Itchy's Alphabet Vowel Sounds

Short vowel sounds are tricky for children to discriminate between!! Itchy and his vowel friends, apple, Eddie elephant, Ollie octopus and upside-down umbrella will help children master these ever-so-important skills. After playing this game, your child will be able to hear the vowel sounds in the middle of words, say and print them accurately by connecting these sounds to the correct lower case letter, every time!


In this app, children will
• see a picture of an object and the 5 vowel picture cues and letters
• hear the word for the object
• choose the correct letter to correspond with the vowel sound they hear in the middle of the words
• receive positive reinforcement from Itchy if they are correct
• receive encouragement from Itchy if they are incorrect
• hear the word repeated if they choose an incorrect letter
• have the option to choose from up to 32 pictures for /a/, 21 pictures for /e/, 32 pictures for /i/, 27 pictures for /o/ and 30 pictures for /u/
• have the option to select all the vowels or select any number of specific letters to practice
• receive their score and a final positive reinforcement upon completion
