Hero Project Redemption Season for Android
Played the free chapters and that's about as far as i think i will go. As others have said, the gender issue topics are way more heavy handed than the original trilogy. As far as i could tell, that IS the main story now, (obviously its all based on metaphor with the Ani-powered). Honestly I'm surprised, as what I've read felt much more like some fan-fiction than something actually connected to the series. Oh well.
I like the heroriseuniverse and i enjoyed going deeper into this universe but i dislike how forceful these ani issues were presented and made me replay the earlier games. I play hero rise because I wanted to play a hero. The first trilogy was great but it seemed to focus on infini issues so when i heard there was a second trilogy i hope this one be more of a superhero game but instead focus on ani issues but without the slow build like the first trilogy just thrown right in how much it suckstobe ani powered
like the story just hate it that I can't even play as my original character, I loved his power set, being able to control gravity and touch atoms. now I'm forced to play a lame character with lame powers ugh oh well. I just hope we'll ever get to continue playing as our original character if there's ever a continuation on the last 3 trilogies, we'll so love that
Like the MC and the way the powers were played and wanted to get onto the story but being beat over the head with the social justice themes kept killing the mood
Despite the many negative reviews I saw, it was a single positive one that made me give it a shot. Thank you Hanrase A. You can make a difference. You can be a hero. And damn it all, you can be proud of your character. This whole series makes me miss City of Heroes...
Can't play my original character, which sucks because I loved his power set. It is a bit preachy at times as well. I hope in the future we get a continuation of the original trilogy.
This game was refreshing. The story so far has been compelling. The ratings are dragged down by fools who can't get off their own idealistic little hero fantasy world. The main storyline seems cliche, sure, but it's better than an even more cliche and predictable story where the mc is born a total badass. It paints heroes as not only ones that are born with the most special powers or are privileged enough to get out there and fight. Overall a fascinating read. Don't let the cliche-loving idiots get to you.
A text adventure is basically worthless in today's technologically advanced society. Why would I sit here paying you for something mediocre at best when I could be reading a different, better written adventure for completely free? It makes zero sense to me.
This is by far the best game I've played in a long time. It's amazing to have a game where you can be lgbt without it being the main focus of the game. The characters are also amazingly diverse, including characters of color, disabled characters, and gay and nonbinary characters. In addition the story itself is incredible and kept me invested and on the edge of my seat throughout the entire thing. I haven't played the other games in this hero series but if they're anything like this I'm definitely going to look into them and would recommend that everyone else do the same.
The only progression in this game is in the number of made-up pronouns you encounter. A SJW might blow a load here but if you're normal, you'll find this game distasteful.
I so happy this came out so that I could see what happened next even if I wasn't playing my original character he still appears which was just the coolest #HeroesRise:TheProdigy
I just didn't like how I couldn't just wait 30 minutes and watch an add in between chapters. That would be much better than having to get 4 chapters in and realized I have to pay for some writing that can come across as hard to comprehend at times or just not make much sense in terms of story (the story seems a bit hard to follow and it's easy to get lost)
Seemed like a SJW fandom and also this is the Dragon Age 2 of the series if you get my drift.
EDIT: Went back and played the Heroes Rise Trilogy which changed my views. Looking back on this, I found that HPRS is new-player friendly, but playing the previous trilogy made everything feel familiar and just easier to understand. It made me appreciate HPRS even more. If HPRS mimics the previous trilogy in any way, then that makes me more eager to see what comes next. To me, Heroes Rise: The Prodigy was the basic, vanilla origin story that didn't peak my interest that much, but the following installments really picked up and were engaging, so here's hoping the same will happen with HPRS! The other reviews were spot-on with the social justice themes. It's awesome that the author wants to incorporate it into the story and the MC's history/motives, but it's a little jarring in how it's handled, and becomes more prominent after the demo. This trickled down into the characters too, but I guess the whole format makes sense, considering they are on a "game show", and promoting and campaigning for their own causes. The story itself seems promising, but it didn't pick up until the end for me. I thought this game would be new player friendly, but there was a lot of catching up to do and sometimes, it felt like I was too busy figuring out all the different factions. So definitely wanna check out the first series, so I can understand the lore and the references better. I bought this game because I got attached to StarSoar at the end of the demo, so I was pretty bummed when I found out he got bumped off so early in the game. I mean, come on! (At least, he'll come back in the next one??) I'm interested to know what happens next, but this wasn't as enjoyable compared to other choice games.
This is looking like it's gonna be another great series of stories. I hope my new character and my old character in the original Hero Rise get to interact in the coming stories. Regardless, I'm excited to see what will come next.
A+ Choose your own adventure. Story is awesome, and it's well written all the way through. Can't wait for more!
This story is a change of pase from the previous series, but it is stil great. Because I feel that this MC might be a combination of more than just three power groups... Loved it and can't wait til next one is released.
A new take on this series you play as one of the least popular hero classes , since it's the first part there's not much content and it leaves many questions unanswered but definately keep an eye on this new series.
Even before playing Redemption, I felt as though this new adventure would be a step back from all the buildup I experienced from the original series. In the original, we moved from protecting your city, to being a contestant, to saving your country from your worst enemy. Instead of then progressing to saving America from the rest of the world as the MC we've become so invested in, we seem to have taken a step back that feels uninspiring to me. I was hoping maybe we'd see a completely new side of Victon where it turns out that turning to a Anti Powered revolution was the only realistic way for America to stay standing when for every American hero there are 3 Chinese heros and Russia is trying to come back to relevance using advanced forms of the Pump drug. Depending on your choices, you might take over Victons position and realise the superpowered rest of the world is changing just as MC changed America and there will be all kinds of game changing choices you'll make, who will you ally, will you use your infinity powers to fight back, and will you follow in Victons path and research how to nullify superpowers for good? Ultimately I dont wish to discourage Sergi from the story he is taking. I feel getting the correct balance between what the author wants vs what the reader wants has an impact on how good the reviews are and it's pretty visable when you contrast the original to this. The thing is, once the beginning of a story has been put in stone, you have to work with it and breakthrough a lackluster beginning to find "Redemption" and give yourself a better story to work with. I do have faith in Sergi and I plan to buy this and rate 5 and I want to believe he'll outdo himself and not be discouraged!
These books have drawn me into emotionally, and mentally. Can't wait for more. Is there more?
Even though i felt bad because i cant play my original character,I still enjoyed it and i was surprised when my original character was linked to the THP:Redemption Season. CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT AND ONWARD SEASONS!!
When the author's voice is stronger than the character's, you're simply proselytising
I liked the story and the carachters but its a bit too gender focused appart that i cant wait to read season 2.
I was dumb with my last review, this is a piece of art
It was good but the equality parts really let the game down
All most as good as the original trilogy and i cant wait for the rest
I like this but I think i like the heroesfall continuation more. Try to continue the series
Great story! When is the next episode coming?
Reading/playing it now
Can't wait for more!
I was a fan of the first trilogy and was excited to try this one. The other big complaint aside, the real sin here that can't be forgiven is the power choice. In a superhero game you need a cool power and this one was more like a curse. Transforming me into a warbling chickenman or fat bee that can't even move of its own accord? Give the mc the power to control the change next time. Mystique is a perfect example of a cool character for this kind of game. Not this mc.
The fresh perspective was entertaining, it was lengthy and played on the emotions a bit-though not as well as Herofall. The Prodigal inclusion feels a little bit over the top- even for her character; although I did enjoy seeing her again. Also felt the activism options were too bleeding heart (too exaggerated). This author is one of my favorites, and I look forward to the more refined sequel I know will be released--- as the heroes series got better every game.
The only problems I have with it are personal and with a certain character's pronouns. I feel like they/them could have worked just fine. Of course it's not that big of a deal, I love how other gendered characters are portrayed, like it's not a problem for anyone. But more importantly, I think the story was fantastic, to be expected from this series.
Never have I seen more of a disconect between the player and the main character. Because as aposed to previous herofall games this game hardly lets you make your own story, deciding your motivation and backstory by the first few paragraphs. Also the actual story takes a backseat to social justice warrior preaching. I enjoyed the lgbtq representation in the previous games, but I didn't get this game to read someone's auto biography of discrimination. I got this game to become a superhero in millennial city.
The game was amazing. It offers a lot more choice for both your sex/gender and sexuality. It managed to captivate me and keep me on the edge of my seat (especially near the end) and the social commentery it provides is integrated well into the plot. I can't wait for the next part to come out and find out what's really going on.
I downloaded this intriguied and not knowing what to expect whilst watching tv. After an hour of playing I turned the tv off. It is now 6am, I have been up all night playing this right through to the end. It is, in short, a masterpiece of the genre and if I could give it 10 stars I would. The wonderful creativity on display and engaging story make this one of my favourite ever downloads.
To be honest when I first tried it I stopped after a little bit. I didn't like the powers. But then after I reread the entire previous trilogy I decided to try again and for some reason I was really able to get into this. I dont mind the changing animorphs, but i can see how some people would rather stick with a smaller skill set. I didn't like the heavy handed preachiness, but everyone gets defensive now. Please put more character into the heroes you can romance. The Haters just cant handle this jelly!
I loved the original series and I can respect this new ones dedication to addressing relevant issues in our society through this universe, social justice has always been a passion of mine and the diversity of the characters and choices is a refreshing change of pace from what I'm used to. It's just... Not as good? The original series was much more in depth and immersive, I feel like this book didn't even have it's rising action much less a conclusion. All three of the first series books could have functioned as standalone stories, when I got to the end of this one I was shocked because the conflict had BARELY been reached... I still have high hopes for future books in this series though.
I disliked this installment because I found it extremely difficult to get into the main character. I realize that that might have been what the author was going for but it did not work for me. While I appreciate that insider/outsider was an important theme, it is just not what I look for in superhero escapist fiction. Additionally there were too many supporting characters to keep up with and they were lacking. Author sacrificed character and story for theme and I prefer the former.

Less fun than the original. While I support the subject the author is supporting, I like my games to be more fun and less like an educational sermon. As much as I loved the previous games, I have not been able to finish this one. It definitely disappointed me because I was really looking forward to playing through another season of the Hero Project.
