Carcassonne: Official Board Game -Tiles & Tactics for Android
Good start, and it shows a lot of promise. Obviously looking forward to additional expansions. Other things that would help usability and/or gameplay: - pinch zoom is not sensitive enough, at least on my 2 devices (Pixel and Acer Chromebook R11) - would like to be able to zoom out much more to get better overview of full gameboard without excessive scrolling - crisper 2D graphics with more prominent features (particularly monasteries and gardens) on tiles so they stand out better (could care less about 3D) - meeples would also be easier to see if a bit larger - on screen buttons and player/score banners could be a bit smaller to make more space available to see tiles - ability to disable "auto zooming" during gameplay - ability to speed up animations - dead tiles probably shouldn't be shown based on the current tile being played until that tile is committed, especially if remaining tiles list is disabled Thanks for picking up the Carcassonne banner! It was sad watching it stagnate under Exozet. Glad this is now with a developer who will continue to do something with it!
It's Carcassonne, nice 'official' game app, shame that the river expansion had to be paid (usually free with physical game these days) for but otherwise not bad. A little silly that the farm feature was made optional, but a sensible option for beginners. All in all it is what you expect from Carcassonne, keep up the good work!
Enjoying the digital version more than my physical copy. One problem, I can't figure out how to place farmers? The option just never becomes available.
I enjoyed the previous version of this game. This version is slow the "enhanced" interface make it harder to see what is happening and regularly skips past my decisions. If you have the previous version stick with that.
Really good, excellent adaptation, except for a few issues: 1) Should use Google Play Games instead of another proprietary service, 2) Needs an option to disable the timer on multiplayer and notify when it's your turn. Asynchronous multiplayer is difficult if you don't know when it's your turn and completely broken if you automatically forfeit because you've got an extremely limited amount of time to complete the entire game.
Love the Carcassonne app from the one game I played. Very pretty. It is a little weird how fields aren't turned on by default, but I can look past it.
So here are all my thoughts that would give this five stars. Add a top down view. The 3d view is hard on the eye. (Edit: found the button) Flags around completed cities aren't really needed but rather just something that takes clutters the field and probably uses hardware resource. The original game tile graphics look way better and more classic. I also hope to see at least "Traders & Builders" and "Inns & Cathedrals" expansions in the future. The base game has a bit too little cards in my opinion. Haven't tried online multiplayer but I will see around to it. Edit 2: Could do with an option to add friends during gameplay.
Description makes it seem that The River is free. Also, the support page says that is will be offered for free for the first 30 days after launch. Was surprised to see it wasn't free.
The description is misleading. Based on the discription, i I thought the river expansion was also included with the purchase of the game.
Seems good so far. Disappointed that it does not include the river expansion.
Very well made, nice graphics on a classic board layout. Plays very nicely! The rules seem pretty complex at first but the more you play the easier it gets and eventually you'll understand it! Would definitely reccomend :)
Great having a new properly supported version of Carcassonne back on the market. The AI seems stronger than previous version from Exozet which is great, but the graphics aren't as attractive in my opinion nor do they suit the aesthetic of the game in the same way. I find the "3D" view is hard to read/use, so I'm glad there's a top-down option as well. Looking forward to lots of lovely expansions coming soon anyway, nice work so far!
A great implementation. A few improvements needed in setting up online games (I. E. Making it so you don't have to stay online while the game fills) p.s. All these people saying th should have saying they should get The River for free... How entitled! It's only an extra pound!
The map tiles are far too busy and garish, so the option to switch to a more traditional skin would be great. I'd be happy to pay for different options. I like the toggle for showing who owns fields. The 3d view seems pretty pointless.
I like this version a lot better than the old one. The online play works great and replaces players with AI if they quit. There's not been any problem finding an opponent or two right now either. Looking forward to more expansions.
Not bad, though rivers should have been included for free as it was in other versions of the game. 3D doesn't add much to the experience but having a decent multiplayer community would, as well as expansions. With a game as well-established as this, more expansions are needed before this can replace the Exozet version and come close the ???? one.
+1 Star for Responsiveness of Devs and pointing out how to do the things I complained about previously; would be a better UI design if it was easier to figure out. Still docking 1 star because the App really drains my battery and overheats the phone (need to work on its power consumption). It's a good implementation of a great board game. Previous Review: Would be better if I can turn off 3D and I can't figure out how to claim / score fields.
So glad carcassonne is back on Android. There are some great features that this version brings. Graphics are great. Very reasonably priced. Hoping they keep adding expansion packs to catch up with the ios version. Thanks for bringing the version to Android.
Great game. Runs invthe background 100% of the time with constant crash notifications.
Carcassonne is a wonderful game, but The River should have been included for free too! :(
Excellent game! Needs more tile variety, although seasoned player's are taking about missing rivers..
Doesn't connect. I've been trying for days but it always just says there's an error when I try to log into my Asmodee account.
Works great! I love playing this board game so my husband and I downloaded the app. I have no complaints, it works just like I want it to.
The app is great, it's only 4 stars because scoring is not super transparent at the end of the game.
This is a beautiful implementation of the board game. Works really well, well designed, a few really good play enhancements. No complaints at all!
Unlike the physical game the two expansions River and Abbott are not part of this game. Otherwise it is a great game.
I'm just waiting for the ghost meeble.
Amazing digital version of this classic board game.
Great rendition of the classic board game!
Great game for Carcassonne addicts.
Ponderous s-l-o-w
Good example of the game
Very intuitive
Plays and looks great. I don't know whats the fuss about keeping it 2d. Game looks gorgeous in 3d. Plus you can easily see all the meeples with it jumping cutely around. Couple of suggestions would be; chat history in match, kind of sucks it keeps getting cleared when you reenter a match; and the animation when you do, would be super cool if we can skip that.
Changed my review up to 4 stars! Dev responded immediately to my previous review, it looks like fields are available....but for some reason disabled and hidden away in the settings. Still a shame that you have to pay for the river as the description makes it seem like its included. The game is great, and now that I've found fields is the best version of Carcassonne. Thanks for getting back to me devs.
Great game although I much prefer the 2d view, I'm glad it can be changed. Let's hope we get all the expansions this time. There seems to be a problem as every time I open the app I have to sign in to my asmodee account again. This also happens on the steam version. Please fix.
Game plays well, but why are there no notifications in a game with asynchronous multiplayer? I cannot tell when it's my turn while there is a timer running out that boots me from the game that cannot be disabled altogether. Also, it seems weird that farms are disabled by default when it is a core part of the game. I found the toggle right away, but feel that it should be on by default.
Carcassonne has to be my favorite game of all time. As a long time player of the other app (which is actually what got me into the board game and board games in general), the biggest problem I have is with the lack of expansions. This isn't huge, as I have no doubt they will come out, eventually. However since I own the other app and expansions, I'll be playing that until they release them for this app, despite the great graphics and other upgrades (just as long as I'm not paying $5 or so per expansion).
I really like what Asmodee Digital has done with Pandemic, Splendor, Small World, and Ticket To Ride, and I was hoping this version of Carcassonne would be in the same league, but for me it falls way way short. I am a long time Carcassonne tabletop and digital player and I very much prefer the older version of of this digital game by exozet. The exozet version had a significantly deeper solo play, with many expansions available and a double base set of tiles for a monster game. This new Asmodee Digital version does not even allow the playing of fields in solo mode (maybe field play is available in online play based on what I see in the pictures). Anyways, this version of the game looks good in pictures, but the play is way too light compared to the exozet version. I would call this version Cartoony Carcassonne Light. I recommend the developer drop the 3D graphics in this version and go for nice crisp looking tiles. Get rid of all the glowing effects too. I am reverting back to exozet Carcassonne.

I had the original Carcassonne game from the other developer, and this new one plays just as nice. The 3D thing doesn't really add much to the game, but you can switch to 2D, so it's a nice addition after all. I haven't encountered any issues yet, I think it was definitely worth buying! I hope more expansion packs will come in the future.
