What are users saying about Twisty

Q70%
by Q####:

There is no menu button, and the app returns to the home screen immediately trying to bring up the menu by pressing and holding the back key. Also does not register the menu option while pinned to screen. Please fix.

O70%
by O####:

Definitely needs an update, considering it hasn't been in 7 years, the pictures look like gingerbread or earlier, and basic features like swiping keyboard and clicking to open keyboard are missing. An update would be great

Q70%
by Q####:

I have used this before and liked it, but my S6 does not have a menu button so I cannot get past the welcome screen. The last update was in 2010 so I yhink it has been abandoned.

by J####:

No menu key on new phone. I have been using this app for years. I freaking love it. But now I have no menu key to press and there isn't an alternative way to get in. If we can't work this out I just might die. Pleeeeeaaaaaasssseee don't let me die!

Z70%
by Z####:

Really? Without hardware menu button it is impossible to go past the first text screen... What a shame!

Z70%
by Z####:

I played this all the time on my last Android phone. There's no hard menu key on the new Samsung Galaxy edge, and this app does not respond to any of the workarounds. So I'm stuck on the welcome for all time.

H70%
by H####:

I really enjoyed this app on my old phone. However, I now have a Samsung Note 5, which does not have a menu button. Ive tried several work arounds with no success. Please update so that it can be used without a menu button.

X70%
by X####:

Seems pretty good so far, but the on screen keyboard covers half the text in landscape mode, which is a serious flaw given my preferred mode of operation. Also seems to fail to register pressing backspace on the Swype keyboard outside of the text prompt.

X70%
by X####:

It keeps processing really slowly on my phone (LG g3) especially with zork. The text takes a long time to catch up with what I type. not a problem I have with any other apps, please fix.

Q70%
by Q####:

Just what is was looking for, basic text adventure pure and simple, no fancy icons cluttering the screen. It use SwiftKey keyboard with no problems. Dropped 1 star because I'm can't adjust the font size.

X70%
by X####:

Works mostly fine. Impossible to load extra games - fails to find any even though I've got heaps on my SD card in .z5 format

O70%
by O####:

It's great for the first few lines then it slows typing down to a snail's pace and it takes forever just to type one word? Going to try another app that lets you play these games since this is not the only one! ! Uninstalled!

O70%
by O####:

I would love to get this thing working and play zork! However this phone doesnt have a hard menu key and therefore this app simply doesnt function. Too bad- I will change this review as soon as it does! I was really hoping to get to play zork too....

X70%
by X####:

It's a nice setup but needs updating desperately. After a few lines, it starts to process painfully slowly. Nexus 7

X70%
by X####:

I love these games and the opportunity to play them, however the response time is super slow. Makes game play tedious.

H70%
by H####:

Looking forward to this retro adventure. Alas it was not compatible.

X70%
by X####:

just to correct something in an earlier review I read. This app does support other keyboards. Does work with swift key anyway on the Samsung Galaxy S3 with swiftkey. Love the startup text when the app first starts up. Anyone know what versions of text files this app supports? Anywhere to download in quantity tons of the older games?

H70%
by H####:

For no reason the input when you type is really slow. Being a text adventure game, you might see how this could get annoying

X70%
by X####:

Few fc problems on s2. Would be 5 stars if this is fixed..

X70%
by X####:

App works on razr xt910. Saving and loading work. Landscape mode covers some txt... keyboards don't work as native apps do which caused issues.

C70%
by C####:

This thing's cool, but it keeps force closing on me at random! Every time I make progress, I lose it all! Samsung epic.

X70%
by X####:

Works great on galaxy s2. Follow link in description for all games including Zork. Takes 1 minute so quit bitching.

Love it! Recommended for any1 looking to play the classics. Had to choose between Twisty and aDOSBox though *cry* hardest choice ever.

M70%
by M####:

Game begins to lag like crazy after first few minutes of play....it gets to the point where you don't want to play any longer. It's a great idea, but it shouldn't be this bad considering these games were played on some extremely old technology...If this is fixed I would rate higher....

M70%
by M####:

I loved this app when I could actually use it, new phone has no menu button so I can't even get into it now.

X70%
by X####:

On the Samsung Note 5, there is no way to raise the program menu, so the app is useless on my phone.

M70%
by M####:

But it takes more and more time to respond with each command, possibly only on Violet (please fix!!)

C70%
by C####:

Enter command then press Enter z z z z z z z z z z z z z z So much time passes that you eventually fall asleep with boredom while waiting for the next section of text to come up on this horrendously laggy app.

C70%
by C####:

Would think it wouldn't have a problem. Is almost impossible to play...sadly.

C70%
by C####:

...but I can't do anything after opening it because my phone doesn't have a dedicated menu button.

L70%
by L####:

Great idea but after playing for few minutes it begins to lag like crazy, i can only imagine how bad it is on a slower phone. Mine is a LG G2 so shouldnt lag at all. If fixed ( figure its some sort of memory leak ) i'll rate it higher

I never thought I would ever see the old text games again, then here comes this Twisty emulator with four games plus the ability to download more! This is taking me back to my high school years in the early 80's & all of the excellent fun I had playing text games on my Commodore 64 & VIC-20! LOVE IT! The bugs are okay because the game is playable, but I encountered no big problems, anyway. Just typing delay issues. The developers of this emulator are forever in my gratitude. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

Love that someone made this and it is free. Crashes when opening some homebrew games (z5, z8) made on INFORM. Love the ui

Keyboard appears but program doesn't register any text entry. Toggle keyboard does nothing.

Interactive fiction? Not if you can't interact with the game. Please fix!... Droid Bionic

C70%

Loved the idea of this app because these games were a big part of my childhood, but I found it virtually unplayable. Poor text entry system, constant crashing, kept playing the same few, starting steps over and over.

U70%
by U####:

Used to work well but seems to be incompatible with newer phones, app lags and hangs

U70%
by U####:

This is just so so due to lack of any adjustable options. On a 10" tablet you're looking at this tiny little text. Jfrotz on the other hand allows you to adjust text font and size as well as text and backgound colors. This allows you to play Z file infocom games just as they looked in their original iterations on an Apple II monochrome crt monitor. I highly recommend Jfrotz over Twisty.

Tried last year, hoped it had improved but unfortunately not. Must support Swype / Apps2SD.

Love it. Font is small, though. Would like to see an option to up the size for the sake of my eyesight. HTC Status.
