Scavenge, fight, hack, and trade your way through a ruined world.

Features:
- A branching storyline; make crucial choices and live with the consequences.
- Conditional choices, where your options may depend on the items in your inventory, your health or mental state, previously visited locations, your reputation with other characters, or even your wealth!
- A card-based fighting mini-game.
- A mini-game for hacking electronic locks.
- A mini-game where you scavenge for precious goods.
- Vendors to buy and sell.
- A decryption mini-game to decode secret records.
- An inventory of consumables and quest items for you to manage.

Suitable for adults and young adults alike, the book uses clean language throughout and contains mild fictional violence in the form of a card game.  Although a standalone story, 'The Eighth Continent' is the first book of a trilogy; books two and three are already written, and will be released as apps soon.

The app is designed for both phones and tablets, and works in both landscape and portrait orientations.

(This is an ad-supported version of the paid app 'The Eighth Continent'.)

This game story is by far the best out there. The story and how it plays out is unique. The way the graphics appear in a sort of water color way add to the story instead of distracting from it. The controls are easy and the way they've used mini games to tie into the main game is fun and actually matters and alters your game slightly. It requires no permissions at least on my phone and has very little ads. Shockingly little amount of ads. It's addictive for sure and everyone should check it out. It's nice to have such a great game that lets us make so many different choices too.

I love this game. I used to play the 'choose your own adventure' books as a kid and this brings back happy memories. I think the eighth continent is better written than the old books though. One thing I find frustrating is not knowing how to get all the achievements. I've played over and over and there are still some I can't get. I wish there was a walkthrough for achievements. I'm currently playing yet again and trying to do a walkthrough at the same time so I can see where I'm missing things. I could do with more 'save' slots - one for each chapter would be nice. Great app though. Can't wait for part 3.

This game is well written, has likeable characters, and high replay value. I enjoyed the inclusion of the minigames to break up the text and offer a different element to the CYOA genre. (For anyone who dislikes or has trouble with the minigames, you can chose to skip them in your settings.) I would highly recommend this game and look forward to playing the second game.

Changed my opinion!! I was never a fan of text games..but This game is based on post Apocalypse story, that got me...and must say...i am hooked to it. Although this game is perfect in its category and for people who are not bored by reading, It would make a great 3d game..Anyways thanks for this amazing game!

For the longest time I've said "why can't text adventure games have sound effects and pictures in them", and then I finally found a game to meet my taste! Most text adventure games are just white text on black backgrounds...very very boring! This one has a brilliant UI, stunning graphics and fonts to match. Without question, I'm sure a lot of time and effort were incorporated into this gem. Great job all around developers/graphic designers! :)

This game really went beyond my expectations! I always loved text-adventure games, but this is the first time I get to enjoy sound effects! They're so detailed, especially in the mini games I can't even let go of the story before I finished it. But, seriously, I can't get to save my achievements after I start a new game? And, like one of the comments has stated, please make a list of replayable chapters instead of having to start the whole story all over again. I'm itching for not knowing what I'd missed.

I enjoyed both Magium and the 8th continent. They are written from a completely different angle and the 8th continent comes off as the older brother. The 8th continent is better written and has a more compelling story. I would give the edge to Magium in the unpredictability of the choices you make and character development. Great read, strongly recommended, will be moving on to the second installment.

I've played several interactive reading games and this is BY FAR the best. Captivating story, beautifully written, I mean, you really can't compare this descriptive masterpiece to others. I can't get over how talented the writer is. You'd have to read the story to know what I mean. This isn't high-school writing, that's for sure. The other interactive stories I've played use plain, almost dull, language in their work, but this is colorful artwork! The little games and stuff throughout are also a nice perk

Many points in the game, it railroads you when there is absolutely no reason why you SHOULDN'T be able to do something. Some parts there's even only one option. Why even have an 'option' if it's only 1 choice? Also, you should ALWAYS give a fight option. If I want to be a murderhobo that's MY choice, not the dev's choice. If you wanna force your story, write a book, instead. Bad game. Would say 0 stars but was free so 1 star.

N70%
by N####:

This is a really nice game, so many choices. The overall is fantastic. The only problem I've had would be with the mini games. Sometimes, while searching, the controls mix up and will swipe an item instead of tapping or vice verse. Also, when fighting, what is written may not be what you get. One example: when fighting an earwig, the "throw brick" card says "keep well away; avoid all damage" but you instead take full damage (in my case 10 health). Otherwise, really wonderful.

C70%
by C####:

This game deserves awards, accolades, and it's free. The writing, dialogue, plot, and healthy share of aptly placed mini-games make it relaxing and yet very intense to play. This game is so far above and beyond so much of the slapped together trash out there in the phone/mobile device market...and most of those garbage games just feel like they are slapped together by people trying to take your cash. This game is the opposite...it feels wholesome, created by someone who just wants you to enjoy a good story.

Omg I'm so in love! This mixed so many of my favorite things it's insane!! Sci-fi, puzzles, choose-your-own-ending, beautiful graphics and animation and sounds, actual reading with great descriptions, and even though there were some gross parts, so family-friendly and family-centered! Thank you so much for this game!!

I really loved this game/book/adventure. My only complaint was that some of the ads seemed inappropriate for the target audience of the app. The app itself was lovely, interesting, and fun. I can't wait to begin The Eighth Continent 2 :)

When I first started to read this is I was like "Why don't they have guns? Why is it always fist fighting?" Then I realised it's in England and if you have a gun there you're either a police officer or a criminal.

This is in dire need of some kind of publication. But I fear it would only diminish the RPG fork in the road play style. You, sir, have gifted me a masterpiece. I haven't put this down for the past day and a half. I find myself going to it at regular intervals at work when no one is around, just to glimpse the wonderfully gloomy imagery. The gritty, harsh reality is depicted in a light of comradery with the constant nagging of the possibility of being alone. Truly a great series.

Awesome game. Initially it was kind of boring. But as the game proceeds it keeps on getting more interesting . I liked the mini games and also the game helped me in learning new english words. Oh there is so much paraphernalia :v in game to collect

Honestly a great story line characters you can relate to, outcomes depending on how good you do in the mini games, definitly deserves a go. Would recommend. Same goes with book 2 and (hopefully) book 3 when it comes out.

Love this story. The art, subtle sound effects, and beautifully crafted story and mechanics are absolutely marvelous. I can't take myself away from continuing this story. A few minor things could be tweaked, like amount of Mental damage taken by certain events, but otherwise, a perfect game.

C70%
by C####:

Loved how my choices actually seemed to affect the progress of the game, unlike some other games of this category. The story has many beautiful words, so the story as a whole is pretty exciting too. What I'd appreciate is a few covert hints now and then from a character/the narrator about what manner of choices would be more mentally/physically tiring, because sometimes they seem to contradict earlier decisions. The end totally has me hanging- I'm definitely playing/reading the other two parts!

C70%
by C####:

I'm typically not one for test-based games, but the clever use of mini-games, ciphered journal entries, and power and mental stability levels that cannot go below 0 kept me entertained. I have played this game in one sitting and in general, have played it twice from start to finish already. The ending, as others have mentioned, is a tad abrupt as I did not know this game was a part of a series until after I had finished playing the game. Regardless, I look forward to playing the second part of this game series!

I am so happy to have come across this! This is the best interactive game..No insanely complicated puzzles, undue extortive pricing, no ads. Cherry-it is FREE! My sincere best wishes to the team behind this. ????????

And 10 times far better than Magium. It perfectly fits for all range of ages. Nice writings, nice fonts selection (make it bigger maybe?) Very neat and creative interface. I really love the weather effects and pictures highlighted in it. Anyone who enjoys reading should read this and the eight continent 2.

Wonderful game. Choices you make have consequences, sometimes immediate sometimes way down the road. Great story and fun playing. Challenging enough without being so hard I gave up in disgust.

For the very young... I cant imagine anyone above the age of 12 reading this without getting bored or seeing all the obvious plots and twists. It could use an editor. Kids will enjoy it.

This was a really fun and engaging game! The story was very well written and engrossing. The mini-games were pretty good - not too many, not too difficult, etc. They're a bit repetitive, but I personally didn't find that that detracted from the experience all that much. The combat system here was easy to understand and just challenging enough to not be boring. Overall, this was a lot of fun, and I hope there'll more of the story soon!

N70%

The story seems interesting but the vocabulary is unnecessarily difficult an it's getting tiring. I hope native speakers don't have the same problem as me.

C70%
by C####:

The gameplay is unnecessarily tedious, with battles barely turning out in your favor despite reading and trying to use your best cards. There's no easy way to reverse a bad decision, no check point to return to unless killed

C70%

Fabulous game and story! It can be occasionally confusing as it's clearly written with more british-english dialect and rarely it might not explain just how large things are very well but those minor things by NO means stopped me from loving this game! The reason I'm giving it four stars and not five is because the in-gane achievements weren't connected to the Google Play achievement system, which I enjoy. Can't wait to download and play the next one!

This is the best CYOA book I've read since Lone Wolf Saga. Everything else either isn't interesting or becomes unplayable without paying up. I also love the fact we can ignore all the mini games, because I honestly hate it when they interrupt my reading. However, I think it would be great if this had a "night mode", black background with white text. Now I have to play the sequel...

Absolutely the best game I've played in a long time! The style initially made me wary but the storyline and gameplay is too intense to miss out!

Very enthralling. Didn't want it to stop. Also, it lasted far longer than I expected which was a good thing. A lot of work went into this. Well done to the creators.

Definitely a very good interactive game! Although the save system doesnt work properly and the story gets a bit slow throughout times the music and the minigames are definitely something to try out! Fun game.

A bit slow moving, but great besides that. The minigames are a great addition! Controls in the match three style one are a bit unreliable in my experience, but that might just be my phone or something. Story is thoroughly enjoyable and I liked the characters. Really nice how you're left to choose the gender of your character, being given a neutral name and no s/he, at least as far as I've gotten. Combat is great too, especially for a game of this nature. My only qualm would be that, especially in the beginning, the vocabulary and word choices are downright annoying; you're bombarded with what seems like the author's entire vocabulary, and some words are unnecessarily lengthy, 'out there', or seem to have been purposely picked in order to say "look! I know fancy words!". It disrupts the flow of the writing in places. Many famous authors encourage against this vehemently, but I'm not an English teacher or whatever so my opinion on that doesn't matter that much. I'll definitely play the sequel and would recommend, you can tell there's been a lot of effort and care put into the game.

Great game! I was really surprised to find such an intriguing story in a free app, and I finished the whole thing in one go. In the next update I would like to see a list of achievements (instead of having to wait until the end) and an option to re-read the chapters to figure out which choices are better for the mind, body, etc. Can't wait for the next book to be released! EDIT: can all the achievements be completed?? I'm going nuts trying to get each one.

this is the worse cyoa game i ever played. got to chapter 7. still see very little story and progress all you do is battle and you lose so much. this is a boring game about luck. very stressful unentertaining. if you want a good one, read magium on the app store. 10x better than this

I think that this is well written, (even actual real life physical books have the occasional typo) the story drew me in, the descriptions of eerie post-End-Day London create strong mental images, and the illustrations are haunting as well. I've just finished this one as I wanted to refresh before reading the second installment, and by making different choices this time around I had a far richer experience. Thank you to the author and the rest of his team!
