on nexus 6...
I love to play this game thank you harmonix for this best game
Really good game so far I hope it stays that way
On Nexus 7 The gameplay itself is pretty straightforward, with a bit of a challenging learning curve for top scores. It isn't explained in-game that to get five stars you need to hit as many pads as possible with high accuracy, or shows how to pole swing/wall jump. There's the issue with the occasional finger swipe that doesn't read and accidental pressing of function buttons/icons during gameplay, but I found that both issues go away with getting used to playing.
I was surprised to find that Harmonix made a mobile game, and one that allows players to use their own music in the game. Record Run is a typical endless runner, but the music integration allows for levels timed to the music. The music is timed well to the level obstacles, with only slight issues in input delay when dodging. The downsides of this game include an IAP model and the music adding system, which sadly does not allow players to play their entire music library at once. Pushing the downsides away, this is a fun music runner game with interesting and stylized cartoony visuals and some nice included music. The gameplay is straightforward with a short learning curve to get used to the controls, and is fun when the music matches the level's obstacles closely for some fun running action with rhythm elements.
Record Run is a fun title and I don't think I've ever enjoyed a runner game quite like I enjoy this one. So why only two stars? I keep running into responsiveness issues with the controls. Sometimes, a movement won't be registered. I've spent a lot of time watching my characters just run straight on into things because my swipes won't register. Other times, they register erratically. A downward swipe to slide might be read as a swipe in any other direction, including up. This is a pretty big deal, since it's the core mechanic of the game. I've also had the music desync on me several times, usually when some other process is happening. Since I'm playing it on my phone, this is unavoidable. This will render the game virtually unplayable until you beat, fail, or exit out of the song in question. There are also other, minor issues: music management is a pain, but this is only an issue when finding songs to import or after you build up a bit of a library. This doesn't break the game, but it's disappointing, considering all the time Harmonix spent refining management in Rock Band. You also can't delete a "bad" song, so you're stuck with what you get once you've played.
When picking a song. Deal breaker.
Really fun game!!
Could use some tweaks, but it's a very enjoyable game anyhow
Do not download correctly
It's cool I love this game
Great game, but for some reason whenever my phone gives me a warning that my battery is low, it tells me Record Run has stopped working, even if the app isn't running at all.
Way too boring.
Wish it was available on my phone ...
The greatest game come out of Harmonix since the cult smash Amplitude, truly the greatest thing ever.
<3
Can't add songs. Force close
Since I love music I love this app nook
Awsome game
I have GTA SA on my phone so already not a lot of space left. I do have enough to download this but additional memory is taken up for every song conversion you do in the game and it just continues to build up. Music Hero doesn't have this issue, make it better, Harmonix!!! I want to be able to get rid of conversions of certain songs so I'll have the memory to convert others.
The developers screens are immersive as well as the intro but the game leaves immersive mode once you begin to play.
Cool concept but the limited music and buy-buy-buy mechanics ruined it. Shame that none of my music ever worked once.
I really really loved the game but i can not play my own song i will rate five stars when it is fixed and i have huawei. And can you add more songs instead of four songs when you cant play your own songs
On a nexus 5, needs to go full screen immersive mode. Really fun otherwise but I find myself hitting home or back accidentally or launching google now. I should also be able to use my google play music collection in game.
When the automatic beat-matching algorithm works properly (just try "It's Your Thing" by The Jackson 5!), it makes for the sort of joyous rhythm game experience I'd expect from Harmonix. When it doesn't work as well, it's a frustrating mess. This wouldn't be such an issue if we could just delete songs that don't work well with the game, but we can't. Please patch the game to allow for this... I want to be able to enjoy it, but I'm prevented by short-sighted design decisions!
The game is an interesting music game experiment that, while solid, needs quite a bit more refinement. The game's presentation is great, and the gameplay is simple, addictive, and easy to pick up but hard to master. However, receiving stages that are actually fun to play from importing your own songs is often hit or miss, and is particularly frustrating since you cannot swap out a song once you've set a score. In addition, the song browser itself is also a pain to use with no way to sort songs or artists. and the game can take up a lot of internal memory, especially if you've imported a lot of music. The controls are also sometimes imprecise, and you're given very little indication of what actually makes up a good performance. Still, once you've curated a playlist of good songs there's definitely some fun to be had with the game.
The description makes this game seem far more immersive than it really is, I could play any other endless runner and it would be exactly the same as this one, all I have to do is play my music in any music app and have it run while playing it, also why is THIS game 300mb big? No idea, its just another runner but with uglier char models (my opinion.)
Immersive mode is odd... Works sometimes and other times it doesn't. But good fun all the same
Howay harmonix. Shape up
