I haven't finished the kanji, but does it only have kanji quiz? Not vocabulary? Btw, the app is great though! It helps me into learning kanji.

I love the app overall but please add the number of strokes of each kanji and fix the quiz section. 25 questions isn't enough, especially when its the same 3 kanji coming up over and over again. And add more quiz options for example a vocabulary quiz and maybe one on the kanji readings or one where you're given the meaning and need to pick the character. Other than that, fantastic app!

I absolutely love it. It's userfriendly and everything. I do have a question though, and maybe it's because I'm not looking hard enough, but how do I quiz for the vocabulary, if that's possible? Because I see they have the red hearts so that meas they're quizzable, right? All that's available is the kanji translation quiz. Thanks!

I'm seeing a white screen in the kanji quiz after answering 1 question , I'm using a Nexus 5 running 6.0.1

C70%
by C####:

Great! The only thing I think that could be improved is the quiz system, it seems to be that the programmetried to make some sort of spaced repetition which is great for mnemonics but in this case wasn't coded very well, mainly because the quiz only shows 25 witch does not left much space for spaced repetition, other forms of self testing would greatly received too like one with the readings, and a section with the radicals.

Perfect for learning language. Also it's free and there is no Annoying Ads.

The best kanji app I've used, though I think some more test modes should be added. For example, to choose from several kanji or to choose the right reading, something like that.

Doesnt show the order, direction or number of the strokes. Really something so basic for kanji learning and its not even shown. Will change rating if fixed

The quiz doesn't work, after answering the first one the nest one doesn't have any answers to continue, forcing me to quit the quiz. Please fix it.

Muito bom, devo dizer que saber inglês é essenssial pois muitas aplicações são voltadas para o mesmo, amo estudar japonês, porém reconheço que o inglês é indispensável.

For quiz, for those who have small android phone, we must scroll up to find the answer. I mean the choices is too much.

C70%

Easily the best kanji app I've tried. (Just wish the vocabulary part used larger font)

C70%
by C####:

It's simply the best app I've ever had on my phone. As someone aspiring to be a graphic designer, first thing I looked at was layout – it's simple, but clear and very aesthetic. Then, of course, I looked at kanji itself and I was stunned. Not only there's a complete list of Jouyou Kanji, we have also additional characters and we have a translation, On' and Kun'Yomi readings as well as examples of each character used in a combination of word. It's simply the best kanji app available! Thank you!

C70%
by C####:

First kanji app I found that actually shows me all the kanji right from the start without having to search them myself one by one. It's just soo much easier and comfortable to simply scroll down the list and review them as you see them, only tapping a kanji when your eyes tell you so. The Quiz format is great and I love that you can see the readings right after your answer in that little bottom window. Beautiful design, immediate interface, actually useful features. Perfect for JLPT kanji learners and reviewers.

C70%
by C####:

This app is great, all the way down to its design, ergonomics, GUI, and feel. There's nothing wrong with the app in the last few weeks I've had it and it's good at helping a person learn the kanji as it helps you keep track of what you've done and provides and expansive vocabulary for you to work with. I can't praise it enough! But to reap it's benefits you will need to put in time.

C70%
by C####:

Virtues of this app are in the UI, as described above. Seems to work OK, except cannot stay in the selected list when screen orientation changes (always resets to N5). But as for usefulness... with just one type of quizz (incidentally, one I need the least) doesn't carry this app very far and certainly cannot make the Obenkyo obsolete, as quircky as its UI may be. I will try to revisit this app in the future to see if it has grown in functionality, but for now, this is one quizz (with apparently no learning algorithms in it for intelligent frequency) is just not useful for me.

C70%
by C####:

It looks nice. But the quiz section is just so terrible. If I want to quiz myself on all 79 JLPT-5 kanji, I don't want to see the same 5 asked over and over again. And I want 79 questions, not 25. I don't learn anything with these 'quizzes'. Again, it looks nice. But that's not enough for me to keep it. There are several other kanji apps with better quiz systems. I'll stick with those.

C70%
by C####:

The UI is nice and pretty easy, though I didn't know that I had to click on "marked as learned" twice before it was considered as learned. And then when I did the quiz three different times, it would crash just as soon as I finish the last kanji. It's kind of frustrating. I also didn't understand the difference between a filled heart and an empty heart. I like that kanji's from N5 to N1 are in the app though, but I think some instructions are needed.

C70%
by C####:

I love how this app lets you pickup what Kanji you want to learn and how aesthetiscally organized it is. Comparing with other kanji apps, it lets you study kanji at your own pace. Especially for advanced learners who just wants to concentrate their review on characters they are not familiar with.

Just downloaded it and a little disappointed there is no stroke order, either by displaying it in real time or simply numbered. I understand you recommend another app for it and that is commendable, but having your own version, with of course "proper" stroke order, would do nothing but make an already great app even better. I am only giving this three stars for now, not only due to no stroke order, but because I have not tried this app in depth to be fair for the better or for the worse. (I have to rate in order to comment.) Even if the stroke order is never implented I will probably raise it to 4 stars, unless I find something crippling. Add proper stroke order and you definitely get 5 stars and recommendations.

Overall really great app--it's the only kanji app that's worked for me so far. One thing though, the quiz usually glitches and the answer options don't show so I have to reset it each time. Please fix, thanks!

but there's this one thing that's really bugging me. Whenever my screen turns the app just closes itself and it can be pretty annoying if you're in the middle of a quiz.

I really like this app. It's amazing for starting out to Kanji, as well as mastering it, learning vocabulary with the words that are used most often, as well as words that are not used often. You can click on the different Kanji to get a better understanding of which each Kanji mean to decipher a word, such as a word like 「音楽」音 means sound, and 楽 means comfort, ease, music. From those, you can see that it literally means "sound comfort", aka music. Which, personally, is how I prefer to learn Japanese vocabulary, and I think it's very nice to have an app that does that. Pros: -Completely free, no pay gates. -Allows for in depth knowledge of Kanji, their meanings and their usage in forming a word (as explained in my introductory statement). -Kun and on readings -Features a Kanji translation quiz, which asks a meaning of the Kanji and you answer multiple choice. You can choose to quiz yourself on N5, N4, N3, N2, N1, or "additional", individually, or altogether. -Intuitive grading system, where based upon the amount you answer the question correctly, it will less frequently appear in the quizzes. And, in the study section, it will give you a different colored heart depending on how well you understand a Kanji meaning, so you can easily find which Kanji you may be having trouble with. Cons: -No integrated vocabulary test -No "note" section, so you can jot down ideas of a specific Kanji meaning, such as 川. I could be able to write down a personal meaning, something like "splitting paths of flowing water", making it easier to remember the kanji, a very petty con, but it's something I would personally like. Some sugguestions: I realize this is strictly a Kanji app, however, I also believe it could add in possible sentence structures so you can get the context of how a sentence would be structured and what kind of meaning it would be portrayed in a gramatically correct Japanese sentence. I believe some of definitions are vague or ambiguous, resorting myself to look to outside sources for what it actually means, such as「 以 」, which means, by means of, because of, compared with, in view of. If I could get a sentence, I would be better able to understand the meaning of the word without having to look to outside sources. Overall, an amazing kanji-learning app that I highly recommend!

Everything is great as far as i can tell, but the quiz is terrible, after the first question there is a bug where the options to select for the kanji won't show up, i am using a samsung s5 if you want to fix the bug. I will keep my rating as 2 stars until this problem is solved

C70%
by C####:

Great app overall, but there are two relatively minor issues. First, whenever I tilt the screen the app crashes. Second, when I check the setting to turn romaji off, some romaji still remains; the readings of kanji characters in romaji disappears, but the readings of vocabulary that contain the character in romaji don't. I like to read the pronunciation in kana to improve my kana reading speed, however my eyes are instantly drawn to the romaji rather than the kana to the side of the vocabulary word. In my opinion, turning off romaji should turn off romaji _everywhere_, not just some places.

K70%
by K####:

Great app, very detailed but I have a problem. When you click on a detail of a kanji and go back a page it should leave off where you were on the list of related kanji so you don't have to scroll all the way down to find where you left off.

C70%
by C####:

hide romaji doesn't seem to work. Romaji is too distracting when you know hiragana.

C70%
by C####:

This one is quite good, but it keeps break down when I do quiz, or not show any option to choose. Please fix this so I will make it 5 star

C70%
by C####:

This exactly what I've been looking for, I never understood why words would have kanji and then follow with hiragana. I now understand what the meaning of the kanji is and why it is useful

C70%
by C####:

I will give it full pot if it stops crashing while doing the quiz, also the list of N5 is duplicated. Great app overall.

C70%
by C####:

Was having a real hard time learning kanji, till i installed this app. Must install for all you jap learners. 10/7.

D70%

I'm using zenfone 8. After choosing the first choice, the second question's multiple choice appear for a very short while and then disappearing, making me unable to choose any answer. After fiddling with the options, I believe for others who have similar issues, you just need to activate the animation option for quiz. As others say, this app is pretty neat visually. By the way, will there be from meaning to kanji and from kanji to kana/romaji for further development?
