Usagi Yojimbo:Way of the Ronin

It's a must-have for UY fans. However, it's a simple button masher that ends too quickly. There's a lotta potential here for expanding the game's appeal w/ some updates but as is it feels unfinished & rushed. Some new levels would be nice. Otherwise, there's no reason to leave it installed upon completion...

Improper to the legendary usagi jojimbo, it is a combination of aimless fight and poor story, not worth the money..

Ive been waiting for this game ever since i saw it at comic con nyc. Came out great! I recommend this to any fans of castle crashers or the old school TMNT arcade games. Grab it now, you wont be disappointed.

Ok, I was mislead by game instructions. It says to swipe diagonally to shoot up when what you need to do is swipe up to shoot diagonally. :| Anyway I was able to beat level 4. Still the code for extra level won't work... :/ I wonder if it was disabled?

The story is interesting enough, and it's cool to play along the different characters from the Usagi Yojimbo universe, but other than that, it's a mindless button masher with hopelessly broken controls... you can unlock new attacks and combos for your character, but they are almost impossible to pull off, most specially the bow, which is specially awful considering that there's a final boss that you can only defeat by shooting arrows at him. Another problem with this game is the graphics: The layers are absolutely messed up. Sometimes Usagi's hat will show behind his head, sometimes it's his arm showing behind his body, enemies look weird, etc. It's been like this since release day and it doesn't look like they care enough to fix it, so I can't really recommend this game, no even to the die-hard fans of the Usagi Yojimbo books, since this game is, in general, a very lousy, polish-lacking experience that feels unfinished and careless. As a die hard fan of UY I was so excited when this hit the market but I'm so disappointed by how buggy this game is. I really feel this game still needs a bit more fine tuning. At least on my phone I have a difficult time getting the different attacks, especially the bow which only seems only to work when it feels like it. I really hope the developers can get everything fine tuned so I can enjoy this game.

The story is great, the game play is OK, graphics look good when they're right. However, graphic layers are a mess, shooting an arrow rarely works, and how does one get mastery points? Game really needs finishing. I hope there is a sequel and it gets the attention it deserves.

Not fluid bad layering and I just got an update which made me happy, however it was just to get my precise GPS location....what the heck man, fix it and I'll rate better , its sad because this is a fun game and an even better character

Feels like playing a comic book. Runs fast and smooth on my phone. It does take a while to load. Probably because the art is so detailed. The game plays like Castle Crashers or other beat up games, but with a story as well. Highly recommended.

FINALLY, AN USAGI GAME!! I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for something like this. As a huge fan of the comics I love the way it's presented like a combination of comic book and butt kicking 2D brawler. Great story, tons of fun to play, just great to see my old buddy Usagi in action. MAKE A SEQUEL!!!!!

Device: Stock Nexus 7 Game play is pretty straight forward (2D scroller). You see enemies, you kill enemies. Graphics are ok for the game, though I did notice a couple of glitches (katana hilts appearing outside the hands, hat floats behind his head). Also, not sure if I'm just not doing things right, but the combos didn't always seem to work. During combat, if you press the attack buttons too much Usagi continues that attack and doesn't stop. I can't comment on the story, since I haven't read the comics though I've heard good things. If they clean up some of the combat and graphics, I'd say definitely worth it for fans of the character. Other than that, make sure you download via wifi and play during your refund period.

No strategy either, all you need to do is button mash! No need for combos or special attacks. As a fan of over 25 years I'm disappointed that Stan Sakai signed off on this. I feel a better product would have been delivered with more testing and passion for the IP. Uninstalled.
