About Neural Sandbox Beta

Create, customize, and battle your own neural network AI! Note: This game is still in beta and is being actively developed and improved!

Whether it's predicting the stock market, driving a car, or beating the best Go player in the world, there's no doubt that neural networks are the hot new topic in AI. Their inspiration comes from the human brain, and they have the remarkable ability to learn how to overcome even the most traditionally complex tasks for a computer on their own.

Perhaps their greatest drawback is how difficult they can be to set up or play around with for yourself. The Neural Sandbox is here to change this! Enter a small cellular world where you play god, and can create and customize neural net controlled creatures for yourself. Train neural nets as you see fit just by hitting a button, no programming required! From there you can test it out in the cell world, and even control a cell in the world yourself.

This game is in beta, so there are still many features to be added. If you have any ideas or suggestions, we'd love to hear them!

More information about neural nets and how they work in this game:

A neural net is a mathematical model inspired by the biological brain. Each one is essentially a web of interconnected neurons, which take in input, modify it and then send out an output to the next neuron. In a large neural net, this can lead to some pretty complex decision making! The neural net cells in this game take in inputs as information such as position and velocity from nearby cells and output a direction for themselves to move. In the training window, thousands of rounds of the game are simulated so that the neural net can "practice" and learn how to play the game based on your specifications for its personality.

Well.. I still have problem that still hadn't fixed. Every time I try a team worker, it take aLOT of generations to make the cell actually work, so I leave it, thinking that I will get back to that after a hour. But I forget, and tje app overload and crash because of.. to much "thinking"? I dont know. So my suggestion, is to add a stopping point, where you can say: 500 and leave, and when it gets to 500, it will stop and pause.

Everything was great. Add a multi player mode!

Very interesting even at the beginning. I haven't tinkered around with the neural net settings yet but it is very fun. What I think is the coolest thing to do is to fill the map with hiders, then add a pre made neural net cell until it just explodes on your screen. Great game. I hope there is a magnification option in the future.

Z70%
by Z####:

It seems interesting. Though, I'm not entirely sure what all can be/is supposed be accomplished however. A strange thing happened when I played through simulation that seems noteworthy. It got to where there were only hider cells. They multiplied over and over until suddenly, one started colliding with others and eventually absorbed them all. The whole screen then went orange.

Whats with the flashing green? Also, it doesn't seem to be formatted to my screen size, which i suspect is why it flashes green. Overall, i like it, and hope the graphical glitches get fixed soon

T70%

Interesting concept with lots of potential. Currently not very impressive, but definitely fun to play around with. I'd love to see more.

T70%
by T####:

Very great game only thing that could be added is customizing how much your net will split apart

D70%

Crashes every 20 seconds after starting neural training

T70%

Hate it... What the hell where r the controls.... Hell game

J70%
by J####:

Interesting concept. :)

H70%

Boring

T70%
by T####:

It's a good introduction to neural networks via direct interaction. It could be more complex, which I'm sure will happen in subsequent updates. Overall, I am impressed with the simulator and would recommend it to those who want a challenge (design a superior organism) as well as those interested in neural networks. To the developer, I would greatly appreciate more variables to play with (for cell behavior). Give it a download!

Awesome app... Keep it up. But could use some work

H70%
by H####:

Really good idea. The fact that you did it all (or at least mostly) on your own is also impressive. Obviously it's not perfect but it's still in beta so I wouldn't really expect too much. Can't wait to see how it develops.

T70%
by T####:

It's fine but I experienced major slowdown after training a network long enough with the app running in the background. Like, 0.4 fps.

T70%
by T####:

The developer is open for suggestions and quick to respond. Also has a steady update flow.

T70%
by T####:

Really fantastic idea, I'm excited to see where this goes.

T70%

Not fun

T70%
by T####:

Interesting concept, represents a neural network well. I just wish there was more than a number / graph to show the progress and gameplay gets somewhat boring quickly.

T70%
by T####:

Interesting concept but user interface needs to be reevaluated along with instructions on how to play

H70%
by H####:

Cool idea

T70%

Based potential, ad free and doesn't even harass me for permissions. A good toilet time killer

T70%

This is such a cool idea! Can't wait to see what comes next

L70%

Very entertaining, good game to pass the time. Great amount of potential!

T70%

Silly and pointless - just because you say neural net doesn't make it one lol

K70%

It's cool, I am looking forward to its progression

Mabye work on the words, they don't show up quite right Not fun, but cool

really cool app, looking forward to a full release

This is the game Ive been looking for.

Y70%

Huge amount of potential!

G70%

Really enjoying it

T70%

Worst representation of neural networks I have ever seen. There isn't even any proof you are actually using neural nets. With how simple this is you could easily fake it with a couple if statements. If we had more than one slider to train them with it might be different.

O70%
by O####:

Original though difficult to get the hang of initially. Good way to just kill time.

T70%
by T####:

At most a demo. Obviously rated by friends or even payed for. edit: I judged it as a game, because it was in this section on the playstore. The 4.8 Stars rating it had, promised a fun experience for anyone, not just people who like simulators. It did not deliver. It has a very plain UI and no inherent goal. 2 Stars = Didn't like it. That's fitting.

T70%
by T####:

It's okay I guess, but the control panel can't be access once you close it and the custom Neural button stop working all together.

T70%
by T####:

Very fun way to explain neural nets

T70%
by T####:

Not really much to the "game" of you can call it that.
