English Afrikaans Kids Game for Android
The entire game is played in both English and Afrikaans simultaneously. Children can hear and read what Owen says/asks in both languages, resulting in their becoming comfortable with their second language.
The object of the game is to move from level one (Cape Town) through all ten levels to level ten (Namaqualand) and back home. At the start, players will be asked to register as an English player or an Afrikaans player. If English is selected, the player will hear and read all questions in English and Afrikaans, but will type the given Afrikaans answer into the keyboard provided. It works vice-versa for Afrikaans players (who will answer in English). Please be sure to read and hear the instructions which are provided at the start, once the player has selected their language preference.
Players are rewarded with points per minigame (four minigames per level) and an overall star rating per level. Only on completing each level will the player be able to move to the next level (city/adventure).
This game has been designed to help South African children with their second languages. For those who live with English as their mother tongue, it helps them to feel at ease with the Afrikaans language and, again, vice-versa for Afrikaans speakers.
The game has been designed for children aged 6 to 12, but is not limited to any age group. Adults who would like to better understand their second languages can obviously play, too!
At the end of the game, players can link to the Owen's Adventures website and download their certificate of achievement.
Note: Internet connection required. For those playing on smaller smartphones, it is advised that they use a Stylus Pen to key-in the answers.
Although the game has been adjusted to suit 512MB devices, a 1GB device or up is recommended. Should 512MB device players experience issues, please contact us via our website or given email address and we will assist. All issues are easy to resolve and none will inhibit gameplay permanently.
We sincerely hope you will enjoy Owen's Adventures!
Please don't hesitate to contact us with any queries.
Have fun!

This is a useful educational app for building a child's familiarity with their second language. I'm 21 years old and I had no idea what a branderplank was until now.
A great educational yet fun game, have not seen anything like it before. Makes learning fun and holds my son's attention well.
