Elder Sign: Omens for Android
Love the theme. Great in-game ambiance. A bit of strategy on picking teams. Where it lets down is that it's almost impossible to win. Getting the right signs is pure luck and you'll go entire missions without getting the necessary ones to defeat the tasks.
This is not a game for people who enjoy easy, thoughtless games. It's challenging, it requires strategy, and players should expect to lose more often than they win -- a lot more, even on the easier levels. Even when it's frustrating I enjoy it, and I've been playing regularly since I bought it, even though I've beaten every scenario. I recommend it, but only if you enjoy a challenging game experience.
Complete random dumb luck with zero tactics or strategy. Save yourself the money by just seting an arbitrary heads/tails pattern, flipping a coin 8 times, and seeing if you watched it in order. There's the exact amount of thought and you're really likely to win.
I don't even know what I'm supposed to be doing in this game. I've read and re-read the help section and I still have no idea what the point of the game is. Why do I have these items that don't seem to influence anything? The story, the whole reason I bought the game, is non-existent. I'm not an idiot, but I've never been so stumped by a mobile game. What to the glyphs mean? I spend the whole time just picking random locations and just spinning the book pages, never getting the symbols I need, and losing every time. Rigged slot machines have better payouts than this. What's the point of having different locations if everything is exactly the same when you go there. I'm completely baffled by people that say this game is easy. It shouldn't be so frustrating just to try to learn the basics of a phone game, especially one I paid for.
Really wanted to love this. Not possible when the glyph results NEVER EVER produce glyphs to complete even 1 task on easy level. Help files worse useless on the matter as well. So disappointed.
You can beat everything easily with just Joe Diamond. He's by far the best character. Buy some clues, win some easy clues through missions. Seal away Cthulhu himself no problem just send one guy. You think a bigger team would cover more ground? You're a fool! More people means you have no time to buy stuff before midnight because 6 hours pass everytime anybody does anything! BUY CLUES! The old ones laugh at you! Just send THE man, the unstoppable, Joe Diamond!
Been playing this version on my phone and tablet for years. Very amusing to see other reviewers complain about not getting the right dice rolls and losing all the time. You have to use strategy from the very start and even knowing what to do you will often lose; that's the nature of the game. Saw one reviewer gripe that the dice rolls were random...kinda the point of dice. This is a really fantastic version of a great game. Don't buy it if you're impatient, unwilling to learn, and can't stand not winning every time. If you can stomach playing something that can present a challenge this is highly recommended.
Game is great but I give a 2 out of 5 because the game failed completely to smoothly introduce the rules which explain the frustration of many people. All point of mobile or computer version is to help player to get on board. You have to read the rules without context or watch YouTube video to understand a little. And that comes from someone that played Arkham Horror!!!
I understand the frustration of players who rated the game low because of bad luck with the rolls. Let us not forget though that this is a game based on the Lovecraftian universe. It is common to suffer and spiral down to madness (rage quit) because the game is designed that way. It's either you learn how to use every trick available or give up. It keeps getting more understandable and manageable the more you play. Suffering is half the fun.
If you think the game is unwinnable or too random, you're not playing it right. It's difficult, but completely playable and winnable with tactics and forethought. The art is fantastic and the depth of the game is unbelievable. My only drawback is that it is very difficult to understand what to do at first.
Game plays slightly different from the board game. Great adaption. Want a Yog-Sothoth campaign. If players are having trouble in the game, I suggest they try different investigators. Some are better against different Elder Gods than others and in the campaigns your investigator picks can doom you from the start. SO CHOOSE WISELY! That being said, there are also some you should never take into a campaign. But half the fun is figuring out which ones you need to be successful. I,ve beaten every campaign. They all will take multiple attempts to win. Good luck fighting the Old Ones. :-)
This is why I hate mobile ports. Just go buy the dice game it is better than dealing with their "streamlined" play. Okay I understand having a Ancient One encounter is tough (no ot isn't these t**** don't know how to code) but removing a feature from Dark Pharroh the Allies and calling it "increasing the challenge" is a sign of something they are horrified of. I regret giving them money for this.
I brought this game in 2012, I'm still playing it in 2017, no micro transactions, there are expansions, but once you purchase them they are yours. This is one of my favorite games, feels like a table top game, and if your a fan of the lovecraft universe, this is a no brainier, easy controls, rules and objectives are easy to understand, but there is a small curve at the beginning, actual gameplay is challenging, rolls can be brutal, but if you really think about your team and have people in the right places there is nothing game breaking. This is a thinking game. It's also a fun pass and play game because it's based around teamwork. Highly recommended, near flawless if you like slower paced atmospheric games. Call of Duty or Halo this ain't.
It seems like it would be just a game of luck, but after a while you start to really improve. Very well done.
It's a good game. I suggest having played the board game first to help you understand this one, as it can be very confusing at first. I think a tutorial wouldn't hurt.
This is the most bullsh!t game I've ever played. Glyphs completely random and most definitely NOT in your favor in any way. Have yet to win on easy mode even using all investigators. Can't believe I paid for this garbage game.
Glitches, please fix. On Chuthulu, i Got all the way to Rlyeh with the completed amulet, yet spells and clues were still locked. Very frustrating to play thru whole game, do well, but then get hosed at the end because of a software glitch.
Great mobile version! It controls well, the difficulty is there but perfectly manageable. Tons of fun!
Game is insanely hard compared to board game version. Computer cheats on dice rolls. I don't mind a challenge, but losing 19 out of 20 games is total BS. Uninstalled..
Really needs UNDO in a couple places. Lately my saved games are corrupted about 1/2 the time.
can't win..played any mode even easy, I'm not an idiot but this RNG hates me..
Does not open. Crashes on startup, trying to download resources. No fix for weeks.
Horribly unbalanced, one bad mission and you are screwed.
Once you figure out the control's it's a great game. Yes you'll lose a lot but, it's supposed to be that way. Still when you do win. It awesome!
There seems to be a bug preventing me from using cards to get extra dice ever.
Husband got me addicted!
Why is Norton's reporting this as Malware?
Too hard, the RNG is agaisnt you all the time!
I have had this game on my phone for years now. It's fun, beautiful, and lovecraftian!
Fun game when you don't have the board version with you.
Not really worth the money ...
I like it so much that I buy it on both iOS and Android.
A near perfect port of the card and dice game. Crazy challenging but rewarding and fun.
Esteemed developers, please make more missions!
Superb conversion of the boardgame to the small screen.
Very challenging and fun.
Love this game!
Awesome!!!
So at first it seems that the is entirely dictated by the dice. With time though you can find that such is not the case and very deep game presents itself. Luck is a big part yes. But there are many ways to make your own luck. A few tips. Count the dice, see how many tasks there are to complete and see if you have enough dice. Learn how items work. They van give you red and yellow dice, reroll dices and what not. Agents skill matters, try to find synergies. Portals are great with rewards. Think before actin

I've always like this game, but the new updates combine to make it one of the best casual strategy games on the platform. Now you can choose the monster you go up against (which means you actually have a chance of winning!) and the new bug fixes make the game significantly more fluid and peppy to play. Very good indeed.
