DuckTales: Remastered for Android
Update: Reached out to Disney support, and after some back and forth messaging, this is their response, "We can definitely pass this feedback (lack of controller support) along to see if our development team can get together a list of compatible controllers/devices for this app. We are not sure if/when we could see what kinds of controllers are specifically compatible with the app, but the development team is aware of this issue now. " THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH GAMEPADS! This game does NOT work correctly with my shield controller or even wired xbox 360 controller (which works with practically everything). I have reached out to the dev asking for a refund or working controller compatibility. Guess we'll see what happens.
Just have to leave a short review here to say that this functions perfectly fine on my NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro with the NVIDIA SHIELD Controller, so the reviews stating there is a problem with the game using the SHIELD device and controller must have some weird things interfering in their own setup. Plays good, and looks nice and sharp.
Excellent on the Nvidia Shield Android TV. Update: game keeps crashing on final boss. No cloud save so I can't easily try to finish the final boss on another device. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but that lost my save. Very disappointed.
I downloaded this for the nostalgia. It's a fun little game to play on my Mi box. My problem with it is that the save is glitchy. I've had to start from the beginning almost every time I turn it on.
ShieldTV game controller does not work with this game, I will gladly change my review once you get the shieldtv controller working! Seems like the developers allowed it on androidTV store without testing it properly. Please Fix!
This does work with the Shield TV controller just fine. It perhaps gets confused if you have other 3rd party remote controls paired, but it works just fine for me!
This game is being sold on the Google play store on the Nvidia Shield but it does not fully support the controller. You can jump but you can't move around.
As much as I love the game it constantly crashes on both the Shield TV when fighting Dracula Duck and on the LG G3.
Nvidia Shield tv 16g version with no extra usb etc installed, Shield controller works great, not really sure why people are having issues, Dpad and everything just worked as you would expect it too. Runs great
I don't know why people are saying this game does not work with the Nvidia smiled controller, mine works perfect also Nvidia made other controller support for the system including 360 ps3 and wiiu
Lacks controller support for nvidia shield even though it says that it is compatible. Please fix
I have normal bluetooth ebay gamepad which works on all android games except this one so I dont think it is a problem of a gamepad
Will not start on shield TV, instantly crashes. They have no interest in fixing it, don't bother.
Best HD remaster since Super Mario All-Stars. Android TV support is great!
Not working with Xbox360 controller on Android 5, its shame because on Android TV it is working.
This is a great platform game, as addictive as the original DuckTales. Graphics and sound are great. Controller support is very welcome. Works well on the Nvidia Shield TV and GPD XD. Please add official controller support to Castle of Illusion so there isn't a need to map screen controls
Doesn't work with Shield TV controller
Works great on NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV! No cloud save feature to Google Play Games, Please add!!
Seriously Disney???? No achievements?
Amazing plataformer! Very fun, high quality graphics and musics and nice port. Highly replayable to get all unlockables and find all secrets. The voice acting is terrific! I miss some achievements that could expand the playtime. I recommend!
I've always enjoyed watching the duck tales series when I was a kid and was hyped to see it have a remastered version. The game looks and sounds amazing, and it reminded me just how much I loved scrouge's character. But the bugs just make it frustrating. Witty humor and lines all through stages, and you get rewarded, not by music or by a cutscene showing the stage boss but by glitches, tears or no sound at all.
Just like playing and being in a cartoon. Fantastic graphics, catchy music and superb story. Easy mode is great for children as well as myself, plus you can also pick where you want to go next on the map. Their is some slow down at times and ropes jumps get a little tricky at the end, but overall this is great game that brings a smile to your face, young or old.
Controller support has been broken since release. Neither analogue sticks nor D-Pad work on nVidia controller nor all Bluetooth controllers I tried. Seems to be abandoned. Avoid on nVidia Shield Android TV and given the extent of the fault on other controller based systems as well. Edit: Still unmaintained. Have submitted a ticket. Got an autmated response. No fix for two months. Still avoid
Has an annoying bug with controller input. I have a Shield TV with a Logitech Harmony Hub paired via bluetooth that serves as a universal remote. This game seems to think the remote is the game controller and the gamepad doesn't work. I have to turn off the Logitech Hub before I start the game in order to play with the gamepad.
I've bought and downloaded this game many times, and sent a request to the developer about controller support. I hear that the Shield Remote works, but the Game Controller still does not. I don't use any key binding programs, and am only using the console controller that comes with the Shield TV. Every other game I've downloaded through the play store works but this one. I have been dying to play this game, and this is an unfortunate oversight. I hope you can resolve it.
On my nvidia shield tv 16GB model with expanded storage just instantly crashes and I have sent a report. I have no refund option by the time i got to install and test. Would love to play this on the device I bought it for. Hopefully developer will update and will get to play and rate correctly.
Good gamepad support, nice animated graphic, great fun, thumbs up!
Excellent on the Nvidia Shield Android TV
Thanks so much for adding Android TV support!
Installs and runs on the Shield TV, but had no support for the d-pad or joystick on the controller. You can use the Shield stick remote, but that's very difficult. Please fix these simple functions for the controller.
Analog stick will not work, but both buttons do!!!!(Nexus Gamepad)
Good game, but please update the Shield TV support in order to be able to play with the gamepad. Thank you.
Using nvidia shield TV and as a 33 year old guy who played this as a kid and now has his own kids I was buzzing.. Controller doesn't work tried normal shield controller or the ps4 wired usb one (as a side note - ideal if you have a console and don't want to put another £40 on another shield remote we used the stock ps4 one with a lead for a ton of CO op games like lego)
Love it! Now that you added Android TV it's perfect!
I can't move using the direction stick or pad on the Nvidia Shield TV
Completely captures the NES Ducktales game with just the right amount of new and nostalgia to satisfy anyones desires. I dont play much games on my phone but this certainly makes me have to. Love the difficulty of it also, not too easy to just run through the game.
This is really well gone, but I'm itching to play it on the big screen. The touch screen controls are just too tough to master for my giant thumbs. NVIDIA Shield compatibility would turn this to a 5 star review QUICK.
Controls seem really glitchy at points not allowing you to jump stuff like that should have listened to the reviews 9.99 ain't worth it get something else
Everything looks ok, sounds ok. The controls work fine, but there's a problem. The controls are on top of the game screen, and oftentimes right over the action. Especially, for example, during boss fights. How can I play if the action is happening behind my thumbs? Unfortunately, I didn't realize this was going to be a problem until the refund period expired. Now, there IS an option to adjust the opacity of the on-screen buttons, but it makes no difference when I can't adjust the opacity of my thumbs.

I had submitted a ticket concerning the lack of controller support in April. It now is August. The game is abandoned. It is now reported to Google since its placement on the Android TV Store as having controller support without functioning controller support is false advertising. To reiterate what I had said in my ticket: nVidia Android Shield TV. Tested controllers: Shield TV controller and Ouya controller.
