2048 by Gabriele Cirulli for Android
I use this version among the many present in Play Store because this is the one made by the original creator of 2048. That said, this game isn't perfect and I am expecting a lot of improvements in future iterations. Some of them include [1] better responsiveness, [2] an option to remove ads or a paid version without ads, [3] an amateur mode with an option to undo the last move and [4] an option to use a dark colour scheme.
This version of the game is terribly unresponsive to my finger swipes...I sometimes have to swipe 4-5 times per move to get any reaction. I could never play the timed version for this reason, but even the untimed version is so frustrating that I resort to playing one of the "copycat" versions which I also installed. No other apps have this issue on my Droid Mini.
Qualche lag ma niente di insopportabile. Suggerimento: col tempo il gioco tende a perdere interesse nella prima fase e si potrebbe consentire a chi ha raggiunto diverse volte (3, 5, 10?) 2048 di ripartire direttamente da lì.
A very small glitch. When your score reaches 10k, the game board does this little shift downwards. And when you hit decimals on your score after hitting 10k it shifts back up. It keeps doing this at every 1k. Other than that it's a flawless addicting game.
Absolutely addictive. Simple yet fun. Slightly laggy. Tiles do not move as fast as my stylus. This has a brief time based version which is different from the others. It's like 2048 on turbo.
I fell in love with this game on the PC and have waiting for an authentic app version. I'll admit, I had one of the knockoffs before, but this one, the original one is best. Small ad banner at the bottom during play and some small bugs (score additions stay hovering over the top of your score) are the only two problems I see and those don't add up to a star reduction. Great, simple to play, and fun.
Nerd to thank Gabrielle for creating the game. But the app is very badly designed. Poor responsiveness and crashes frequently. So will continue to use unofficial app till app becomes smooth
Lets you play 2048. Also lets you experience inexplicably massive battery drain and hiccups in gameplay. Stable, though.
Fun little time waster although every few games you get a bit of lag or bugs up after going past 2048 (can be sorted by going back to menu then continuing the game). Would be nice to have more colours for the 4096 and 8192 tiles instead of just black.
First off, this game is really fun, no matter whether I am playing the original or another accurate clone. But something seems better about the original. I guess that it's both authenticity and the fact that the original game was actually designed and thought out, not just a stolen idea.
Dear Gabriele, I LOVE your game, and I don't want to install none of the 2048's clones out there, but... this original version is buggy (and laggy), the UI response fails very often, causing wrong movements. Please, you need to improve the responsiveness !!! (and speed too, by the way)
Game is slow and unresponsive. I'm playing on a nook hd and the game is so small on my screen. Needs to be redesigned for tablets too.
The current version frequently misreads the direction of my swipes. Sometimes when the score updates it causes the play area to jump up and down, which is detrimental to the enjoyment of an otherwise great game. I'm going to stick to the web version for now.
My rating is for the classic mode. As others have said, the touch responce is too slow for timed mode. Even in classic mode it can mistake swipe direction. Even with all that, still a fun game.
It's sad when the imitations are better then the original... The game lags to hell and beyond, the ads are intrusive and there is so much wasted space on the screen it's stupid. Edit: tried it again almost a year later and it's somehow worse.
I've played this on both my smartphone and tablet, and both have the issue where swipes are recognised incorrectly. I've lost track of the number of times I've ultimately lost a game thanks to these bad swipes. Otherwise, it's functional.
Brilliant and addictive game, but it's very frustrating that there's no ad-free/paid version of the app by the official developer.
This is a really addictive game, but as others have said the touch area needs to be the whole screen. It's really frustrating to swipe near the bottom and have nothing happen.
I love the game, but like others have said, it drains the battery on my Galaxy S3 REALLY quickly. It also sometimes swipes in directions that I didn't swipe and then all of my strategy gets ruined. I would suggest adding a "night mode" setting with a dark background so that it doesn't use as much screen brightness.
It's great that there's an official app now. Unfortunately, the scaling for android tablets (Nexus 7 2013 here) is terrible. Only the top quarter of the screen is used. Apart from that, it's not bad, but having a proper tablet implementation would be fantastic.
The game is great as usual, but when you play it so fast as on the computer, the swipe recognition fails sometime (and you want to throw away your phone). On computer I easily reach 8192, but here it is impossible.
Delay has been fixed quite a bit but it still is slow at times, and sometimes even totally irresposive to touch. The game is playable now though but would be so much better if it didnt. 5 stars if this is fixed. No problem with the classic mode, i even managed to get to the 4096 square :D It's such a shame that others are taking the credit for this awesome game you created, hopefully the tables will turn soon :)
I wanted to like this app. The webpage version is great. But the fingerswipe is a bit sloppy. At least once a game you'll see your tiles go somewhere unexpected. Very frustrating. ED: I have returned to drop a star, for the frustration caused when one of the few mixups takes you from 'poised to sweep the board' and deposits you abruptly in 'game over'.
The game runs slow on my Nexus 7 and Moto G GPe. Also it shows up on a small window on tablets and phones and should be fixed
For some reason it won't respond to any inputs. The menu screen loads but it isn't sensitive. Looking forward to an update to fix this!
Great for passing time and being antisocial at parties. I would rate it higher if the numbers were drawn more sharply. The pixelated images are hard to focus on and look amateurish.
I really love this game, and I want to support the original, but I've got a couple of things holding me back. First, the game doesn't fill the screen on my tablet, and second, swiping is limited to the game board, which is only a problem because of the first item. It also seems to respond slower than some of the clones, but I'd easily overlook that for either the game board size or swiping anywhere on the screen. Fix those and it's 5 stars, all the way!
I love this game. Thank you for creating it. I'm in college and I'm gonna rewrite this game in C++ as a part of my course's final project. And don't worry, I'm gonna give credit where its due. The web app as well as other play store apps are great and flawless. But this app doesn't perform well enough compared to others. It somewhat lags while other apps work just fine. I read your blog and understand that you're not experienced in Android. It's fine. This app is still very good and playable. I mean I just scored 5k+ in my first turn. It just needs to improve over time. Peace!
Game is brilliant. A bit like Rubik's Cube meets sudoku. Very fun to play, and oddly relaxing in a zen sort of way. If you want this one because it's from the original dev, I can confirm that on my LG Volt phone it's absolutely playable with the performance improvements in the latest patch. The battery drain issue may still be trouble for some folks, but there are other games out there far worse than this one in that respect.
I was keen to use the official app as I thought it would be the best. However, the performance is quite slow compared other versions and this version has ads. Also, my battery gets eaten away very fast and my phone is constantly complaining about overheating. It'a still a fresh game though!
So i googled it, and this is it.
It's sad when the imitations are better then the original... The game lags to hell and beyond, the ads are intrusive and there is so much wasted space on the screen it's stupid.
I've not experienced any problems with it, it's a good game to play to make time pass or just for the fun of it.
Developer claims (on his website) that he has "decided against monetizing this game" because it was "a copy of 2 other games". Yet, this app DOES HAVE ADS (HIDDEN ON SCREENSHOTS) and they are very well-thought placed on the most accessible part of the screen: DESING TO PRODUCE 'ACCIDENTAL' AD-CLICKS. Who are you trying to fool here, boychik? Other than that, app eats your battery like an advanced 3D-shooter.
The top 3 alternatives on Google Play are way better. It lacks optimization on responsiveness and large resolutions.
Wonderful game and super addictive but goes through your battery like a frat boy goes through miller lite.
Very good, and I dont see why all the people telling the game is not smooth, have a perfect response on my Nexus 7 (first gen)
Sometimes it takes too many times to swipe for a move and then sometimes it makes too many moves when I swipe. It is especially frustrating when it won't swipe during the time trial mode
The game is to play but very unresponsive on my nexus 5. Perhaps this is device specific but it takes away from the game. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I LOVE 2048, as a CS major and a math minor this game has got my number. The app performance in the time trial mode is lacking though. Several times the board has filled up while not reacting to multiple swipes. Better performance makes this a 5 star app! UPDATE: Recent update to app has improved performance in the time trial mode enough to get 4 stars. Still not quite as responsive as it needs to be to get 5 stars.
