Bridge Baron for Android
Updated this app today to sort out the card issue and now I have no menu button and then the screen stopped and won't load. Please sort out the issues asap
This game do not work properly on Samsung S6 Edge Plus. The top of cards it is cuted off when you will play. This make it unplayable. 9.12.2017 An update review. After more than half year I have the same problem on other tel, LG G6. They make a few updates but the cutted card problem it is still unresolved. I do not recommand to buy this game. Also the program give incorrected quick score decision. Google Play please take a stand and resolve that issue. Bad programs should be take it out. It is unexceptable to pay around of 20$ and not to be capable to play even one hand of bridge.
This use to be a great application. The last few updates have resulted in an application that is almost useless. You can no longer see the menu button once a game has been completed which means you can't use the Review feature. The last updated has resulted in large ugly cards of different sizes. I use a Nexus 7. Please advise me how I revert to version 2.47 which worked perfectly.
I've been playing this app for a few years and loved it. Today, 18 Nov 2017, it just updated and it's terrible. Why no way to un update as like my other apps? It doesn't reverse all the hands, so that dummy is always opposite me.
Often cheats when presenting the results from the other table in duplicate mode. The biggest problem is that, in Android 7, the app cuts off the upper half of the cards played by the opponents. Also, it no longer provides an option for skipping a hand before bidding is completed. I have sent a message to Great Game Products about this, but they have not responded.
Used to be nice app, now unusable. Settings disappear, but worse than that, it closes all the time, won't stay open long enough to play. I don't know why companies take a great product and wreck it with upgrades that don't work.
Glad to see some effort to make this app work properly again. Two problems that I see: 1) it is not possible to bring up the submenu on my phone (e.g. in order to skip the deal) 2) the app is not eligible for the family library unless bought recently, so my wife cannot use it.
The worst customer service I have ever experienced. I tried repeatedly, by phone and email, to get assistance when an update caused the program to stop working properly. I would like my money back.
Card sizes variable, app very difficult to use. Older versions were far better and would have received 4/5 star rating
Great app but I'm not sure it's installed properly. I can't seem to access the detailed convention card? Other people seem to have an edit button which I'm missing.
I strongly do not recommend it. It does not function properly. The top half of the E and W cards are cut off and I can't tell what card is played.
Down loaded and paid last night. Cannot see the oppositions cards when they have been played so you do not know what card to play to win the trick. VERY DISAPPOINTED. How do you update when I do not have an update button?
Disappointed in this app. For $20 I expected far more. Once you get to the game the only way to get back to the menu page is to close the app, wait a bit and then re-open. Even my back key on my Samsung tablet doesn't work. No way of add/deleting conventions or even to know what conventions are used as the default. Actually as a beginner I have not found this useful at all and wish I had saved my money
UPDATE Aug 3, 2017: Version 2.47.26: They finally updated the game to fix card cutoffs in gameplay. Unfortunately, I still have card cutoffs and now the menu button has disappeared. The game is currently unusable. UPDATE Jul 9, 2013: I'm conflicted. The AI is clearly excellent. However, the lack of selectable conventions, a convention card, the force closes, mediocre interface, etc. make it hard to justify the price tag. The devs added online gameplay, but that should have been addressed after all the aforementioned issues. UPDATE Apr 4, 2013: The devs made a minor update so that the game is playable on the tablet. All they did was increase the size of screen elements so they don't require a microscope when using a tablet. They made no fundamental change to the primitive UI or the gameplay. UPDATE Feb 11, 2013: It looks like development of this app has been abandoned. Buyer beware. Nov 08, 2012: $20 is way too much for this app, but I bought it anyway. This is unplayable on the Nexus 7. I only play this on my phone. For the amount paid, I'm really disappointed with the force closes, lack of updates, and the crappy interface. Come on devs! I will say that the bidding and gameplay engines are superb.
After a hand, if you swipe to the right, the controls go away never to return. Must kill the game and start a new one
The shading on the cards and buttons during bidding makes it virtually unreadable. This was an unnecessary change that just makes this app so much worse. There was nothing wrong with it before, so why screw it up?
I used to play this on an iPhone and it was great When I purchased a Samsung S5 android phone I found Bridge Baron did not have the menu button that shown on the iPhone version of the app but I could access the menu by holding my finger on the left hand side of the home button for a couple of seconds. I have now upgraded to an Samsung S8 that has a soft home button, but cannot access the menu which normally gives review and settings options because the menu button does not exist and their does not seem to be any other way of bringing up a menu. So be aware that this app does not work fully on all smartphones.
I have been playing this game for a few years now. The last few updates have been useless, if you don't have a phone with a menu button.
Latest version has strange card sizes and no access to menu. Updates are a continual disaster of new bugs.
I really want to like the app. Maybe because I paid a significant amount for it. But it is not working well on my HTC10. The issues are 1) it looks like you can 'click' the bids but doesn't give you what they mean. 2) undo seems to go back multiple plays and not just the last played card. 3) cannot access a menu without quitting the app. 4) it would be nice if it explained suggested plays. It would also be interesting to see how the "other" hand played out. It does play well and has been good to learn play. Edit 2017-12-17 This game is now non functional. The cards only show the bottom half so there is no way to play this game since you have no clue what cards are being played. Also, rotating the screen causes both yours and partner's hand to dissappear.
Game has been broken for a few years, E - W cards are cut off, this app supplier should be suspended for selling a broken app
Used to work ok, controls cramped and can be off screen. Exit is very tricky. Plays ok, but can be a bit weird in acol.
Glitch in android display reported by me in August still remains outstanding rendering product unusable.
Many, many bugs. The unstable application.
Not able to install this on a desktop PC
I have the latest version running on Moto x phone and still have no menus. I can't see where they should be either as the illustrations on play store are from version 2.0. update 23rd June: moto X has soft buttons so no physical menu button. It has triangle circle and square. None of these give the menu. How do I access? Update 4th July: still no way to access menu
Great Bridge playing, lots of options, and the claim feature is usually pretty accurate. Best bridge app I've used. Update July 4, 2017: reducing my rating...app no longer responds to the back button, and there's no way to access to the in-app menus. This means no skip hand function, interpreting bidding, or accessing the app's settings. Developers seem to know of this issue, perhaps they have an estimate on when it will be fixed? Galaxy s8
App is barely usable. For example, if you hit "quick score" you can't review duplicate play, and if you hit "score" you have to watch the whole auction and play at high speed, without being able to go back at your own pace. Very frustrating. Can't believe I paid $20. Based on reviews it looks like this app used to be good...
I'm not keen on the new layout - the card faces are too small. Also if I inadvertently tap the screen after playing a game the pop-up result disappears and I have to close the app and start again. That pop-up screen seems to have parts of other screens which don't do anything! I would like the menu to show at all parts of a game as I can't access explanations. Disappointed in this new version.
New version is terrible! You can't skip dull hands except at the end of bidding and when the score card comes up it covers the hands so you can't look at how you might have played the hand differently. More problems - the cards have become miniscule - can't see them properly at all. Also, how do I find settings - it seems to have disappeared. The app is now TOTALLY unusable!
Android update is a mess. Loss of menu. Poor visuals. Limited customization in Android (iPhone app lets you choose conventions). However it plays relatively well compared to some others.
I'm reducing my rating for the app. At the moment it's just unusable. Frequent crashes completely spoil the experience of the otherwise awesome bridge application. Issues: - dialogue windows dissapearing with no way to get them back - requires restart - no option to interpret bidding in progress (taken away in July) - spoils learning experience - random "crash, restart required" - hand dissapears on orientation changes
The latest update ruined a very nice app. Could not see bidding clearly as extra graphic hid sone bids. Partner did crazy bids for slams impossible to make. Have unintelligible it today.
This was once an 'ok' app. When 2.47.14 came controls were missing, the bid pad looked terrible, and you could not do common things like claiming. I am now at 2.47.23 and it's still junk. It's been over two months, and despite promises to fix things, they have not. Not happy. At all.
Update from 29/06/17 didn't correct the issue of half cards showing on East/West hands. LG G5, android 7.0
Latest update has lost all control, cannot see all bids, graphic very bad on samsung tab 10
2.47.23 fixed the half card issue but at the cost sacrificing usability. The size of the cards is tiny. Now definitely need reading glasses to use.
Recent releases have made this game nearly impossible to use. Controls have become endlessly frustrating.
I think this is a fairly good bridge app. However, there are a bunch of features that I think are missing if you're looking to play against the AI. 1) It offers you different levels of bidding systems (SAYC Basic, SAYC Intermediate, SAYC Advanced) but doesn't tell you what the differences are. There's no list of what Intermediate or Advanced introduces. 2) There's no way to choose the conventions you want to use or not use. 3) The "interpret" feature is buggy and often wrong.

I have to agree with recent reviewers after checking on the newest iteration of the app. It seems to play decently enough but on my Fusion5 tablet the cards look cut off and there are no control options. At least I can still exit using the Android back button. Too bad, considering the price. Will try another one and hope this one eventually gets fixed.
