Whether I connect smoothly or tap, usually only one letter is highlighted . Sometimes two. Then time runs out. I don't have this with any other game or writing texts or emails from same device. I uninstalled and reinstalled

It takes probably 5 seconds to hit 1 letter. And when your timed that's a lot of wasted time.
