Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition for Android
Prefer it to Baldurs gate as I can roll all my characters. More combat orientated and less of a story, which allows me to focus on the bare D&D mechanics. Playing on moto g 3rd gen. There is a bug when casting group spells. For instance when casting bless the characters glow in a psychedelic hue. Apart from that, on a small screen its fine. You can increase font size and zoom in on the screen. The buttons are a little small and choosing spells can take a few attempts, pity interface can't be zoomed in. Edit : Finally completed it Jan 2017. Quick tip, Don't fight the last boss, do Heart of Winter and Trials of Luremaster (before last part) if you want to keep all your stuff. Top game.
I'd give this 5 stars, but it stopped working properly. I got through the hand, stopped playing for a while then jumped back on. The title screen is black, but if I guess where the options are, I can click stuff. The gameplay is fine, but I can't get a game going the way I want. I am using a galaxy S3, and would love to keep playing this game, I used to play this game way too much on PC.
It will not open. Just black screen and then shuts down. I have sent a couple reports. Will change to 5 stars when someone helps me get it to work. The online threads I've found are old. I don't want a refund, I want this to work. *Update* still no word from you guys through here or email....
Map does not load Easthaven. Can select it in map window red but can't move into it. All other locations working fine. Devs will respond to your bug after a week with a thanks and "please join our forum and post your save game there". Gee thanks for the fix. Terrible customer support. AVOID!!!!!!
This is great. I played through this so many times growing up. It is exactly the same game with a few tweets that make it that much better. Just as an fyi to anyone out there that gets confused about Easthaven. Once you leave, you can't go back, because the pass is snowed in. That is the second story break in the game.
I used to play this on the Note 5 and it ran beautifully. Now on my S7 Edge it is so slow its impossible to play without minimizing the right side character panels. This issue has been ongoing for almost a year, if not more. What is going on?? I would think that is more than enough time to fix this issue. This is a hell of a game that I have loved since I was a young kid. Now, after paying $10 for this game, I cant play. This is not right. At least put this warning in the description.
Impossible to play as touch recognition is of by half an inch. According to the support they received "100s of similar reports from users and passed them to the dev team". That was in December 2015 - now it is February 2016 and no fix. Unacceptable!!!
Played the original as a kid and then about every 2 years since.. Played this on PC, was not as good as the original, characters are less diverse, difficulty seems significantly decreased, even on the higher settings.. Then I played it on my phone and those things immediately didn't matter, I could just be somewhere and play Icewind dale.. Anyway, 4stars because some buttons near the edge of the screen do not always work, which gets frustrating and the characters seem to have lost around 2/3 of their vocab
So I had this on a tablet and loved it but now I play on a 6p. And I can't select doors in the prologue as well as character portraits on the right side of the screen. Very frustrating and makes up half the gameplay unfortunately.
Great that i can play this game on tablet without much hassle - but it is really a pain that i cant relocate most of it on the sd card. 2G+ on the device memory is painful, and I suspect that this can be solved with little effort. This is not a free game, please care about usability.
Thank you for bringing this to Android, thank you for making it installable on phones (in addition to tablets), thank you for the quality of your releases. I will continue to buy any of these you publish. Rock on! PS. Seems to work fine with Android Lollipop preview on Nexus 5.
Game is so laggy it's almost unplayable. I've tried running CM to clean up the system, cache and RAM. Also ran a game booster and still despite all of that it still plays at barely more than a crawl. It's unfortunate as this is an amazing game I'd love to replay.
Good 'ol Icewind dale. One thing I don't get is how do you see item stats in shops or your inventory? I think it was right-click on PC...
I'm using a Galaxy Note 4, so not a small phone, and I have perfect vision. The text is uncomfortably small, the red text is the worst to read. I've had to take it off my phone and put it on my tablet, where it is much better. A shame because I like the original PC version and it would have been nice to play on my moby.
All the touch inputs are off. I have to click way above each item to select it. Great game but almost in possible to play without getting extremely frustrated. Using a pixel c.
On V20, go to game battery saver in settings, select optimization by game, set resolution to normal rather than max. Click away accurately. Sad that devs don't bother to look for a fix, as I had to figure this out on my own, but at least I can play again.
I've had the game for a week and suddenly it wants a WiFi connection but when I have WiFi the app says starting but it never actually does, and when I don't have WiFi it says the download is paused while it waits for WiFi. It worked fine for the first 4 days.
Let's start with one issue and it's a me issue more than anything. Touch screen can be a pain at times but that's just me. I've played through it a couple of times using full groups, 2 man group and a 3 man group and it's still extremely fun. Finding cool gear that I can't use makes me want to play through as a different class to use them. Try weird party compositions for some crazy battles and have a time. I do miss the story elements of baldurs gate but I can just go play that if I want more story.
I tell people, "Back in the day, we used to play Icewind Dale on pc." They would respond, "What kind of game is that?". Now I can show them on my phone and tablets...
Everything is off kilter. Everything is pushed to the left or right. I'm using an LG G5. I'm giving three stars only because of the fact that its Ice wind Dale.
As much as I loved this game on the pc, it is just so crazy slow on my S7 I'm not sure it's really meant for a phone. Android tablets probably would be a better platform for this
I love this game, but graphics don't seem to be displaying correctly on my One Plus 3 device. Certain spells that apply a glowing effect to a character are distorted into a multitude of rainbow colours that look completely off, and area spells like fireball cause it to chug like nothing else. It's almost unplayable, and I had no way to know that until the combat really started to ramp up. Hopefully this gets addressed in a future patch.
The touch recognition is way off toward the right of the screen due to soft buttons auto hiding in full screen mode. They're is no work around...
Anyone not liking this game should have done there research before purchase. It's by far the best port I've seen on the play store. Game play is true to form to the PC version and dad been adapted well to a touch screen format. Recommend to anyone who likes a little nostalgia from the early turn based hack 'n' slash days!
Was (slightly) worried about the text font sizes on my phone, but they provided a way to change it (unlike the shadowrun games). Zoom if nice too. Only issues: - screen touch accuracy is sometimes off by a few cm
When I start the game it's all good but when words are supposed to be on the pieces of wood, they're not there, they're just square things the characters are are square things aswell, please help!
This game helped CREATE the rpg genre as it is today. Do your research, talk to people who played this on the PC back in the day, and look at the level of investment required for this, as opposed to those pick up and play RPGs throughout the store
Map does not load Easthaven. Can select it in map window red but can't move into it. All other locations working fine. Devs refuse to respond or fix. Beamdog fail.
I bought this game awhile back and played it then, however iv just reinstalled it and when I try to play it, it keep saying that "the download fail because I may not have purchased the game", it still says in my order history that I have purchased it
The game itself is splendid, 5/5 when it comes to non-action oriented hack'n'slash cRPG. Still, the conversion is far from perfect, with Beamdog pissing on my continuous emails about the app fake install on an SD card (it takes over 2GB on the phone/tablet). Still, it's a bloody awesome game. Nevertheless, I beg you to do one thing. Buy it ONLY on sale, buy never for the full price. They don't deserve that much cash for a port (NOTHING is enhanced, trust me).
Very well done port. Almost seems like the game was originally made to play on a touch screen interface. If you like isometric pc rpg and haven't played this yet or you want to play again I highly recommend this game. $3 for potentially hundreds of hours of gaming. Character and party customization is nearly limitless. Uses 2nd edition DnD rules and beautiful old school 2d sprites. Only issue is it can be hard to read on small displays at high res and a stylus is almost required.
I love this game! I spent countless hours playing this in the early 2000s. The controls are easy enough to understand and the text is legible on my LG V10. I don't if I'd be able to read it on a smaller screen, they are not kidding when they say this is meant for tablets. If you've got a tablet or phablet I can't recommend this game enough.
This was the ultimate game to build the perfect party and run them through countless times gathering the best loot. Final battle was harder than I remembered on the PC from years ago. One of my fave along with BG1&2. Still playing after months and keeping putting together ultimate parties for multiple run throughs. Pros: Voice acting has a pretty great variety. Creating epic god like party hacking across the ten-town area Still visually good after years. Great linear story line. Awesome extra races / classes / weapons added from vanilla. Cons: None...don't complain about the price...this game will last.
I love this. Compared to Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, it's more linear, and your party characters are not relevant to the story. But in terms of gameplay, atmosphere and scale it's better still. The combat is just perfectly weighted. Anyway, buy it. There's plenty of PDF manuals available online for those complaining that they don't understand how to play. I've been playing on a Note 4, and while a bigger screen would definitely be better, it is totally playable on my phone. Amazing work, Beamdog. Thanks!
I played this game as a child right when it first came out... It was nice to see this game come to Android. Even on an older phone (Samsung Galaxy S3), this port looks wonderful, sounds wonderful, and runs wonderfully, no framerate or performance issues. However, it is difficult to play with the size of the interface on a small screen, but that is more of a limitation that results from the sheer size of the game, not lazy design. Must buy for tablets, but phone users may be frustrated by this trivial issue.
While the storyline and graphics are exceptional, the interface and application stability is lacking. I am using a Nexus 10 with the latest Android update and find that I have to restart my tablet in between playing sessions. Whenever I close the app and subsequently restart it, many of the icons fail to register my selecting them. Playing becomes impossible because the user interface is non-responsive without a power-down and restart of my tablet. It would also be nice if the screen and interface adjusted for display size. Selecting npcs to talk to becomes a chore because finding the sweet spot to select them is guesswork. Another issue is spell icons in your character's tomes are not labeled so I never know what spell I'm selecting from the quick pick or spellslot allocation sections. This makes surviving combat especially difficult since selecting the right spell for the situation becomes guesswork as well.
I was super excited for this when I found this, an awesome blast from the past. BUT I waited for the 2.5gb to install just to have it go to a black screen when a .5 second sound and then it says error. I'm debating if I should immediately ask for a refund or see if beamdog can redeem themselves.
Blows the typical mobile game away in every category (other than graphics, which are pretty dated). There is a huge fan base for this game on pc for good reason, and this is a very faithful port. Best 2 bucks I've spent in a looong time.
even on low difficulty it's nearly impossible to get any where

Hi I enjoy the game but for some reason alot of the spells my cleric and conjurer cast make a rainbow effect on the PCs they cast on. Any ideas how to fix? Thx for your time. Update wrote this way back in January, has their been a fix for it yet on my new tablet alotta spells that are defensive just leave a rainbow effect on my party member.
