The Dark Maze is a sci-fi story-driven maze puzzle game where the player must navigate treacherous mazes by touch and sound. The pitch black mazes and must be navigated very carefully to avoid the dangers they contain.
NOTE TO THE PLAYER
The Dark Maze is slow paced game. This game is by no means easy and requires patience to best. The expected time to beat this game is about 30-45 minutes depending on your tactile sense. The game saves after every level, so there's no need to finish it in one sitting. For a challenge try playing with your eyes closed!
DEVELOPMENT
Originally this game was conceptualized to be playable without the use of vision, however the current version is not friendly (though possibly playable with some help) to the visually impaired. If there is interest for a visually impaired friendly version, please contact me via email. Please share and leave a review if you'd like to see more levels!
ABOUT PERMISSIONS
The game is built on Unity, which requests certain permissions from the phone. Network access is needed to display the ads in the game and to run analytics. The Dark Maze's game logic does not collect or use any data apart from this. The game uses phone vibration as part of the tactile mechanic, but should be playable without.
ABOUT ADS
The game shows a total of 3 advertisements shown at certain points (after the halfway point) in the game. For a your playthrough, no additional advertisements will be shown. These ads can not be skipped.

Unfolding stories provide a good motivation to play through. Mazes are challenging enough to invoke heavy frustration. One downside is the constant haptic feedback drains battery and heats phone on older devices.

(Had issues submitting my review, so apologies if the old drafts pop up!) *Disclosure* I helped test the game through development. You can thank me for such little things as not having to listen to the equivalent of a deaf DJ drop the bass every time you run into a wall (... but I half-jest, carry on). Dark Maze is about navigating your way through maze after maze, each shrouded in darkness, _literally_ feeling your way out. Every time you reach the exit of a maze, having finally wended your way past each turn, you feel a sense of accomplishment you feel with precious few mobile games. This game represents a tidy marriage between narrative and gameplay, knit together through the clever use of your mobile's vibrations as a mechanic for feedback. Though be aware the vibration feature can chew through your battery (though it is completely worth it!), so consider yourself forewarned.

Had a lot of fun playing this. There were many moments where I really felt like I was navigating out of a room in pitch black by feeling out my surroundings. Extremely immersive and unique.

I usually get bored of games easily but the story line/sound effects keep this game even more interesting/entertaining.

It gives me a straight feel of people trying to fight a way out towards light. Very fun and challenging. If the vibration mechanic can be replaced with something visual, in my opinion it will be more appealing .
