About Mage the Ascension: Refuge

The groundbreaking roleplaying game Mage: The Ascension manifests in our turbulent present with Refuge, an interactive fiction written by critically-acclaimed author Karin Tidbeck.

Set in modern-day Sweden, Mage: Refuge lets you experience today's social and political upheavals while awakening to the power of True Magick - the ability to shape reality itself through your force of belief. Many will try to recruit you into a secret war where human consensus itself is the battlefield. Your actions and choices will have profound consequences on the world and people around you... assuming madness and Paradox doesn't claim you first.

Safety or sacrifice - the choice is yours.

Don't forget to check out Vampire: We Eat Blood, also by White Wolf and written by award-winning author Zak Smith and Sara Horrocks.

Entertaining and well made

This completely ignores the core premise of magick in Mage as flowing from belief. It shows fundamental misunderstanding of the basis for paradigm as detailed in the most recent editions of the game and more unfortunately casts the ecstatic as ignoring consent. The scene with the ecstatic has a meager nod to consent WAY later in that scene than was appropriate. If this is the direction White Wolf is going with the property then I'm happy to buy the rest of what's coming out of the M20 line and call it a day.

I like to read and play. It takes me intp the world of magick. I only disappointed for length of game. It is a little bit short. I wait for its sequal.

T70%
by T####:

Played through it several times. It's pretty good! Only problem is that screen transitions skip a paragraph of text. Spoilers!!! It makes reading the ending of the paradox visions or deaths impossible. Devs please fix!

Z70%
by Z####:

Great story, and fewer "game over try again" results than the vampire one. Looking forward to the next game along this line. I hope they do Wraith the Oblivion or Changeling the Lost next.

U70%
by U####:

Good setting and writing. Too short, sadly (for the price).

Z70%
by Z####:

Great and engaging text game that also lools pretty nice. The writing is great, but I just wish it was a bit longer.

Z70%
by Z####:

Short but enjoyable. Very much like the RPG in feel.

Z70%
by Z####:

Awesome game, though a bit short, especially for the price.

N70%
by N####:

Loved the writing, the setting the atmosphere and even the screen effects, but overall a little bit too short. I hope that they add more chapters in the future, then I will give it a 5 stars.

Z70%
by Z####:

Five bucks isn't horrible for a choose your own adventure book. And the writing isn't terrible. But it would be nice if it explicitly said that's what we were getting, and didn't masquerade as a mobile game.

Z70%
by Z####:

Short, but well-written. I would love to play through more chapters.
