About American Revolutionary War

American Revolutionary War is a highly rated classic turn-based strategy game set on the American East Coast.

You are in command of the ragtag US armies during the American Revolutionary War 1775-1783. The object of the game is to fight off British forces and control enough cities to be able to claim independence. Events threatening the Colonies include raids by Iroquois warriors, uprisings by royalist units, and Hessians and British forces landing on your shores.

Cities provide supply to units, while Plantations provide Gold which is needed for various purchases. New militia units can be formed from Minutemen locations still at your control. Any attacking unit needs to be located nearby a movable Ammo Depot, which can be created from Armories.

FEATURES:
+ Economy & Production: You decide how to use the meager resources at your disposal: Build roads, form more units, pacify restless elements, upgrade militia to cavalry or regular infantry, etc.
+ Long-lasting: Thanks to in-built variation and the game's smart AI technology, each game provides a unique war gaming experience.
+ Competitive: Measure your strategy game skills against others fighting for the Hall of Fame top spots.
+ Supports casual play: Easy to pick up, leave off, continue later.
+ Experienced units learn new skills, like improved attack or defense performance, extra move points, damage resistance, etc.
+ Settings: Various options are available to alter the look of the gaming experience: Switch between terrain themes, change difficulty level, choose icon set for units (NATO or REAL) and cities (Round, Shield, or Square), decide what is drawn on the map, change font and hexagon sizes.
+ Tablet friendly strategy game: Automatically scales the map for any physical screen size/resolution from small smartphones to HD tablets, while settings allow you to fine tune hexagon and font sizes.

In order to be a victorious general, you must learn to coordinate your attacks in two ways. First, as adjacent units give support to an attacking unit, keep your units in groups in order to gain local superiority. Secondly, it is rarely the best idea to use brute force when it is possible to encircle the enemy and cut off its supply lines instead.

Conflict-Series has offered highly rated Android-only strategy games since 2011. The campaigns are based on the time-tested gaming elements TBS (turn-based strategy) enthusiasts are familiar with from both the classic PC war games and legendary tabletop board games. I also want to thank the fans for all the well thought-out suggestions over the years which have allowed these campaigns to improve at a much higher rate than what any indie developer could dream of. if you have feedback about the Conflict-Series please use email, this way we can have a constructive back and forth conversion without all the limits of the store's comment system. In addition, because I have huge number of projects on multiple stores, it’s just not very sensible to spend handful of hours each day going through hundreds of pages spread all over the Internet to see if somebody has posted a question somewhere -- just send me an email and I will answer to it as soon as I'm online. Thanks for understanding!

I'm struggling with ARW. A lot of map, very few units and a overly aggressive Brit AI. I have not had a chance to be proactive.. just reacting. Edit: 7/24/13 --- Changes to ARW has greatly improved it. I've raised it from 3 stars to 5. It is still a challenge, but one that I feel is possible to defeat. Kudos to Joni :-)

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Played about ten incomplete games before I won on turn 202. Hall of fame was empty so I'm not sure how I rate against others. I play 3-5 unit strong points to wither the stronger British forces. Retreating smartly to avoid encirclement. Lost less than five units in 7 years. I like how gold limits attacks and makes you plan offensives.

This type of game is not for everyone but for those that can appreciate it, it's a masterpiece!

I'm a huge fan of JN's games, and this has great potential, but it is simply *overwhelmingly* difficult even on the easiest setting... the economics seem very far off. I'll come back to replay after an update, but I can't recommend this purchase... wargame fans should buy JN's other games for now.

Still can't figure out how to merge my units ( AI Does), but overall an awesome game. Like old avalon hill games. Loved them. Most games by this creator are amazing

I have played and enjoyed every other game by this author. This one is ridiculous. Indians multiply like breeding rabbits. There are not nearly enough resources to pay off the Indians and the Royalists and fight the limitless supply of British and sessions that keep landing. This game Sucks.

Is there anyway the next upgrade can have game modes supply and normal??

Love the game but hate the fact that the British head directly for your gold plantations, so they know where they are going. When they take over an area you can't see where these lost plantations are as they are just red hexes. Surely you should still see this info within the red hexes as its weighted towards the British.

If you have more then 2 resource screens available forget it, its lost and you can't use. I gave up on the game when at the very end the fort at montreal was impossible to beat. I sourounded it with 3 calvary and 4 infantry. Not a single victory after 10 turns. If bugs can be corrected this has the potential to be one of the best android turn based war games available otherwise its garbage...

It's challenging almost to the point of making u wanna give up but like the real Americans of the time, if u stay with it, u can overcome the odds. Gameplay is the same addictive formula as previous releases from this author.

The best game on this subject I have seen. Enough uniqueness and variation from Joni's previous games to make it exciting!

One thing I studied from this game was how active the Indians were in the war, and if you don't contain them, they will run wild and ruin national morale. A good game, but the key in this game is cutting supply lines, and try to avoid set battles as much as possible. Two glitches in the game - ammo dumps are sometimes built in enemy territory and lost, and I had about 10 strength points in Yorktown when the Royalists rose up centered in Yorktown - not sure how that could happen with my entire southern army in garrison there. I won on turn 70 by cutting supply lines with a lot of Calvary and spending a lot suppressing Indians and Royalists

Never plays the same way twice, I spend hour devising new ways to allocate meager resources and praying for the French to enter the war quickly....

I grew up playing the Avalon Hill series of games. While not as in depth, you will easily pick up the nuances of this game and enjoy it as you rise through the increasing difficulty levels. Easy to learn, yet challenging, I highly recommend American Revolutionary War.

Very challenging. Hint: cut off British troops from their bases. Wither on the vine rather than direct attack them.

I consider myself to be a good strategist. However, this game throws strategy out the window. Just when I mop up the british, the indians show up. I spend time mopping up the indians, but then the royalist show up. Then after I handel the britts, the indians and the royalists the hessians show and mess everything up. The game will keep you thinking, but dont think you can win.

While the game dose have a revolutionary feel at first, it becomes a hectic jumble of invading hessians, royalits, indians, and lets not forget the british. Super chalenging but makes for long lasting play. The only way to beat it is by multiple militia so the enemy is cut off from supply.

I've bought/played/won almost all of Joni's games and thought that he wasn't likely to release anything that came close to the intensity of Eastern Front. In my opinion, this is his best though by some way. The completely non-linear nature of the game play with no defined front lines and random events such as Indians, Royalist uprisings and the dreaded British fleet landing make for a truly engrossing game. I've only played v1.6 but can reassure people that it is beatable - although probably not the first few times you play it. You need to seriously think about your tactics otherwise you'll just be overwhelmed. If you're a serious strategy fan then you'll love this.

Best yet from this designer. Good simulation of guerilla war: Powerful British units can take territory but have trouble holding it if you keep your nerve and cut them off with your weaker units. Excellent variability of play as British, royalist, and Indian units pop up randomly in different places. Bravo.

I give this 4 stars. For the most part, the game works as expected. The author needs to fix the following bugs: 1 Royalist Revolts in cities that are garrisoned does not seem realistic. 2 Speech cannot be applied to a unit collocated with a resource or other unit. 3 Roads should be buildable anywhere the user chooses, excluding lakes and oceans. 4 The game loses track of earlier road builds when building in multiple turns. 5 Richmond is misspelled. The game is great.
