Decent application although navigation through menus is a little odd. I reported (by email to dev) a couple of bugs: in resulting notation, Castling is represented with zeroes rather than capital O, (should be O-O not 0-0 for example) and resulting pgn file is invalid. Last I checked, players names are not copied properly (last and first name are mixed up). Otherwise this more or less works.

Thank you! Spent all day looking for a way to record my postal games. Nice job!

R70%

This is fun and easy to use for recording games, but it is NOT approved for tournament play. Certify it with USCF and it gets 5 stars.

U70%
by U####:

However when ever I load a PGN saved from this app in a viewer I only get half the game I played. Emailing the notation does work successfully. Still disappointed that I don't get the full game saved in PGN.

Does what it says on the tin. Not has a single issue with it!

Great app! Easy to use!

I use this app to record games/positions, and for what it does, it is great. It is a shame that it is not allowed to record games in congresses, local leagues etc, at least in England, and this is a serious flaw, as the app is clearly aimed at serious chess players.

Alas... Another abandoned chess app that had lots of potential.

I love what this app is I have been using it to record correspondence games. Unfortunately I have an issue when I exit the app, come back later, resume a game and pices are either back to a previous position or have simply vanished. Forcing me to replay the moves back in a fresh game. Fortunately the recorded moves are correct so I haven't lost the game information completely.

One has to load a whole game if you log a few moves for later u can't continue ...waste

Q70%

I went onto it and it just did nothing

I've used this app before and had good results. Today (2.5.15) I was using it to record an OTB game with a fellow musician and player I haven't seen in a long while. In the middle of the first game the app froze, went back to the starting position, and then would not let me load any more moves. Grrr......Pencil and paper seem to be the only real choice.

Great potential but needs some updating.. i love the idea.

I really want to like this app more, but it needs piece sets, built-in airplane mode for tournament games, and config option to export where you want.

L70%

it's a very handy app and the author supports any kind of issue that may arise! he cares about refining his app!

K70%

Bought this app twice and the second time it did confirmed its uselessness and bad coding by crashing a lot.

Z70%

Great tools to review GM games.

Z70%
by Z####:

I bought this so I can use it to keep track of games I play for official correspondence chess via email. The application doesn't make it easy to do. I need to be able to start and stop multiple games. If that happens it is a 5 star application.

Edition 1.1 seems graphically better than 3.3 other than that, very useful. If graphics improve definate 5 star app.

old comment: Enjoyed this app til it quit working after the upgrade to Android 4.3. I uninstalled/reinstalled it, and even less of it functioned. Update: I thought the author was not responding, but he did, and he fixed it, and it is back to being the best android tournament recorder. I'll give it 5 stars when he adds fields for Site and Round to the summary /header (at present, the Site is output as blank in the pgn file, but there is not yet a way to input it at game time).

In all Android store you cannot find an app similar to this one. This is the only chess notation app that I have found. Chess notation is only good for serious players. Hence less enthusiasm towards developing such app. Yet you did this and keep updating & upgrading. Kudos to you for such an effort.

I just started using the app. Right now I am just using it as an opening repertoire rather than recording full games. I realize that this was not the intended function, but it works for me. However, it would be nice if it had an edit feature within the practice mode.

S70%

I wish I could save and resume games that span days, such as postal chess games. If I could do that I would rate it 5 stars.

X70%
by X####:

Heck with over priced monroi. This is a buck. Now that it has tourney mode should be able to use in rated play. Best way to improve is go over your games. I always make mistakes when i hand write my annotation. Now i dont have to worry. Best dollar I ever spent!

Can't find export and import forces close. Needs to fix the problems with USCF compliance. Would love to use this in a large tournament. Needed: 1. Time stamps removed for tournament mode. 2. Move legality checking for tournament removed. 3. This is the hard one but a way to not allow closing/leaving board at all during tournament AND practice game. Either locking program so it cannot be closed or penalties like program refuses to start tourney or practice game for 2-3 hours. Good start!

S70%

This Android app is outstanding. As a USCF player and tournament director, I'm pleased to see someone offer an affordable alternative to the Monroi device. I've been able to install the ynotate app successfully on 2 different devices, and the developer was kind enough to respond personally to my emails. This program is easily worth $2.99 or more. It is an unbelievable bargain at 99 cents.

Y70%

Using ynotate is easy, smooth, and affordable. however, when I asked if I could use this in the mid-america open, they said it was not approved. Great app, unfortunately was unable to use.

S70%
by S####:

Only thing it needs is to be larger on my tablet. My daughter keeps notation with this and has trouble pressing the tiny pieces since it only uses roughly one sixth of the screen. Other than this it's a very useful tool to help with taking notation.

Great app.only problem I can see after I email my game. Players ratings not display. If u can fix that.thx

H70%

No on-android (only) game save? Ridiculous. I need in-progress, resumeable games for my echess. Without my 'puter's involvment.

S70%

needs to get approved for tournament use, also a tablet size version would be nice(even if its extra) well worth the money thanks

Excellent app. All it needs are alternate piece and board selections. Good job Chandru!
