The Cave

Hours and hours of enjoyable playthrough, and that was just my first journey with only three of the seven characters (and only one ending each of the two). Wonderful story about the weight of the decisions we make in pursuit of what we want. I definitely felt like I had made some weighty decisions,some even scary. I'll play through again soon with three new characters and therefore a whole new set of stories! Only issue was performance, Google suggests that a common kitkat issue is all. Low framerate: Note3

One thing though. The controls are great but only with an Xbox 360 controller connected via otg cable. The touch controls suck so if you can't connect an Xbox 360 controller to your phone you may not want to buy this game.I loved it on ouya and that why I bought it. Tried to run it after installing cm11 and it didn't work. Will post back after I do a USB key hack to let everyone know how it runs. On the original stock ouya this game is excellent. Its also excellent on nexus 6 but only with a physical ctrl.

So fun and interesting. The controls were tough to master. The swipe to jump doesn't work at all on my S4, tapping above does work. I really hope we get a sequel!! Edit: ok so I actually played through a second time, and I'm fighting the urge to go through a 3rd time this week. LOVE IT!

With the amazing gameplay and graphics...I'm completely baffled how such a talented team could do epically fail implementing a proper control scheme. I mean what were you guys thinking? Not only does it take away the experience for the player...but this small aspect completely craps all over your hard work.

The swipe to jump just doesn't work. Are you supposed to release your directional control finger, swipe (in direction or up?) then reapply? Or swipe over the character? Or a different part of the screen? All are very clumsy. It's a shame because the game is a rare gem for the professionalism in development. Can we have on screen d pad and jump button please?

I was skeptical after playing so many games that were either too short or just lame. This game had a fantastic storyline, challenging puzzles and gave me days of pleasure. Thank you for putting in all the effort to make a great game.

I read other reviews and thought the controls can't be that bad, they must not be used to touchscreen gaming. Well they are possibly the worst controls I've used. If only you could change them or have an onscreen gamepad. Works good with nyko playpad though.

Excellent story, just hard enough puzzles (sometimes a tad too hard), great atmosphere. Sometimes the controls are a bit difficult on a phone screen. I spent 5 minutes trying to push a dragon's food bowl a couple of meters because it was really, really hard to hit the spot where the character would push instead of just walk.

It could be a good game..... but when exiting the app to take a call the screen blacks out and then if you close the app you loose your progress. Never written a review before but so annoyed with this game. I've done the first ten minutes three times now and won't be trying a 4th.

This game is like a dream. It works a little bit buggy on the note 3, but I think that this problem happens only in some cases. Once, one of my characters got stuck in a falling position and I had to start from the last save point. But anyway, I bought the PC version and now I can enjoy it fully. I asked for a refund and the team answered very fast, they wanted to help and I thank you a lot , Vic :) one of the best games in store !

Seems like a pretty good game, but control options suck. I want a refund. And there is no refund button appearing anymore . And I just d loaded it yesterday. Please refund . Still waiting on refund 2 days and counting. Still haven't got refund and that's been since 2015 smh

If you don't have a controller to play this game don't waste your money. The touchscreen controls are awful, making simple tasks a major challenge. Simply put, the touch controls make the game nearly unplayable. What was so wrong with a virtual stick and some virtual buttons?

Wouldn't even down load properly. Wish I could play. Very disappointing as I was so eager to play a game from these creators. Please..... Let's hear back from them.update: still can't play.........we all paid money.... Come on...second update: still have heard nothing back from the developers and still no update....... Ridiculous update yet again: too big for my brand new phone are u kidding

When I launch the game, all that I get is sound with black screen. The devs have known about this for over a year but haven't addressed the issue. Extremely disappointed

Great game play, but frustratingly the pause menu button doesn't work so i have to start every section from the beginning if I leave the game. Had it not been for this problem, would be 5 stars!

This game is amazing, got hooked after just 5 minutes of play. I only wish there were more characters you could play at one time, but I guess I'll play it again with different characters after I finish with my current ones. Also I suggest playing this title on a bigger screen device as you could see more details, headphones are also recommended. AAA+

I really wanted to love this game, and I did love the dialogue, however the controls did not port to a touch device well. Unresponsive controls had me running into a spike pit for ten minutes. Or mysteriously running the opposite direction off a cliff. At first I thought it was my device so I tried it on my tablet with the same results. I was willing to try and soldier through, but then it started freezing on me. Looks like I'll be picking this up on steam.

Big disappointment needs on screen controls . I uninstalled reinstalled. The crow bar was in the shed on time now its by all the characters and ten times bigger than what it should be. I can open the cave though when I open the cave and get to the door way suppose to jump on the rock can not for some reason sucks waste of money

Seems like a great game but I find the controls on Android to be poorly designed and defined. So many times in a row I jump when I don't mean to, or don't when I want to and I have to redo a lot. And once my friend sent me a video while I was playing, I open the video, and when I come back to the game, ALL my progress from that stage was lost, and I was almost done too! Considering how frustrating I find the controls, I'm not sure I'm willing to redo everything for that level. Would not buy again.

One of the best games on Android and by an embarrassingly significant margin for other development firms. Part point and click adventure, part puzzle platformer with multiple characters and storylines. Great fun with some issues. They are: Absolutely atrocious controls. You will die attempting maneuvers and working to solve simple puzzles as a result of the lousy controls. Often. And then you will die again. Very frustrating. Also, in order to save your game you actually have to exit the game.

It is very well written. The art and animation is first class. But annoying controls. I don't know how many times I solved a puzzle. Tried lots of times. When it didn't work I thought I was wrong. But then the walk through proved me right from the beginning. Especially the monks mountain was full of that. Almost every puzzle. Drove me crazy. The time traveller section was brilliant. Superb writing, clever puzzles and funny! Well done

The humor and characters are ridiculous in a good way, but whoever designed these bullshit controls should be shot. If you're going to make this a tablet game, realize that the screen is sensitive and maybe correct for that. Then you'll get a 4 or 5 star rating... But not until. The controls suck character dies or can't summon another character when needed without accidentally clicking the wrong one. Frustrating as hell...

The game is quite interesting. It's not a master piece of adventure games but it is quite fun and the story is nice and funny. It's a good game and I recommend it. What I don't recommend is the mobile version. Don't buy this one. Get it on steam or a console of your choosing. The controls are simply poorly ported. It gets really frustrating to control the characters sometimes, especially if you are trying to speed around. And since you control 3 characters, you will want to speed around from time to time.

Sooo difficult to jump over things or to drag certain objects. Ridiculous activity for a game that supposedly challenges the mind. Left instead to try and time exact jumps and upward swipes. Such a shame for a game that is otherwise sublime.

Downloads and installs fine - several times. Opening the game results in a black screen (and sometimes audio). Nothing happens past that, though device remains functional otherwise. Disappointing to say the least...

Fantastic visuals and funny commentary don't make up for the difficulty in controlling actions. Swiping to jump is a real pain that ends up in your character dying more often than not (and me almost throwing my tablet in frustration). On screen buttons would be much better.

Bought the game just because of Ron. Read nothing about it beforehand. Finished the game three times for all characters and I still want more. Sure, it has its problems, control could be improved, ending is a bit not here not there. But it's definitely a great adventure game. I can possibly do some even harder puzzles too.

I'm not really like into platform games, which I think this is, but this game was funny each story had an interesting twist.

What a fantastic game. Controlling the characters definitely takes some getting used to. I love how you have to use all 3 characters you choose at the beginning in order to complete certain puzzles. Graphics and gameplay are topnotch. Voiceovers are topnotch. Highly recommend this one!

I love everything about this game except the touch controls. A lot of work and love went into creating this world and these characters. It's a shame I have so much trouble keeping them from walking off ledges, missing jumps, and getting caught on the tops of ladders. I can't seem to figure out what makes them continue moving after I've stopped touching the screen. About half the time, I have serious trouble interacting with objects. I really want to keep playing, but it's pretty frustrating.

I had this game on my XBox and loved it, so when I found it available for my Galaxy Tab I was pleased! However, as others have noted it doesn't work. Although it claims compatibility and downloads and installs okay, when you open it you get nothing but a black screen and some emotive background music. I left the tablet for 3 hours when I went out and came back to the same thing, so it's definitely not a winner sadly. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon, until then I've uninstalled and requested a refund. What a shame.

Great game, great graphics, great story, great soundtrack, great puzzles, and I love the fact each character has their own unique level!

controls for android screen is not good. works well with shield controller though. love the game itself im a monkey island fan so recommended for those looking for a similar game.

It's a good game I've played it on the PlayStation it just this game is freezing up on me it looks like it has a lot of bugs in it I hope you guys will fix this for me please

I was a fan of the Monkey Island and other LucasArts games and found The Cave enjoyable for the same witty humor that was in those. Particularly, this game borrows a lot from Maniac Mansion. It is a lot more level- and puzzle focused and not as much focused on narrative. (You play out the narrative for each of the characters as part of the level, but not in a classic adventure game fashion.)

Story lines are fun and humorous. Not super easy - had to use a walkthrough a few times but not frustratingly hard. And playing 3 characters at once takes a little getting used to. Since there are several characters to choose from, you can play the game more than once with new story lines. I SO wish there were more android games as entertaining as this one! Well worth the money! WELL DONE!!!
