Baldur's Gate II for Android
The original game Baldur's Gate 2 - Shadows of Amn was the best CRPG for the ages, truly impressive. As a true fan of the series I can only doubt it was it worthwhile to add new content in this Enhanced Edition, when the original was already so good? It's a bonus at best but it makes me think could the devs have spent the time in perfecting the port in every platform it's released on, instead?
Updated review; first download took 6+ hours and didn't work, kept crashing. Uninstalled and couldn't reinstall, kept dropping download. I've got a good data connection btw. Left it alone for a few days. Downloaded it in 2 hours, game crashed again but this time I got it going by tapping the screen while it loaded on open. Somehow got the game to start. Happy to have it. Nice throw back PC game on phone.
I love this game, I have it on my Android PHONE!! Kind of hard to press buttons but not impossible, on my third play through already,. Next up, dual class thief and mage. Includes watchers keep and throne of bhaal so plenty of level up time. Well worth 10$. I bought it for 50$ for computer, not including watchers keep and throne of bhaal
You can only play this with an S-pen because as a pc game port to touch screen it's not super accurate but the pen solves that problem and makes the game perfect! Probably better than when played with a mouse. Can't use the hot keys without a keyboard either but you can Bluetooth a keyboard to your Android so it's all good.
Among the most quality, classic, and entertaining games ever made, NOW IN MY POCKET! with improvements and more, I applaud everything about this! UPDATE: THE NEW BLACK PITS GAME KEEPS CRASHING DURING BATTLES! VERY FRUSTRATING FOR SUCH A GOOD GAME.
Nexus 10. Unplayable. The top and bottom strips of the game window are hidden off the top and bottom edges of the screen. The main combat tool bar is off the bottom of the screen. Touch issues too, have to touch above the button. Considering similar issues have been reported on other hardware feel like i have been ripped off. Really disappointed.
Anybody have any idea how to fix the fact that the touch seems to be calibrated wrong? Just this app, I have to touch to the left of anything I want to select. Any help would be so apprexiated, so I could enjoy this game :-)
I'm useing a Samsung Galaxy s7 and the game hardly moves with more than 4 or 5 people on the screen at the same time I even changed the developer settings to try to help and nothing helps it just moves sooo slow takes a few seconds per swing
There is literally one problem with this game...okay, two: sometimes it gets stuck on launch and if it decides to update when you're off network, you're hosed until you're back on. That's it! The rest is pure Baldur's Gate DnD awesomeness!
I love this game but, it has now been over a year and there has still not been an update to fix touch screen issues. Now my Nexus 6P, Pixel C and Chromebook Pixel all have the same issue with this game and Ice Wind Dale. Now I see news that you're developing a new game and yet I can't play what I've payed for. COME ON, BEAMDOG!
I never played Baldurs gate back in the day but now I'm a massive fan of it. It is seriously the best game you can buy for mobile, nothing beats the indepth characters and massive story. I was kinda worried at first how it would play on my HTC 10 but the buttons are easy enough to hit and the gameplay is smooth as.
The game works well on my old LG G2 but lags too much on my S7 edge, to the point it is unplayable. I've looked around and found that others had the same issues on newer devices, but there have been no updates to fix this. I really enjoy this game and it's unfortunate that they still haven't tried to fix this issue yet.
Fantastic game! The only drawback being the controls. On devices with virtual on screen buttons (app drawer, back and home button) we need to tap next to what we actually want to tap on the screen. So frustrating. Any help to be coming?
I love RPGs and Id like to think of myself as a pretty good player... at least high-average these sorts of games atract the smartest of people so I wont say Im all that awesome..but..this games pretty hard.. and it takes a while to get going..that said its rewarding . Everything you put into this game is well worth it.
Enjoying the game greatly! I am having recurring touch screen problems within the game though, keep having to restart to solve it. As a side note, a Dragonborn fighter sub class might be cool to see in the future.
I've played this game countless times and it always feels different every time. Got the original the day it came out, and still playing
As others have stated, on the Google Pixel C tablet (and maybe other devices?), you have to tap above or to the side of what you actually want to tap (in my case I have to tap above buttons, characters ...). So far the game is still usable once I figured this out, but I haven't gotten too far into the game yet. This needs to be fixed.
I love this game! I spent countless hours playing this in the early 2000s. The controls are easy enough to understand and the text is legible on my LG V10. I don't if I'd be able to read it on a smaller screen, they are not kidding when they say this is meant for tablets. If you've got a tablet or phablet I can't recommend this game enough.
There's a lot to love. First, if you played the original, this is just as good with extras. Granted, it's a bit harder to see everything, but it's what happens when you take a computer game and make it available for a phone. Beamdog has brought additional characters, adventures, magic items, portraits and voices to the game to expand the character creation. Some expansions are dull (like the arena unless you love grinding) but more of this rpg is on the way. It's truly the best classic game reborn.
This game is a MUST-have for any rpg lover. The D&D mechanics may seem i bit weird in the beginning, but you will learn in time. The replayability value of this game is almost infinite. Personally I have never played any kind of game that would allow me to play as many hours in so many different ways. The game excels in its easy to handle mechanics, fun dialogue, compelling story, great ammount of side-quests that are actually enjoyable. Hands down best Apk for this platform. Worth every penny.
I would have given it 5 stars, but I have to go to application manager and force shut the game down to open it next time I want to play. Saves are always there when I reboot it though, so not too much trouble. But a fix would be appreciated!
Hi. I got almost 2 hours into it...but i can't use the map to get out of the area. Also i can not make my own character ( best part) because i can't input a name at the end of character creation. The rest of the game worked very well, except i am stuck where the game puts you after the first hour. I love being able to play this again, just wish i could. Help!!!!
I love this game however when I try to purchase the dlc from inside the game its greyed out. There isnt a way for me to buy the extra content and when I contacted beamdog they told me its a google play issue. The issue stands as a beamdog issue as there is no link to google play. Fix your dlc issues and I will rate 5 stars.
One of my all time favourites back in the day. It's real shame the experience is crippled by annoying touchscreen issues on the Pixel C. If I want to tap on anything on the screen, I need to aim above what I am actually tapping. For example, in the inventory screen, I need to tap above the item i want to select because aiming exactly at the item you want will select the item directly below it. Using a mouse doesn't help because I still need to click above what I am actually trying to select. Please fix.
Well, this game was like the best, back in the '90's. But, it's like anything was back then. It's just OLD... It's not any better, it's just older now. I LOVED that game waay back in the '90's, but that was just like a pearl back then. I would have given it more stars if it were better. Well, I guess that it was on a PC vs. a smartphone. So think of that B4 U buy it!
Getting this game onto a cell phone was an amazing feat and deserves 5 stars. I've played it for many hours and thoroughly enjoyed it. The only caveat is that you really need to play it on a galaxy Note with an s-pen - or some similar device. Trying to play with finger touch (at least with my fat fingers) is asking for frustration.
I have missed this game.... they don't make em like this anymore. Amazing port. Just needs a tweak on map exits and containers bouncing everywhere when depositing. ... that aside... when are you porting NeverWinter Nights over?
Bought it for my tablet as I had already bought and played the first one and remember them from my childhood on the pc. This doesn't work on the tablet. Won't open . Just a black screen that then closes. Refund please.
This is the first rpg I went back and played multiple times. Once you get down the mechanics of the game and learn that pause is you best friend. This game becomes close to a real D&D game. All the games done by Beamdog are super awesome. I hope the new one gets ported to Android eventually.
I was very much looking forward to playing this. However there is a touch screen issue on tablets making you have to touch to the top left of the button you available want to click. This makes the play experience very difficult and it needs to be fixed. For the asking price of the game i feel that's more than fair.
I truly love this game it introduced me to RPGs so when it came out on android I snapped it up. I had no problems on me HTC one m8 but since I upgraded to a Nexus 6p i have to touch to the left of what I want to click I emailed the developers and was told there is no fix for this issue but there MIGHT be at some vague point in the future. Not good enough beamdog!!
Fantastic game that runs really well however the touch controls register slightly to the right of where you actually touch making the game extremely hard to play and impossible to enjoy. Fix this problem and its an easy five stars from me. Playing on a nexus 6.
Doing mazzy quest where her sister is poisoned but the dialogue with Wallace won't mention anything about the love potion, he just tries to sell me stuff. Mazzy is in my part when I'm trying to talk to him and I'm using her to initiate dialogue but no luck :c
I loved Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition, but the sequel has major touch problems on Pixel C tablets (and perhaps other devices as well). In order to select an object, a menu entry or a dialog option you have to touch about half an inch above the item, which is a major nuisance. This wasn't a problem in BG1EE. Now I see that other users face the exact same problem and I don't understand why this isn't being fixed. After a few days of trying I essentially stopped playing the game, because it is just too frustrating. Very disappointing, because I like the game as such.
If i can get it to actually download. I've tried it on both of my Phones and it stays at nothing on both. Not even beginning the download. Big fan of baldur's gate, practically grew up on it. 2 stars for nostalgia factor despite dl issue.
I bought it and it won't run on my tablet or phone. Force crashes every time. Will be expecting either some quick fixes or a refund Pronto. Very unimpressed
Love this game, but got a new Note 7 and now it runs about 1 frame a second. Also has the same issue on the original Baldur's Gate.
Downloaded on Moto X Play and was a little unhappy with small icons, so I loaded on slightly larger Moto X Style with better processor and graphics but responsiveness went down, so it is currently very hard to execute them. Reverting to Play is impossible as it downloads something and loading on my tablet is blocked . Would love to love this game, but even Phablet screens are too small for this game and it should not be made available for phones until it gets worked over. Would love to love this game like
I wish you would just add the cheat file for the game. i don't remember having to use a text editor, alas not all devices are equal when it comes to managing files. Especially IPads! I would pay to have downloadable cheat files. Even on easy some fights are way too tough, especially when you don't know what level you need to be to complete it. Maybe add some explorer gear packs for your fav characters.

BGII was definitely a breakthrough in its time, but it still holds charm and depth that many newer games can't even touch. I have this game for the Samsung Galaxy s7 Edge and I can tell the chip set on the phone is grinding gears with the games engine. It's playable but only when the right character menu is minimized but it still gets choppy when multiple spells are being cast. With the specs on the s7 this shouldn't be the case. Hey Developers any input/ advice on how to solve this issue?
