About Thieves' Gambit: Black Cat

You're the world's greatest jewel thief! Well, second greatest. But if you and your team of talented crooks can steal the Black Cat, the world's unluckiest diamond, you'll be legendary!

“Thieves’ Gambit: The Curse of the Black Cat” is an interactive heist caper by Dana Duffield, where your choices control the story. It's entirely text-based--without graphics or sound effects--and fueled by the vast, unstoppable power of your imagination.

The Black Cat has never been stolen, its previous owners all having died under improbably unfortunate circumstances. Break into the palace of San Castellano, pinch the gem, evade the relentless Inspector Leclerc and get away before you succumb to the Curse of the Black Cat!

Play as male or female; gay, straight, or bi. Choose your methods and your motives. Will you be an honorable thief or a ruthless criminal? A technical genius or a master of disguise? Who can you trust, and who will you double-cross?

The story is alright, but as far as COG games go, it's lacking. It's very short. The romances are boring and predictable. It's fine for a quick read, but I wish I hadn't spent money on it

Decent read but waaaay too pricey for it's very short length

Decent heist story

I love this game, it's one of my favourites of COG, but after recently playing for probably the twentieth time I kept getting the same exact ending. I would betray Bouchard on one and team up with him on another, but the ending stayed the same. If you do manage to get the game to work well it is fantastic!

It's so short you could probably finish it in 20-30 minutes. Great concept, but short. It seems that after the first heist things just fall apart, character development ehhhh, it's not low quality, but it's not the best. What I mean by that is, u get a whole back story and picture of 2 characters, but for the rest u get enough information for a vague picture.

Whether I betray Nick, work with him or he betrays us, the ending of the story on the carribean island is still exactly the same

I've played many a choice of games/hosted games. This one Is good with a satisfying ending however feels a bit too short and leaves a little something to be desired. I finished it in one sitting (bout an hour and a half) and does feel a tad scripted. Worth a buy if your looking for something to quickly check out

Bought most of your games and frankly this is the only game I've reviewed. It's short, sweet, and fast-paced. It'd be PERFECT with a sequel.

There is only one heist. After that the game is already finished. The replay value is so weak too. Whatever you choose the end will still be the same. I want a refund but oh well.

No seriously. You NEED this choice game thingy of a story. And this NEEDS its sequel

It changed genders of my characters several times. Fix those and I will give you a 5

I really enjoyed this, and I hope there will be another installment someday!

Writing is fluid and graceful. Choices are meaningful. Characters are dynamic and interesting, plus who doesn't want to step into the shoes of someone who lives life on the edge?

N70%
by N####:

I've restarted this game over and over trying all the different options and I can't recruit Nick at the beginning. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but when a simple game needs a guide it gets irritating.

Q70%
by Q####:

One of the shortest COG adventures I've played. The writing quality is actually pretty good, but I didn't feel like I got much bang for my buck. There's a little replayability with the different skills, but I felt that the main heist was pretty anticlimactic and rushed.

E70%
by E####:

A little railroaded though...

Q70%
by Q####:

A little short but I enjoyed it regardless. An entertaining read and worth the download. The Burglar achievement seems to be broken though.

C70%
by C####:

Not bad in fact it is a very good game just that it is too short still a good game.
